Quaint downtown location in a historical building with lots of character. Piano player added nice ambiance. Good wine list. Had a fabulous spinach salad with grilled chicken and grilled artichokes that were the best I ever ate! Husband had Pasta George that he thoroughly enjoyed! The chocolate mint brownie dessert was delightful too! Very good service! Could not have been happier

Food was OK. Server seemed unhappy and didn’t even say thank you. Air vents in ceiling are gross. Dirt all around air vents and on ceiling. Can only imagine what kitchen is like. Better choices in Abilene

The food was amazing. The service was pretty slow. Our waitress was very nice but not very prompt.

This was a fine discovery on our recent trip to Abilene. We arrived for lunch and, since we like to sit at the bar, were ushered into a large room with the brewing vats lined up right there. Of course, we sampled their offerings(all good!) and settled on a Pilsner for our lunch beverage. Add to that a Reuben sandwich for me and a pasta medley for my partner, and we stumbled out of the place an hour later as happy as two beer-loving travelers could be!

Went for lunch; price is extremely high for quantity and quality of dishes. Service was adequate but not fantastic or even good. I had the fish n chips-fish was overcooked and the chips were too greasy. Also, the fish was overbattered, leaving hollow spots. A companion had the chicken Caesar salad and it was described as something you would get as a starter or side. Both of these dishes cost $ 10.

Took my wife there for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We were expecting much more than what we got, bad service. Our server seems frazzled as if he had too many tables and we barely got checked on, took us 10 minutes just to get two waters with lemons. The food was good but overall we will not be returning. Please get better staff.

Having never visited Cypress Street Station, we were unsure what to expect. The tie-clad waiter was friendly, professional, and attentive; anticipating what I needed before I needed it. Never in my life have I tasted a more delicious pecan crusted salmon, ever, and my companion’s chicken enchiladas were likewise, fantastic. I, personally have not had a better dining experience in a very long time. Oh, and the shrimp appetizers(I forget the name) — I would step on cute puppies for those shrimp! They were spectacular.

Exceptionally disappointing! Terrible, but somewhat nice service. Beer($ 8.50 for one small glass) had almost half foam in the glass. Potato skins were okay. Sausage sandwich was unbelievably bad for $ 11. It was cold and tasteless, served with shriveled fries. I’ve had much better dive bar food! When the mustard is the tastiest item on the plate, there’s a problem. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, as well as lacking the professional demeanor for the setting and price point. For a place that is built, appointed and apparently attempting to be a cut above, it is failing in the phases that count most! Count me out on a return visit. I feel sorry for the good folks of Abilene if this is as good as it gets.

I depend on my visit to Cypress Street Station every time I visit Abilene. Feels like home. This visit my mom, her friend, and I were greeted, seated, and served by Robert. He was so kind to seat us in the bar area — my fave — and I enjoyed a flight of the recent brews. The food was great, as expected, and the chef even«toned down» the spice in my friend’s tortilla soup so she could enjoy it. The Blonde Ale was tasty that day! I recommend this place for a laid-back dinner and conversation.

My coworkers and I stopped by on our way through town traveling for work. Our entrees were great!(Quail, Tucson chicken and pasta George). Service was great as well! Desserts weren’t as tasty as the entrees,(the peach cobbler isn’t much to write home about) but we enjoyed or over all experience. I will be sure to stop by in the future!

So… to those of you wondering if Abilene could possibly brew its own, the answer is simple… they IMPORT, therefore they don’t. This adds to the final product price(excessively). Are the products on sale worth the price tag? Having worked as a vebdor for some pretty good winemakers in Europe, I would venture to say the products are average/subpar, but considering the location i would lower the bar and say it is decent to good. NOTHING even remotely as good as Fredricksburg wineries, but still pretty solid and decent. What i don’t get is how they manage their tastings. But, in that aspect, i admit i have been spoiled(again) by tastings throughout Europe. A little suggestion. Though you may think that the average Abilener hasn’t much traveled, you may wanna improve both the quality and the presentations. AND, just try and loose the stiffness.. After all, good alcohol consumption should be an enjoyable pastime.

Was very dissapointed. I lived in Abilene as a kid and always wanted to go in but never got to. So, I made my husband take me there when we went through. I have never been more let down at a restraunt. It was pouring rain outside so they were very slow. It took a few minutes for the staff to acknowledge our presence upon arrival. We got our drinks and looked over the menu. And waited. And waited. Finally our waitress reappeared and said«oh, I forgot about you!». Lunch menu was underwhelming amd nothing special. The staff did not seem to know how to fill glasses and were constantly spilling them.

This was the first time we have eaten at Cypress Street Station. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The waiter was brand new, we were his first table on his first day. He did a wonderful job! I had the pesto risotto and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were good. The risotto had a lot of Parmesan so it made the risotto a little dry but other then that we enjoyed our meal and will come back again.

Pros: Food was well prepared, we had the pork chop and Reuben sandwich. The restaurant is quite and adult friendly, not kid friendly. Cons: Pork chop was much smaller than it used to be, however, it was done as opposed to being to raw in the middle. That may be the reason for the smaller size. The restaurant was fairly empty, yet we were seated 2 feet from a crowded table. The waitress rarely came to refill our glasses. The tea tasted like it was instant. THISISTEXAS! Why are you serving instant tea? This is not a fast food joint and I’ve never seen it too busy to brew tea.

This is my updated review: Cypress Street Station used to be a favorite place of mine. For awhile, I felt like the quality declined. I just finished my first dinner at Cypress Street Station after a two year hiatus and it was GREAT! It seems like they have recaptured what made the restaurant great originally. Our service was top notch, the food was excellent and the restaurant atmosphere was different than anything else you can find in Abilene. My wife and I were absolutely glad we have it another try. If you haven’t been in a while, give it another shot!

It’s pricey, but it’s good. I like that they crag their own beer, that was pretty cool! I’ll try it again and revise my review, cause last time I went was almost 3 years ago.

Found this eatery here on Unilocal.Abilene is lacking food options so wanted to try something new. We didn’t get the cream of the crop waiter tonight. He was having a bad night… He also let us know that… Well bud, if I’m about to drop $ 100plus on din din… Put your big boy undies on… He forgot our straws… Lemonade was horrible… Asked for bread twice, got it after food came out. Never got our spicy brushetta appetizer either… He brought it out when we were doing eating and said it was on him… No thanks… Son had the green chile burger and ate the whole thing. Fries were cold and soggy. I had the fish and chips and so did the hubs. It was average. Reminded me of Long John Silvers… I also asked for a particular beer with my meal and he soar they didn’t have it. I may be a drink snob. It how about suggesting a similar kind?! Also, waiter knew he was on my shit list… I think he was stoned. I get up and go to the bathroom and he precedes to bitch and moan to my family how he is so overwhelmed and has been training a lot and is tired and stressed. My hubs asks«are you the one In training?» Yikes! At a new spot like this I expected great service… It’s ridiculous to have a piano and piano player at your establishment for dinner and then have stoner servers! We won’t be back to this spot!

Lived near Abilene for 25 years and never tried this place before. That was a mistake, should have come here before. Really good food. Had the pecan crusted salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans… fantastic. Simple but tasty. My wife loved the black bean tomato soup. Salads were simple and good. Décor is dark rustic Texas ranch style. Service was quick and friendly. We will be back to make up for all the years we skipped this place.
