I tried Mavra tea,Turkish coffee, sausage and french fries, crispy chicken and french fries with my companion. Love sausage, different from taste in London and Munich. Soft, not crispy, but nice! Chicken, just so so. Turkish coffee tastes better than Mavra tea, maybe my individual taste.

Went there for a very late lunch because the hotel we staying recommend the place. Very disappointed, service not friendly at all, drinks and food are really over priced what the portion you get, sorry will not recommend to others and we will not go there again

Very good local haunt. Went twice while in town. The owner has been very kind and has even taught us some Turkish. If you want good food, good prices and a nice casual night out this is the place to go. I’d certainly go back — if not for the food, but for the service and atmosphere.

Relaxed vibe. Affordable and excellent food. Had the princess breakfast(tomato cheese salad with pomegranate molasses) and the menemen(tomato egg peppers casserole). Both were delicious. Had to get a few hours of work done on a Tuesday morning before going site-seeing. This was perfect — felt relaxed and cool, but the internet was reliable and setting peaceful enough to get work done. Waiter barely spoke English but was very accommodating and we were able to communicate just fine. E.g., I asked for a pot of herbal tea rather than in a mug and he made it happen. The regular tea that comes with breakfast sets come in the typical lovely clear hourglass cups.

Mavra has become our go-to spot on our stay in Istanbul. The space is inviting, the wifi is fast(password located on the cover of the menu) and the service is passable. I understand the review about Americans having«no chance» in this place, but I think if you are able to smile, remain humble and ask nicely for things, the servers will work with you. After all, the menu is written in English and Turkish… They offer«filtered coffee» which is what us Americans drink regularly as «drip coffee». Their Turkish coffee comes out of one of those new electric brewers, so I pass on it. Their village breakfast is killer, and large enough for two. Salads are delicious, especially the Createn(spelling?). Pasta was delicious, very surprised. They do have a large menu, but everything I’ve sampled has been executed well. Soup of the day is only 6 Lyra, and bottled water is 2. Very fair prices, great music and again, free & fast wifi. Service is not pushy, and maybe erring on the side of absent, but I’d rather be left alone than pestered every 3 minutes. Take your laptop, order the village breakfast(with unlimited filtered coffee) and relax for a few hours! But please don’t take my table near the back.
