Our third leg of our trip to Turkey brought us to Selcuk, Izmir. Initially, we had tried to book at Hotel Bella, but the hotel informed us that they were fully booked. But the hotel referred us to their sister hotel, Nilya, that was a short block and a half away.( ) Arriving late in the evening, our cab driver had a little trouble finding Nilya until he asked a local, who directed our driver to the hotel. Seldar came out and greeted us and brought in our bags. Then Erdal, one of the co-owners of Nilya and Bella, came from Bella to greet us. He gave us a briefing on Ephesus and scheduled the time for our shuttle there the next morning, which was complementary. The room was nice-sized and beautifully adorned in Turkish carpets and ceramics. Loved the modern bathroom. The hotel has complementary Wi-Fi with a strong connection.( )( ) The hotel is on two levels that opens to a beautiful courtyard, where breakfast is served in the morning and where you can relax after a day touring Ephesus. The hotel serves a Turkish breakfast plate of fruits and veggies, bread and jams, eggs cooked to order, and coffee and tea. A nice healthy breakfast to start your day.( )( ) Meeting at Bella, Erdal drove us to Ephesus for our visit of the Roman ruins and arranged to pick us up three hours later. When he picked us up and brought us to a restaurant for gozleme, a delicious Turkish pancakes(quesadilla). He then bought us to Cemetery of Seven Sleepers before bringing us back to the Hotel. Later, for a small fee, we arranged for a ride, which was handled by one of the hotel workers, to the site of the House of Mary. When we returned back to Bella, the other co-owner, Nazmi, gave us a tour of his carpet and ceramic tile store located next to Bella. He provides an informative presentation to carpets and shows pride in his carpets. Overall, we had a great stay at Nilya Hotel. So happy that Bella directed us to their sister hotel. Great friendly service from owners and the staff. Beautiful and serene hotel with a nice courtyard. Hotel is also located three short blocks to a restaurant and shopping area.
