I’m in the market of renting a piano for 12 months, and eventually purchasing a new piano afterwards. The salesperson at the Santa Monica Keyboard Concepts told me to go to the Agora Hills location, as they had the exact piano that I was looking to rent. The store is right off the 101 freeway, but a bit difficult to get to. Once I was in the store, I was greeted by LOVELY sales associates. Ms. Manager(I think her name was Alice, sorry I lost her card) was amazing. She knew that I was coming in to the store and showed me exactly what I needed to see. She was very informative and helpful. She provided excellent customer service. I liked her approach and professionalism. Because of the great service, I decided to rent the piano that I tried out! Thanks for a great experience! I’ll be back to purchase a new one in about a year! This place is highly recommended.

I received an extensive education from the folks at Keyboard Concepts about pianos and how they work, and I’ve been a fan ever since. I send all of my students there to rent and buy pianos. Quite a few of my students rent a piano, and they can apply the rent they pay to the purchase of any piano they would like to own. KC also holds great special events and I take my students there for FREE«field trips.» They are extremely knowledgeable and customer-focused. I recommend that anyone who is interested in owning a piano go to KC and get a real education before you make a decision.

As a piano teacher and owner of 2 music schools, I appreciate that my students can come in and get the personal service of a local store, while getting prices lower than what I can find online… At either musicians friend or Costco. The bonus is that after they buy an entry level keyboard, they can come back in a year or two, when the student is playing well, and get 100% of their purchase price as a credit towards the next level piano. That is a win for everyone! I send all of my students to Keyboard Concepts because they have consistently given us amazing products for exactly where we are musically. Everyone knows that Yamaha pianos are the top of the line, and perfect for a beginner to advanced student. This kind of craftsmanship is what our parents dream of when they buy a family piano to pass on to generations of their children and grandchildren. And… They carry sheet music and books as well. Gus is both friendly and knowledgable, without being pushy. I get that he cares more about getting my students the right piano for their ability level and budget than he does about making a buck. Not too many people like that around anymore!

The store manager has a wealth of knowledge but soon you start feeling like she is trying uncessarily hard to convince you that she is credible(which no doubt, she is). This is the type of store where it’s silent and you’ll have sales people talking to you frequently. They do have an impressive selection of high end pianos(Schimmel, Bosendorfer). And I know they do financing, so that is a plus. They also sell a lot of music and benches. Not a lot of used pianos though. In the end, I purchased from Knauer. I felt better about giving a small business my money and their sales people were very hands off and allow you to fiddle around on all the pianos for as long as you want without making you feel awkward.
