Today was my second time here. The last time was a few years ago when I had an old dime I wanted appraised before giving it to my granddaughter. The owner was a kindly older man who told me it wasn’t worth much more than its face value, but was still valuable to a child because it was old. He was very helpful. I was surprised to realize I hadn’t written a review then. Today I stopped by to get a sense of how much I could get for an old wedding ring I no longer wear. The woman behind the counter took it, tested the gold content by rubbing the ring vigorously on a pumice-like stone and dripping some liquid on the residue and told me she would give me $ 75 for it. I thanked her and left.

I visited several dealers before coming here and checked the internet. I had some gold and silver coins that I had inherited and wished to sell. No haggling like other places I tried. Albany offered the highest price of the places I contacted. The sale was conducted efficiently and very politely. I had no problems cashing their check. I would do business with this dealer again!

Just sold two gold coins. Very fair price. Honest, friendly, and fast. I did a lot of research– you can easiliy find out the price of gold online– around $ 1380/ounce right now. Most places will either 1. Lie to you about how much gold is in your coin, jewlery, or whatever; or 2. Low ball you, i.e. offer to pay a fraction of what the gold is worth. Albany coin exchange accurately appraised my gold(92% pure on one coind and 58% pure on the other– I had documentation to support this, but they verify). Then they explained the fair market value of the gold, and how much they would pay for it(85% of market value). This 15% cut is their cost of doing business and having the gold extracted by a foundary. This is a very reasonable fee. Most fair market offers are for 70−80% of the value. Any sleazy«Cash 4 Gold» place will more likely give you 30%. If you have gold to sell, this is the place to do it.

The people working at this business are wonderful! Excellent and fair service. It was well worth it to drive all the way out to Albany. I wouldn’t hesitate a second to use Albany Coin Exchange, again.

I had a US Gold Eagle coin to sell. I checked the current rate for gold and had a list of gold and coin buyers I was going to call. I called the Albany Coin Exchange and they offered to buy the coin at only $ 15 under current market value(rounding cents down). I didn’t bother to call the others. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and chatted with me while we worked, and then had me double check the amount on the check because she noted that sometimes when people are chatting and working, a mistake could be made. There wasn’t. I’d recommend them to anyone.
