Frozen custard is one of my favorite treats in the summer. I’m sure others will agree. Of course everyone goes to «the other place» to get frozen custard because it is a STL tradition, but you know what? I like Mr. WIzard’s. I hardly ever have to wait in line and the service is always friendly. I can walk up to the counter and ask for my M&M concrete and the girl behind the counter smiles and says it will be right up. I can ask questions when I can’t make a decision and she will help me decide. If you try to do that at «the other place» they usually roll their eyes and rush the decision making process. I hate being rushed and Mr. Wizard’s employees never rush me. Thanks for that. The few times I have been I typically order the same thing; but this last time I went with something different. I ordered«the wizard»(strawberries, hot fudge and brownies). It was the perfect blend of 3 great items. I am pretty sure I would get it again. The selection of specialty concretes is pretty great and if you want to be creative you can, but if not, you can be basic and select your favorite toppings. I am sad that the weather will soon be colder, but I am pretty sure I will be back at least once more before winter!

Really really good. I’m afraid to say I like it more than Drewe’s. :/I will be back for sure.

I love this place. Usually I have a Hawaiian or a Turtle, tonight I had a Heath concrete and as usual I was very pleased

Dearest Wiz, Last July I proclaimed my undying love for you. I thought we were well on our way to a committed relationship, but you’ve now opened a second location in Affton. That’s a much longer drive for me. Are you trying to get away from me?(You can’t.) From what I can tell, your two locations are pretty much the same. Both offer custard and yogurt(chocolate, vanilla, or swirled), concretes, sundaes, shakes, malts, floats, slushes, and snow cones(in a cup). However, there are a couple of differences between your two shops. Compared to your Maplewood digs, your new place is much larger and has ample parking. I hate to ask this, but are you seeing other people?(No one will ever love you like I do.) Your hours also seem to be different at the two locations. You have not yet started your 2015 season in Maplewood, but Affton began the season on January 27. That’s fantastic! Unfortunately, I’m not sure of your hours in Affton. The hours on your website differ from the hours on your Facebook page, and the hours on your Facebook page seem to differ from your actual hours of operation. Are you playing hard to get?(I like a challenge.) Maplewood. Affton. I really don’t care. I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more just to be the girl who walked 1,000 miles for the custard I adore. Yours forever, Kitty W(izard) P. S. I’ve already started using your last name. Hope you don’t mind.

I came here spontaneously with my husband because we were in the area and I wanted to get some ice cream. I had passed by Mr. Wizard’s before, so we decided to try them out. We both got kiddie cones: one vanilla and one chocolate/vanilla swirl. No waffle cones, sprinkles, concretes, or anything fancy. We just wanted to taste the custard itself. For me, it didn’t seem like anything special. The consistency was weird, kind of like it was a very heavy whipped cream(I don’t like whipped cream). I think the ice cream should be able to stand alone; it shouldn’t need brownies or caramel or strawberries on top to help make it taste good. For that reason, I’m giving it a 2. I really dislike giving them a low rating, but honestly, it’s not a place I would take someone. I guess the good thing about it was that the cashier was friendly and our kiddie cones weren’t expensive, so at least we didn’t spend too much money on underwhelming custard.
