Quaint little wine shop located in the Smithville shopping village. Lots of wine paraphernalia, gadgets, and gizmos to purchase as a gift for the wine lover in your ife, or to bring home for yourself. Of course, a selection of Tomasello wine is on hand. You can get tastings here for a small fee and keep the glass, but be warned that the samples are on the small side. You won’t even catch a buzz. I did like some of the reds though. Ok prices too. Tomasello’s offers some decent wines but nothing that will blow your mind and send your taste buds on a magical unicorn ride. Worth a visit if in the village and you enjoy wine. Their main winery and vineyard is also not too far away by car.

Tomasello’s Winery in Smithville is a small tasting room and boutique shop. The store carries lots of wine chachke like wine bags, cup charms, magnets, cups and much more. Of course they also sell wine. They offer a tasting for $ 5 which includes 5 samplings and commemorative glass. I have mixed feelings about the tasting. On one hand, all of that is a pretty good deal for $ 5 since it includes a glass. On the other hand, the pours were very tiny. I would have paid more for a larger pour. There also weren’t any seats so we had to stand around the register for the tasting. I stuck to the more fruity flavored wines like the blueberry wine, spiced apple wine, autumn special and a few others. They were enjoyable but nothing really stood out. The autumn bottle was on sale for $ 9 and since I had stayed at the Inn, I got an additional discount. I ended up picking up a bottle for my family. There were so many open bottles/uncorked bottles, there were some little fruit flies flying around. That was a bit of a turnoff. The two gentlemen working at the store were very kind and knowledgeable. I really liked that the majority of the wine was made with local ingredients. Although the store was charming and convenient to Smithville, I wasn’t really enamored by this location. I certainly would support the winery and would like to go to visit their main location.

On a visit from Texas, stopped into their Smithville shop. A nice gift collection complemented the wine offerings. The sweet wines made from Garden State blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and cranberries were the attraction. I am not a sweet wine fan but these were a delight as was the«Mulled Spice» holiday wine. The star was the young man who orchestrated our tasting event. Phil is working his way through college and was a delight to interact with. He is knowledgeable, articlate and passionate about wine. Phil went above and beyond the call of duty when he tracked us down elsewhere in Smithville in frigid weather to bring the complimentary wine glasses we left at the shop. Go see Phil, taste some fine Jersey wine and tell Phil you read about him on Unilocal
