We stumbled upon Hobnob looking for a place to eat before a hard night of drinking. Hobnob was the perfect spot for our needs. A menu with a lot of variety to satisfy most any eating requirements and a solid flow of cocktails coming from the bar. The staff was friendly from door to door. The food was good and hearty. I had the Fish and Chips personally and they were excellent. Some of the best I’ve had in a while. Another cool feature that we didn’t have time to partake in was the boardgame shelf in the back. Boardgames and dining seems like such a cool idea and hopefully on my next trip in I can try that out.

3.5 stars. Stopped by here because Monkey King was packed and this place was right next door. From the outside it looks pretty fancy because it was so dark but when you walk in its super chill and there was people playing games at their table. What? Alcohol and board games is the best combination. We were seated right away and ordered some drinks and appetizers. I had the ginger pear martini and my bf got a Moscow mule. Both drinks were your standard $ 9. My martinis was cool but I’ve had better and stronger tasting cocktails elsewhere so I was a little disappointed about that. Should have gotten the Moscow mule because it was super good. For apps I got the spicy chicken wings and oysters. Wings were good, a little pricy for just six wings. But did the job. The oysters were also good they were $ 2.50 each so I got three. Not bad but on the tiny side. I did like the sauce that came with it. Also tried their garlic fries which were really yummy. The chipotle mayo was tasty. The best part of this place wasn’t even the drinks or alcohol but the board games. They have a large selection available. I think we spent an extra hour just playing games. Service was cool too, our waitress checked up on. Overall, a good alternative when Monkey King is packed. And a chill spot to drink and play games.

3.5 stars. Came here on a Friday night because the original place we we’re going to was packed, and I have to say I’m glad that we found this place. We ordered 2 appetizers: Spicy fried chicken $ 9: I was not too pleased with the price. 6 wings for 9 dollars, when you can go to bdubs and get 6 wings for 4 dollars, but these wings were a pleasant surprise. The sauce on their wings are deliciously spicy, just the right amount of kick, and the complimentary sauces match perfectly; then again what doesn’t go well with buttermilk. The wings were decently crispy and had a great amount of meat on them. So was it worth the 9 dollars? No, but if it was 7 dollars, it’ll be well worth it. Fresh oysters: 2.50 each We ordered 3 oysters for 7.50 total. Honestly I’m not a fan of oyster, it’s a texture and flavor thing, honestly an everything thing, I can’t seem to enjoy oysters no matter how much I try it. I can say though, for oysters lovers out there, they aren’t a satisfying size, fairly small. They do have a lovely sauce to which makes oysters somewhat edible for non oyster eaters like me. So if I was able to eat it, then I’m sure it’s very delicious for those who love oyster. Alcoholic beverages: I had the Tito’s mule $ 8,very strong and very delicious, came in a copper cup, very satisfying. The best part about this place is that while you eat/drink, you can play board games. They have a plentiful amount of games from cranium to battleship, from dominos to Apple to apples. Very cool that they have available games; I enjoyed my time here a lot, and I’m sure you will too.

So, this is my 3rd review about Hob Nob & I love this place in general, so I’d say a lot of good things about this place. I still stand by I love this place in the night time & still have all the favorite foods & drinks that I’ve said in the previous reviews. Only difference this time, is that my boyfriend & I came here to treat our friend for his birthday for brunch. Unlimited mimosas brunch Sundays! Greatest deal. It was all of our first times coming here for brunch. The lemon pancake thing is so yummy! I highly recommend getting that! Since I had the unlimited Mimosas special($ 8), our waitress made sure she bring another one, when the current one was getting empty. Will go for brunch tomorrow often.

It’s a nice place to get a drink at a table. Great for groups of friends in a more chill environment. The food is decent, but not spectacular. Pretty solid brunch, the food is only decent, but the unlimited mimosas make it worth it, and the price is worth going.

Two words: Fried Chicken. Being from Los Angeles, chicken and waffles has been a big thing for me since the very first time I ever went to Roscoes. Now that I live in the Bay Area, I though decent chicken and waffles was going to be something I would have to only enjoy once a year when visiting my parents. My Brother introduced us to Hobnob and my life has officially become complete. The friend chicken they serve with their chicken and waffles breakfast is probably the best meal I have had thus far in the area. I love the fact that they are boneless and you can eat them with a fork and knife! Seriously, do yourself a favor and try it!

Meh. All around. Food wasn’t awful but was way too salty and nothing special. Chiliquilus sauce was basically spicy marinara. Service was ok but out server disappeared for a good 15⁄20 minutes? Maybe she was taking a poopoo? Another family next to us was pretty much served drinks and then ignored, they were NOT happy and the manager seemed a little frazzled as to how to deal with them. I would probably only give this spot 2.5 stars but am gonna round up. Also the place kinda stunk and I’m pretty sure was playing techno music. Not really the brunch vibe I was looking for.

I dig this spot in Alameda! I don’t know if it’s the great service, watching cal barely win texas, or if the name sounds like knob job, which I like to say anyway. Came here on a Saturday to meet up with some friends. .one in particular recommended this place. All around great experience. Looking forward to coming back soon !

I really have no complaints about this spot! It’s a great place to go if you want to just have a good time hanging out with some friends. I haven’t tried their brunch yet, but their night time happy hours are awesome in my opinion! I’ve ended up here both times since Monkey King right next door always has the longest wait ever. It’s a good alternative though, if you want to avoid the crowds because there’s always room here. They’ve got a small late night menu but it’s enough if you’ve just got the munchies after grabbing some drinks. The service is quick and the servers are friendly and helpful! Plus the happy hour(late night from 10p — 1a) brings the prices down even lower. They’ve also got a huge selection of games to make the night even more fun. Each time I’ve come, we always pick a game to keep the night going. It gets more fun(and funnier!) as we continue to buy drinks throughout the night while playing. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I want to hang out with some friends in Alameda.

I already know that the lemon ricotta pancake I got at the HobNob will haunt my dreams for weeks to come. It was definitely among the top pancake experiences of my life, and I know my pancakes! But, I digress… My overall experience at the HobNob was quite pleasant. It was a beautiful day, and my friend and I opted to sit outside at one of the three small tables. The HobNob is dog friendly, so don’t be surprised if a pooch is next to you, as it was for us, hoping that we dropped a bit of food. Sorry, pal, I was too hungry to let any go to waste! Service was brisk and friendly. Besides the amazing pancake, we got scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and potatoes. Of course, this was too much food, but boy did we have a great time trying to finish it! Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. We also opted for the $ 8 bottomless mimosas, which was a solid value. Our server never let our glasses get empty, and we had 4(or 5, it’s a little hazy) before we decided to throw in the towel. I would seriously return just for that lemon ricotta pancake, but I was so glad that everything else was just as fantastic!

Hobnob is definitely an awesome spot for a big group of friends to hang out late at night. Their Tito’s Moscow Mule is deliciously refreshing! Their truffle fries is great for sharing with a big group. Also tried their fried calamari and didn’t care much for it.

Im sitting here with friends at bar right now trying to get a drink. Watching them with frosty brews in hand… Not only has the male bartender looked over here twice but he ran my friends card for the round they got just before I arrived. He now continues to just wipe down the bar. He now looked directly at me I said«menu» then he just walked off… Why does the wait list at Monkey King have to be so long

Came here for drinks after dinner since Monkey King was packed. Service was cold and lacking for a bar that only had two other tables. Our server, Elizabeth, was more interested in getting off her shift, then actually helping us order drinks. After she dropped off our drinks, she came by with the bill and asked us to «close out with her, and that the bar was open for another hour». Having been a server in the past, I understand if she wanted to close out and leave for the night, but this was not the case. She was there ’til 11pm(closing time), and had no reason to drop off our tab and ignore us once we paid. The extra star is for their wide variety of board games that my friends enjoyed. With all the other bar options along Park St, I won’t be wasting my time at a place that doesn’t appreciate their guests.

The first time I came it was on a Friday night and my friends and I just wanted to grab a quick drink. I don’t really remember anything that stood out, just your typical pub. The second time was for Saturday brunch. I got the chicken and waffle and my friend got the lemon ricotta pancakes. The chicken was pretty crispy but the waffle was sooo thin. It didn’t have the fluffiness of a waffle because it was so flat. But the lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious. My friend was able to finish only a half because it was so big and fluffy. Food wise it was decent but nothing too extraordinary so I would’ve given 3 stars but the bottomless mimosa gives an extra star. It is pretty much the only place in alameda that I know that has bottomless mimosa. Plus for $ 8 it’s a good deal!

You ever watch those corny customer service videos with the ridiculously bad actors about poor customer service? Well Mr. William at the bar was that bad actor. I’ve been to this establishment in 5 – 6 different occasions and never have I experience such blatant disrespect from anyone here but him. This was Easter and they were fairly empty. No wait staff. 1. No hello, good afternoon, or smile. Mean mug as we walked in. 2. Asked for our ID in a fairly angry tone. 3. Answered a called, asked them to speak louder, exclaimed NO then slammed the phone and told his friend(who was sitting by the bar) whoever called was an idiot for not speaking louder. 4. Asked if I was ready to order, I asked for a drink menu and he shook his head(wtf?) 5. Came by at 9:50pm and said«It’s that time folks»(Took our plates). 6. My drinks were not like what I’m use to here. The mojito actually sucked. On a positive note: The food was good as always and the kitchen staff was pretty friendly. On a negative note for the owner: My friends are just as pissed and they are all Unilocalers. One of them feels he was racist towards us, but I just think he had a stick up his ass that whole night and couldn’t figure how to remove it. On another negative note for the owner: I will not stop reminding my friends to complete their review until they complete one.

I’ve never reviewed this place?! Oh my. This is THE serene, not as ratchet alternative to its neighbor if you want some delicious food and drinks! I’ve come here with my parents, friends, family for lunch, brunch AND dinner/late night snacks and drinks and it has never disappointed. Except for that time I ate the buffalo wings, big ragret(yes, I meant to spell it like that.) Here is the thing, their menu is seasonal, which is a blessing and a curse. You’ll find something you LOVE but most likely won’t eat it again. For this, in hob nob’s seasonal salads I trust. They always have a salad combo that pleases my pallet. They’re very filling too by the way. But that shouldn’t stop you from sharing some delicious fries or(currently) chipotle garlic fries with your friends! And while you’re at it, play some apples to apples. Alcohol makes it a little more fun. Just don’t get the games too sticky, please and thank you. They always have seasonal beers and cocktails but they also have the classics. My only thing is that my mojito is ALWAYS a salad. I said I loved your salads but not in my drink. Tone it down please?
