I have been coming here for over 5 years and I can’t say I ever left feeling disappointed. Peter always does a fantastic job cutting my hair! I love that he ALWAYS takes his time… I never feel rushed. And he always blow-​drys my hair to perfection! Seriously! He is amazing!

I was totally burned by this place, figuratively and literally. Went to Peter for my Japanese hair straightening perm. He burned my scalp several times, with the hair dryer and the straightener. I kept Unilocaling every time he burned me but he did not even acknowledge it, so I had to Unilocal LOUDER the next time. I repeatedly said «oww! too hot!» to no reaction whatsoever.
That’s not even the worst. My hair looked great right after he finished. But after I washed my hair 72 hour later, my hair was SO DAMAGED! ALL THE FINE HAIRS near the edge of the hairline and ALLLLL BOTTOM TWO INCHES of my hair are EXTREMELY DAMAGED WITH CRAZY TANGLE AND KINKS. The top of my hair is straight but now nothing lies straight because the bottom of my hair is allll in knots and tangles.
I have my wedding in a few months and he royally fudged up my hair, thanks Peter.

My Grandmother has been going Nina for a while now and she loves her. I now love her too! Not because she did my hair though.
My Grandma had a fall, on her birthday of all days. She was on her way to see Nina for a cut but didn’t make it. Grandma has been mostly bed ridden since, going on three months now, she is 92. We called Nina and asked if she could do an in-​home visit. Nina was there in ten min.
Grandma has a fierce new do and a huge smile on her face! Much appreciated!

Being new to town, I was so stressed about where to get my hair done, so of course I turned to Unilocal and began my search. This place had some really great reviews, and the prices were far more reasonable than the other places I had seen. I decided to give it a shot. When I arrived I instantly thought I had made a terrible mistake. It was a ghost town and looked nothing at all like what I’m used to. Luckily, I stayed and gave it a chance, and I’m so happy I did! My hair looks great, and I will certainly be going back!

When I chose this salon, I operated on their great reviews. In addition, the price was also alluring. Unfortunately, they didn’t meet my expectations. I asked twice to check if the length was even and was told that everything will be fine. But the hairdresser didn’t pay much attention to my words, I guess. After washing my hair, I figured out that it’s not even close to word «even». Cheap can’t be good :(

Nina is fabulous. I was amazed at the quality of my color and my cut. She suggested a highlight and the result was simply wonderful. The cut and brushing were from far one of the most beautiful I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this salon and the magic Nina!

Peter is amazing! I went in for a Japanese hair straightening, and he offered exceptional skills at a very generous price. Not only that, but he did this all *on New Years Eve* at the very end of the day, when he could have been spending that time with his family. I was honored, and walked away with great looking hair. It’s been rare that I’ve ever gotten more «likes» on my Facebook profile photo ;-)
It’s a family business, too, with three siblings that grew up in a hair salon, which gives the place a sweet feeling.

Went here for a haircut and color on recommendation from a friend and a lot of good reviews from the Unilocalers and oh boy! I got the best haircut of my life! And the color is much better than what I had visualized! All thanks to Peter who patiently listened to what I wanted and suggested what would suit me and finally gave me this amazing makeover! I don’t remember the last time my husband even noticing my haircuts but now it’s totally different! He has been showering me with compliments! I guess I have found my stylist and next time I need my hair to be fixed, I know Peter is the man!
And what it costed me was surely the best in town! I have a mid length curly hair and it costed me $ 35 for the cut and styling and $ 70 for highlights! I bet you can’t find a better deal than this in Alameda!

Yeah for my haircut! Thanks Peter for doing such a great job. He carefully cut and styled my long frizzy curls and I left with new smooth layers that I love! His hair washing was the best ever — a relaxing treat. Easy to book appointment and easy to chat with once there.

Peter is awesome! I was wanting a Bob for a while, but my husband was against it. I finally convinced him to let me try it while I was pregnant since my hair grows back faster when I’m pregnant. I went to Peter for the first time with that haircut and my husband loved it. He said he would be okay with that cut as long as Peter did it. Nina is great too. She cuts my moms hair and always does it so that my mom looks amazing and my mom doesn’t tell her what to so she just does it. They use Pureology products which make my hair feel amazing afterwards. Love it and highly recommend!

I’ve been going to Gina and Peter for about 8 years now (through high school and through college whenever I was home), and they are by far the nicest people and very talented hairdressers/​stylists. Their customer service is excellent and their venue is first class; clean, organized and welcoming. They are great at cutting your hair the style that you want it, and they are great at recommending new styles if you feel like changing it up. Highly recommend both Peter and Gina.

I had waist length hair that I was kind of sick of. I Unilocaled, compared and came here. Gina cut my baby fine hair up to just below shoulder length and it looked great! I’ve come back for touch ups twice now and she is always careful not to do the even-it-out-OOPS!-now-I’ve-cut-off-three-inches-too-much thing. She also feathers the ends a little so my hair falls into place even if I’m too lazy to blow dry with the round brush. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Gina for at least 6 years and I always leave extremely satisfied. I love that they use quality products (ie Pureology) and care about customer’s satisfaction.
My hair feels amazing after each cut. I have layers and bangs it seems like she knows exactly what to do. I usually see Gina every 4 – 6 weeks. I love being able to go to a stylist that I can trust. I used to color my hair and I always received countless compliments from others. Gina is terrific with color and highlights (you can also tell from her own her — she’s so stylish!) The price is also pretty reasonable — $ 45 for a cut.
Gina is the owner of the salon and her siblings work with her (Peter & Nina). Both are great as well. Everyone is very friendly and professional. Looking forward to going back soon!

I’m not the type to set-​up appointments cause I have long hair and like it that way! :) Got in and out today. Peter happened to be amazing with giving me a bit of his time for a quick cut/​trim. I loved how careful, gentle and very detail oriented he was with my hair.
I appreciate hard work and making sure I get what I expect to get in the end. I am mostly happy that I was not forced to wash my hair with their products or styled/​blow dry my hair for a reasonable price. I try to have my hair as natural as can be except when I dye my hair. And I can definitely say I will be coming back looking for PETER! :) Thank you Peter!

I came in for a touch-​up of my Japanese hair-​straightening and hair cut. In matter of hours Peter made my hair look silky smooth and flawless. Ladies, I truly recommend Peter for hair-​straightenings — the man know what he is talking about!
Ps. Everyone in the office is complementing my hair :)

Clean, comfortable, friendly little salon with personable staff. I’ve been here three or four times now, and I have always left happy.
I admit I was quite apprehensive the first time, because when I asked Nina to give me an A-​line bob, she wacked and sawed and hacked my hair (rather roughly I thought) with one of those razor type cutters. It’s quite common for Asian-​trained salons to use that thing… and it made me super uneasy because I prefer the scissors… and she seemed to be kinda hacking all over the place very quickly…
…but when I peered nervously at the mirror, my cut was perfect! And it stayed perfect, despite my carefree (a.k.a. lazy) attitude with all my haircuts (no styling or product WHATSOVER… EVER.) I’ve been back to Nina a couple times after that and I always leave happy despite the use of that stupid razor thing.
Peter was the one who gave me my very first color job. I was nervous as hell. My wild self wanted a red that was TOO red, but he suggested a darker red and tactfully pointed out that it would probably go better with my skin tone. Boy, was he RIGHT. I looooooove my new color! I’ve gotten countless compliments on it, thanks to Peter’s sage recommendation. He gave me a cut the same day he colored it (usually I go to Nina), and my only gripe is that I asked him to leave the front as the same length, and to only trim the back, so that I would have a very dramatic A-​line, but the front ended up getting trimmed much more than I had liked. It still looked good though.
The Basics:
They accept walk-​ins but better to make an appointment; I think usually there’s only 1 or 2 of them staffing the place.
Very nice shampoo and scalp massage :)
$ 35 for a cut; can’t find cheaper in the area!
$ 80 for root-​to-​ends color, from what I remember

I asked for about 2 inches total to be taken off of my hair, from just longer than my shoulders to my jawline and for it not to be thinned. My girlfriend, who had her hair cut earlier, that she heard me request this and that the stylist, Peter, repeated it back.
Peter seemingly took all this information and threw it out the fucking window. No part of what I asked for was delivered and no strand of my hair is now longer than an inch. 7 – 8 months of hair growth gone, significantly thinned and then blowdried until I looked like I should be walking out of a Petco. The finished product still looks terrible, despite significant effort to correct.
We paid for both appointments (my girlfriend needed hers redone and is still unsatisfied) and left as quickly as possible. Berating the stylist wasn’t going to correct the problem, but I’m certainly not going to return and feel very strongly about warning others against visiting. Granted, Peter was very nice, the scents are pleasant and the place is clean. All of that is irrelevant when the product you sell is the complete opposite of what the customer requests. One star.

I love Peter and Gina. I don’t let anyone touch my hair but those two. Great colorists and they both can cut really well. They will make sure the colors and style suits you. And these two are the sweetest.
They also keep records of what color they used on your previous visits so there’s no guesswork trying to match the color you got months before.

I came here strictly because of the Unilocal reviews. Gina got great reviews. I asked for Gina. $ 45 later, I wasn’t entirely happy; however, it’s been awhile (maybe even a few weeks ago), and I am very very happy with my haircut.
The shampoo smells nice, there are plenty of magazines to choose from, and an assortment of Costco tea and random Vietnamese coffee (delish!!) to choose from. Gina was very personable and professional.
