While in Kusadasi, we took a tour of the Ephesian ruins, St. John’s Basilica, and the home of the Virgin Mary. After all of that, we were ravenous, and we retreated to the KoruMar Hotel for a buffet lunch. The hotel itself was luxurious but had that European minimalism. Facing the Aegean Sea, I am sure staying there in a room with a view must be spectacular. I found the food at the buffet to be a bit safe – suited to British palates, as most of the people on our cruise were from the UK anyway – but it was not bad by any means. If I ever have the good fortune to return to Kusadasi, and not just for a port of call on a cruise(I really wouldn’t be complaining about that either though!!!), I would definitely consider staying at the KoruMar.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view from the outside bar. The rooms are reasonably spacious and clean. The dinner buffet was pretty good. This place is used as a springboard for trips to Ephesus.

LUNCHCANNOTGETANYBETTER We started out early in the morning by taking a bus ride up a very narrow two lane mountain road to a most spiritual visit to the House of Virgin Mary. Then we ride half way down to spend a considerable amount of time at Ephesus(Celsius Library and Odean Theater) the NYC with marbled streets of the then great Roman Empire. Cleopatra and Mark Antonybonce mingled with its 250,000 Roman citizens. The term shade did not exsist and so nearly everyone of our tour had tired feet and was exhausted. One more religious historical site to visit before a late lunch and that’s St John’s Basilica, his original resting place. One more short ride and next stop is the Korumar Hotel Deluxe for lunch. Seated in a small banquet room with a panoramic Agean Sea view. Our most delightful Turkish lunch included: — Appetizers of stuffed grape leaves; green, red beans plus sweet red peppers in olive oil, sliced tomato with lemon; and white cheese, fried potatoes and eggplant in a tomato sauce. — Hot appetizer of Turkish pastry with cheese accompanied by a tomato sauce. — Main Course is beef and chicken on a skewer, grilled lamb meatballs, and an array of cooked vegetables. — Fresh sliced fruits — Orange flavored pudding with caramel sauce — Unlimited cold or hot refreshments WHAT A DEAL ! BUTTHAT’S NOTALL Our lunch included a live Turkish folkloric show by young adults,. They received a huge round of applause from all of us. By far our best lunch of our vacation. We didn’t want to leave. Shame how many people under appreciated their meal. As for us, we were in Mediterranean gourmet heaven with live entertainment. We could have utilized these entertainers on board the Nieuw Amsterdam. LoL

The good. If you are fortunate to score an ocean view room, you will be in Heaven. The bad. Not much, unless you are facing the mountain. This property rests right on the Aegean Sea, the turquoise waters are literally within arms reach. It’s magical.

This hotel had one of the best views of all of the hotels that I stayed at in Turkey. The buffet had indoor and outdoor seating that overlooked the sea. Rooms were pretty spacious and modern. Free WIFI of course with hotel room registration with your passport(as it is pretty much in every hotel).
