This place is conveniently located right next to the theater. Their meisterburger was pretty darn good and I love how they made cheese garlic fries for us… Yum! The server had great attention to detail as well and very friendly. First time dining at this place and it was great!

Very disappointed. The burger was overly salty and otherwise nothing special. It was a very hectic atmosphere even though there were empty tables. I thought it would be good to get a burger with sourdough since they offer that as a choice. The bread was toasted and too much. It was hard. I would have told someone, but they were running around and never really checked on me. Won’t go back.

Best burger in Alameda, and probably Oakland. No nonsense, full bar, perfect burgers, excellent fries, good for kids, not too loud, RIGHTNEXT to the historic Alameda theater. Parking sucks, but there’s a parking structure right around the corner for only $.75/hour. Enjoy.

I really liked this place and I really really really didn’t want to post a 2 star review but here I am. This happened New Years Eve, my boyfriend had gotten there before me because he wanted to watch a football game and he ordered a beer while he waited for me at the bar. Once I got there I wasn’t even acknowledged by either one of the 2 waitresses behind the counter. They had already given menus to him so I looked over so I could be ready by the time they came to take our orders. We waited for about 15 minutes for one of them to come and get at least my drink order but this never happened. They both were taking turns talking to 2 guys that were sitting a few feet away from us. They never even looked our way, but they were both at the bar at some point the whole 15 minutes just standing there talking to the guys. My boyfriend finished his beer and left cash on the counter to pay for the beer because we couldn’t even get their attention to get the check. Horrible customer service, really liked the food and the atmosphere for game days but I doubt we’ll be coming back. I do want to say one of the stars is for Sarah who is always super nice to us. She’s always attentive and great. I’m really sorry to give 2 stars but I needed to address our last experience.

Ordered a ABC burger to go today and when I got home and opened it up it was missing the bun. I’m shocked that buns or optional or that I wasn’t asked if I wanted a bunless avacado bacon burger without a bun. So I suggest if you order anything to go check it before you leave or just go to nearby svolaris

Went here for burgers after the movies… they were ok, nothing great… on the way out a waitress was blocking the isle and when I approached she told me it would be a minute before she could move out of the way cause she’s taking a food order… It literally took her longer to tell me that than it would have for her to take a small step left, then step back to where she was standing… She wouldn’t even have missed what they might have told her… Rude rude rude… and stupid… Red onion is way better anyway…

Good quaintly of food. Very fresh and well made. Plenty of room, nice bar, friendly service. Wish the portions were bigger and they had more of a section on the menu. Menu could expand in the section of sea food, salad and deserts. I got the chicken tenders w/salad. I enjoyed it and I will be back!

I’ve enjoyed the location in Berkeley and others in San Francisco for years so I was disappointed when I ate at this location over the weekend. It’s the third time I’ve tried it, and it will be the last time. All three times the service was slow. This last time, there was only one other person in the restaurant, and I still had inattentive service. The food wasn’t cooked properly either this last time. It didn’t taste good, and the one other person in the place commented that her order wasn’t cooked properly either.

My family and I had a positive experience at Burgermeister. Being my son is allergic to dairy, my MIL eats gluten free, and I have to figure in my son’s allergies since I breastfeed — it says a lot that we were all able to eat here comfortably! My turkey burger was delicious, and I loved the unique options such as mango, avocado(not that unique, but always nice to see), pineapple, etc. The fries are also good. I felt portion sizes were fair in regards to price. And we had consistently good service. Well done!

I’m still sitting here in the restaurant with chili which came to me cold and without crackers. Apparently, the restaurant doesn’t stock crackers. What has me more irritated is the fact that I’m still waiting on a glass of water to drink. I’ve asked twice but our server can’t seem to remember. So as my chili gets colder, my mouth gets drier and I get more irritated. I guess I need to break the cycle by never coming back here. Sadly, this place looks understaffed bc our server is bussing other tables and helping with the cashier. I won’t even check out the restroom here bc I will prob end up vomiting if it doesn’t look clean. Ah. Finally the water came! Served last. Just how I like it.

I wanted to love this place located right next to the theatre it looks really cool inside. The curb appeal on this restaurant is awesome cool little bar neat rounded upholstered bench seats along one wall one even has porthole like windows in one corner. So I walked in and there was no one there to greet me i sat down and after a few minutes was about to get up and get my own menu when a waitress who was getting off work came by and dropped off a menu. Shortly after our waitress showed up took my drink order in and food order I got the bacon cheeseburger well done with cheddar and french fries and my girlfriend got ABC burger with the coleslaw. The coleslaw was very bland however I piled it on my burger. The burgers were well cooked but a tad on the bland side when it came to seasoning. The bacon was delicious thick cut and the cheese was very flavorful. Overall the food was absolutely not worth the price unfortunately and I would not return just too many other killer burger places in Alameda.

Came into the restaurant tonight, Sara and Candace made me feel so welcome. As a female, I really don’t like eating alone. They talked with me in between waiting on others. One lady sitting at the bar was a major sour puss and complained about them ignoring her. Sara asked her several times if she needed anything. She was complaining about me taking all of their attention. They handled her professionally and expressed their apologies that she felt that way. She just seemed like someone who was trying to get something for free to me! I’m so sorry that people have to be that way. I enjoyed the food and drinks and will definitely go back!

Really good burgers. Thick milkshakes, yummm Tasty Chili Fries. A well enough stocked bar to get something to go with your meal. Place is clean. Have had good service each time there… smiling, friendly, efficient waitresses that are not over bearing or intrusive. Have seating outdoors also. Located next door to the Alameda theater which makes it handy to get a bite before, or after, a movie.

We went here for lunch. This was my first time trying burger miester, and I was satisfied. There slogan is,“A taste you can trust” My stomach agrees. I had the classic cheeseburger with everything, no onions. The burger was cooked well, and it was fresh and delicious. I LOVE the fries. Thin crust, my favorite with a great taste to it. I also had a Oreo cookie shake, it was good, but I’ve had better. The service here is good. They are nice people, but it’s tough to catch there eye, you know how annoying that can be. But it didn’t take long. The price is actually Pretty good. I’ll be back, definitely.

I stopped in for a quick cocktail before seeing a movie next door at the theater. It happened to be «thirsty Thursday», so draft beers were $ 3 a pint. Sold. I got a Blue Moon, served with the proper garnish, a slice of orange. I also wanted a vodka, over, with a twist. WHAT? No Belvedere … OK, I understand. NOGREYGOOSE? OK… then I spotted Chopin. Now we’re talking. Yummy potato vodka from Poland. Make it a double please! Friendly service from the staff, and timely with the bill after I mentioned I was going to a movie.

Stereotypic American burger place. I had buffalo chicken sandwich with salad. It was good because I was there after 20-mile hike. The service was good, but food was not very special.

While the food is still A-OK, the service is what brought Burgermeister down a star for me. Granted, it was a holiday(President’s Day) so the streets of historic downtown Alameda were booming with more people than usual. And yes, Burgermeister was a bit busy, but even so – not enough to warrant the severe lack of service we experienced. It started as soon as we walked in the door. We saw signs taped up that said«Cash Only» and we just assumed their registers were down or something. This was the case, hence all the employees were running around like chicken with their heads cut off… but without the big crowd or chaos to warrant that kind of reaction. There were empty tables everywhere, but they were covered in trash and half-eaten food. The waitress at the door barked at us to seat ourselves, so we picked one of the open, dirty tables and waited. And waited. And waited. Nothing. No one stopped to clean up the table. We decided to snag a table outside on the patio, since we were getting ignored anyways. We found another dirty table outside and waited some more. Finally a waitress came out and said, with attitude, «I was actually cleaning that table.» Ummm… as you should be. We’re not stopping you. Do you want us to leave while you clean it? Check your teenage angst at the door, honey. Life isn’t that hard… yet. Our food was okay, but they forgot a milk shake for our table. It wasn’t until my boyfriend went inside to ask that they gave him attitude AGAIN and finally made it. They told him, «they were working on it,» yet came out 2 minutes later with a shake. If you forgot, it’s OK. Just admit it. Don’t try to tell me you were waiting over 30 minutes to make a milkshake. He also had to get up to get us salt and pepper, which should have been on our table in the first place. It’s too bad… but service can really make or break a customer experience. And this one broke it.

Legend has become mere legend… Burgermeister, What happened? Back in 2011 when I first tried you, the burger I had literally blew my mind and my stomach into blissful ecstasy. The second and third time was just as good. Then we parted for a good 3 years. Just never had the occasion to see you. Perhaps some of that is my fault… but then I came back. I always passed you by and figured I must revisit the legend that you are for old time sake. Call me sentimental, but I ordered the same exact burger from that amazing moment several years ago. but then what happened? What kind of hardship have you faced that you have changed so much? I had an inkling something was wrong when I asked the nice lady for some of your delicious aioli. I remember so vividly the immense variety of aioli flavors and dipping sauces that always made me so happy. I love sauces. But then the lady looked at me confused and said what aioli? I put some ketchup in your bag. Ketchup? I tried to explain about the aioli but it was clear to me she had no idea what I was talking about. Has it been that long? Have you changed that much? What happen to the variety? The vibrancy? The love? Then I looked at my chicken sandwich. What happen to that large, too big to fit in my bun chicken? What happen to the warm juicy chicken I bit into that made me write that ridiculous Unilocal review talking about Legends and referencing Kung Fu Panda? No. it was dry, small, and not juicy at all. What happened to you? It’s like I don’t even know you. Was it because I was young and love struck that I just didn’t see clearly? Or have you changed? I. just can’t believe this… perhaps, i’ll come by again… i can’t finish this review… good bye

Downgraded to a 4… See the photo of my last review, with 4 large strips and two smaller ones? The only bad thing about Burgermeister is the inconsistency. Went today for a late lunch, and only received 3 medium strips. Still tasty, of course. But I’d rather get a plate with 6 strips than 3.
