Love love love this place! I am a vegetarian and my mom decided to take me here because she thought I would thoroughly enjoy it and I really did. The food here is so delicious and the atmosphere is one of a kind. It’s a little restaurant located in a small shopping center. Rabbit hole café has a few outdoor seats and indoor seating. The inside of the café reminds me of a little house with groovy furniture. Its super cute! This place is such a gem located in Agoura hills. In fact, I enjoy it so much because it is not a café that you would typically find in Agoura. I find more of these kind of cafes in Los Angeles. Overall: The foods great, definitely a must try. The servers have great suggestions on what to order as well if you want a second opinion! Also something to keep in mind is that it can get a bit pricey per entrée but I found that the portions are generous if you wanted to share!

Went here with a co-woker on Tuesday & wasn’t sure what to expect after reading mixed reviews on Unilocal! An acquaintance of hers had recommended it so we decided to give it a shot. Before we got there we had picked out the 2 things we wanted to share: *The fried brussel sprout bowl(apparently an item from their«old» menu but still available) with an additional fried egg so we’d each have one($ 12.95 + $ 2 for the extra egg) *The grilled cheese, tomato, pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries with chipotle dipping sauce($ 7.95) I also got a bottled sparkling spring water($ 3.75 for a 1⁄3 liter bottle, grrr!). I didn’t know it until the transaction was complete & didn’t want the hassle of returning it. When the food came, we were so excited to eat that I forgot to snap pics. This happens to me far too often!!! Anyway, the food pretty good. Crispy, salty fried brussels and potatoes with a pesto aioli & fried egg: The egg acted like a sauce when the yolk was pierced but I gotta say, if you prefer the whites a little more firm, let then know. Mine were kinda clear & slimy. The grilled cheese, tomato sandwich: Crispy n gooey! And I seriously loved their addition of pesto… it made it excessivly cravable. Pesto, how do you do THAT?!? The sweet potato fries were pretty good too… hot & crispy. The chipotle dipping sauce upped it for me, making it a trifecta of mildly spicy, sweet, salty. Oh and we used a lot of the Trader Joe’s Chili Pepper Sauce that was near the utinsel & water station cuz we both like a little extra heat. I’ve gotta pick up a bottle, I’ll be using it on everything. Not too hot but with great flavor. I’d go back… but I’d stick to the free water.

Nestled in the back of a small strip center is a vegetarian restaurant called The Rabbit Hole The front room where you order is like a tiny general store in the country side. The menu is both vegan and vegetarian with many options I asked about the soup of the day and asked for a taste. It was an ugly gray color and the taste was so so. I am happy i tasted it and did not order it I ended up getting the Un-tuna fish sandwich and a side of flash fried Brussel sprouts with pesto aioli dip After we ordered we went into the side room that was kind of thrift shop and dirty feeling and the past lunch people’s left overs and dirty dishes were all over tables. Kind of grossed me out They finally brought our food to our table and surprisingly the Brussel sprouts rocked!!! Really seasoned well. Great flavor and texture and the sauce was not overly pesto like. Just right The Un-tuna sandwich was interesting. Made of cashew hummus and other things, it did resemble tuna. Overall it was good and very filling, but I would have enjoyed real tuna more Another person with me had the BBQ chicken like sandwich with sweet potato fries that he liked his lunch a lot But he also agreed that my Brussel sprouts were the best Would I come back? If they took more care of the restaurants cleanliness– yes. Otherwise probably not

I live in la, but I’ve been driving up to Thousand Oaks once or twice a month for work. This has been my go to place to stop for lunch. The coffee is good, the sandwiches are delicious. The sweet potato fries are great, although a little on the expensive side. In the 5 $ sweet potato fry’s defense, they are organic, but for the size of the serving, 5 $ feels like a dollar or two too much. Atmosphere is very nice. Service is great.

I’m very surprised that The Rabbit Hole Café has 4 stars. I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to write one now so that others may be warned before they have similarly negative experiences. I’ve been coming here intermittently for years, and I literally can’t name one thing on the menu that has been memorable in a good way. I eat a mostly vegan diet, and I’ve had some incredible vegan/vegetarian food for much better value. My issues with The Rabbit Hole are the following: 1) The food is bland and just not very good for the most part. I’ve tried multiple things on the menu and never have I bit into something and been wowed or even had much of a positive reaction. And I’m such a foodie and usually easy to please. I’ve tried sandwiches, bowls, wraps, and none of it has been good or better than something I could make at home. 2) Some of the food is no bueno. I tried the grilled kale salad and wow… mushy soggy kale with the thick stems on. Very unappetizing. It’s an insult to my beloved kale. Also the grilled veggie wrap… literally a couple pieces of flavorless soggy eggplant with three pieces of soggy spinach mixed in with some brown rice and several bits of quinoa. It made me sad. 3) The menu lacks creativity and definitely doesn’t give much thought to nutrition. As a vegan/vegetarian place, you HAVE to offer more fresh options like salads. Only one salad on the menu and it’s grilled soggy kale? Also, you HAVE to offer other high-protein options besides imitation meat, because as a vegan/vegetarian, I don’t want anything that even resembles meat. I ordered the veggie wrap because the description said there was quinoa in it… there were literally 30 pieces of quinoa. I probably got 2g of protein out of that, if that. 4) The portions are TINY(see comments in section 2). Which wouldn’t be a problem if the food was actually good. But combine that with ridiculous prices and bland soggy food, and you have quite the disappointment. 5) EXPENSIVE. I have no idea how the prices at this place were determined. Seems like they make quite the profit to me. I get that some ingredients in vegan food can be more expensive, but DAMN. $ 12 for that tiny soggy kale salad? I could make that same salad but better for like $ 2 at home. I really don’t understand, and it upsets me. Compare Rabbit Hole to places like Sage Organic Vegan, Café Gratitude, and SunCafe and you’ll find that you can get way better food that seems like it has higher quality ingredients and more imagination/creativity for the similar prices or cheaper. 6) The attitude of the staff. The ones I’ve interacted with seem pretty over it and don’t value their customers. They never seem enthusiastic are don’t put much effort into making the customer happy. I always feel rushed when ordering and like I can’t ask any questions. They’re also straight up rude sometimes. My boyfriend asked if they have any types of lettuce to add to his dish and the woman at the register said no. Then I noticed that there’s a kale salad on the menu and pointed that out, to which the woman responded«kale isn’t lettuce.» My boyfriend asked«oh. what do you consider it then?» She responded«I don’t know.» Okay dude… most people would consider kale a lettuce whether it technically fits this description or not. Don’t be rude about it. And don’t correct other people when you don’t have an answer. It was super weird. 7) Goes along with #6 — no respect for the customer. My boyfriend tried to send back the soggy grilled kale salad and get something else, but the staff wouldn’t let him because they said it’s exactly as described on the menu, so he should have expected what he ended up getting. Maybe if they add the words«tiny» and«soggy» to the description that would have been a valid response. Unfortunately they chose to be cheap and petty about it when really it would have been no extra cost to them to let him get something else, leaving us feel very unsatisfied with our food and experience and losing customers in the process. 8) Sad food = sad Kelsey :(I’ve been here over 10 times, and each time I’ve left feeling pretty bummed and underwhelmed. Food has the capacity to make me so happy, but it also has the capacity to kill my mood if it’s bad, especially if the overall experience isn’t up to par too. I’m not trying to pay $ 15 anymore to feel sad. Like Dara M said, «$ 15 is too much to pay for disappointment.» So sorry for leaving you such a negative review Rabbit Hole, but after so many negative experiences and disappointments, I feel the need to write one now. You have a lot of work to do, despite all the positive reviews. Maybe people are confused because you’re one of the only vegan places around here, I’m not sure. Please be more respectful of your customers. I’ll end on a positive note: the Tropic of Kale smoothie is pretty good. Not amazing, a tad too sweet, but still good. I’ll give you that.

Disclaimer: not a typical vegan/gluten free eater I came here at the request of some of my vegetarian colleagues, and had pretty high hopes upon walking in. The café is really cute and decorated to hipster yogi perfection. Started off my experience with an A. The food was a little more expensive than I hoped, but wasn’t that turned off by this at first since it was more or less expected based on the ambiance. I ordered a vegan BBQ chicken flatbread sandwich with sweet potato fries, coming out to nearly 18 bucks. They charged me for extra dipping sauce(always a no-no) too. Okay, cringeworthy but still hope. The food was edible at best. The«Chik’n» was dry and the flatbread felt stale(although most gluten free bread tastes like that in my opinion). The bbq sauce was awful too. The crispy fried kale chips were pretty good but obnoxiously difficult to eat as they’d crumble in your hands halfway to your mouth. The sweet potato fries were good – but how do you mess up sweet potato fries? Overall, highly disappointed in the food, but enjoyed the ambiance and décor. Not even my vegetarian friends gave this place a thumbs up. Probably gonna stick to veggie grill or something next time.

This is such a wonderful place! I had a yummy salad and my date had the most amazing panini! The service was impeccable and we felt treasured as a customer. Thank you for such a lovely experience. I don’t Unilocal much anymore, but when I do… it means it is a really nice time.

In search of some eggscellent breakfast in the area, I found this vegetarian and vegan-friendly café on Unilocal. I decided on the SCRAMBLEDBOWL, a triple layer choose your own adventure«bowl». First you pick between breakfast potatoes or brown rice quinoa for the base layer, then scrambled eggs or tofu for the middle layer, and lastly two items among several choices. I ordered quinoa, eggs, grilled eggplant and spinach. It was fine, just nothing special. Also the bowl itself is shallow so l wouldn’t call it a generous portion.

Sorry, Rabbit Hole. You’re being downgraded to three stars. I’ve been coming here less frequently, partly because I no longer work down the street, but, more significantly, because the last several visits have left me disappointed. And $ 15 is too much to pay for disappoint. Things started going downhill when they took my favorite item off the menu – my beloved Violet Shrooben. I adapted, branched out. They still had the Rabbit Hole bowl, but I brought my mom here to try it, and it was served with(what appeared to be and tasted like) regular potatoes, not sweet potatoes. When I brought it up with an employee, she was unapologetic, and insisted that they were sweet potatoes. I stopped in yesterday, craving something delicious and ordered a new croque madam they’re offering – their grilled cheese(with tomato and pesto) topped with brie, grilled mushrooms, and an over-easy egg. I oped for gluten-free bread(because it’s totally delicious at RH) for an extra buck, bringing my total, with tax, to just under $ 15. Bread, cheese, more cheese, grilled mushrooms, egg. What could be bad, right? It was inexplicably bland, totally meh. I left crestfallen. I think I’m giving up. Rabbit Hole, it was nice while it lasted.

This place was recommended to me by Agoura Hairstyling, which is right across the street from here, next door to the 7Eleven. Apparently they go there all the time and rave about this place, so, naturally, I had to give it a try! I got their tropical kale smoothie and it was grrrrrrrreat and tasted really clean, like I was putting good stuff into my body. I didn’t have enough time to wait for any food, but the next time I am in the area I am going to take my time to try some of their yummy food. Their soups have been highly recommended as well. This little café is pretty small, located in a small strip mall/shopping center, there isn’t a ton of parking there, but don’t let that fool you. They have the cutest Alice in Wonderland décor here. I will definitely be back here to try something new the next time I am in the area.

A rare find for the suburbs, The Rabbit Hole Café offers delicious and healthy food in a relaxing atmosphere that allows you to forget you’re sitting in a strip mall. I had the scramble bowl several times and its been consistently good. The smoothies are terrific as well. The staff has been welcoming and accommodating on each visit, even when they are dealing with a lunch hour rush. Free Wifi and comfortable seating too!
