I’m not even a burger person, but this plane had one of the best burgers I’ve had in the upstate area. Will definitely visit again

Definitely a college quick food service place, nothing fancy or gourmet about this bare bones joint. My husband’s burger was pretty tasty. My mozzarella sticks were really heavily fried and tasted a bit like the fryer oil needed to be changed out. Overall, though, I can’t get past the smell of the restaurant — the open kitchen makes the whole place smell like old oil, and as they were making our food I kept hearing the beeping of a microwave — a bit of a turn off.

Very tasty burgers that are meaty and hearty. Perfect for when you want to gorge on meat and deliciousness and satisfy your craving for a juicy grill.

I’m torn about this place, maybe because several of my Unilocal friends thought so highly of it so maybe my expectations were too high. First impression was that it was small but clean. Very little seating though, that’s a bit of a problem if there’s more than 2 people in there at any given point. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger. The Mac and cheese was fried in bite sized amounts, melted cheese and a beef patty. Yes it was good. However it lacked something, and felt a little artificial for whatever reason. The bun was also yummy. My husband got the chicken and waffle sandwich. The waffles are lackluster and come from a frozen package. The fried chicken was ok. Overall tasted dry. I am a little disheartened by my experience, and I think I’ll give it another try. My biggest complaint is that everything seems to come from a prepackaged source. Sort of a bummer but the menu looks good and it’s worth giving a try.

I had the«one-eyed monster» burger with a veggie pattie. The burger was very tasty, although very greasy. However, the cashier stopped in the middle of ringing me up to take a personal phone call that was a few minutes long. Then they ran out of eggs so the order was delayed. It has the same tone that many student-area restaurants have – the staff seemed to be unsupervised and treated the place like it was their hangout.

This was a nice change of pace for take out. I ordered the O. G burger and it was tasty. It came topped with the usual suspects of cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, and bacon. They also put something called Awesome Sauce on the burger, which provided a nice tang. The fries were fresh cut but by the time they were delivered they were a bit limp. I imagine they’d be awesome coming fresh from the fryer. The onion rings were pretty good too. The delivery time was quick and ordering is available via Grubhub. Overall this was a great detour from the typical pizza/Chinese take out scene. I look forward to seeing what else B&B has to offer.

I thought the burger was delicious! And was really surprised by the size of the burger. It really wasn’t too expensive either which was nice. The overall burger was so good and I would definitely go back there again.

My husband and I have been here twice and had a great experience both times. I had their chicken sandwich & my hubby had a burger. Made well & a great new local spot. They deliver too which is pretty cool.

The iced coffee and burger hit the spot on this hot summer day. I had the El Diablo(burger with jalapeño, pepper jack, and siracha mayo) it was very good and perfectly cooked. I’m looking forward to trying a milk shake the next time I come in, as I will definitely be coming back to enjoy this new addition to the neighborhood.

Update: came back to try and food and really just think this place is awesome. Chicken and waffle was great and el Diablo(burger jalapeño cheddar jack cheese) was great too. the service both times I have been here is very friendly and welcoming. I’m so excited I can walk here from home. I also like that sides aren’t included. It means I’ll only eat them if I really want them. And the sandwiches on their own are more than enough.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good my burger was. Actually, I was shocked. My burger was fantastic. It was as good as any local burger I’ve ever had. It’s even in the same league as the big boys like Five Guys. Yes, it’s that good. I ordered the«El Diablo Burger». The menu describes it as such: «Pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, Sriracha mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. 100% fresh beef.» Two ½″ thick beef patties on a soft bun. The patties were well seasoned, and had a good crust on them, and they were dripping with fat without being overly greasy. They were cooked medium, with a little pink in the center. The cheese – to my delight – melted with the beef fat to create a gooey, cheesy, beefy, juicy burger. The mayo only added to the goodness, and the fresh jalepenos and Sriracha, added a nice kick, but wasn’t too spicy. The fries were also very good. Obviously fresh cut and not frozen, they had just the right amount of salt, and were crunchy, crispy, and hot out of the fryer. I’m a believer in Bun and Bean. This place makes a seriously good burger, and one of the best in the area.

Talk about a one stop shop! Burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes ice cream and coffee! I was excited to try my chicken and waffles sandwich(fried chicken in b/w 2 waffles served with maple honey mustard) but my excitement slowly dwindled after 20 minutes of waiting for my sandwich which then took less than 4 min to come out after I reminded them about my order! I can only give them a 3 based on this experience both for the order mishap and the waffles on the sandwich. The chicken and the honey mustard were good but the waffles were a bit chewy and could have been much better. As for the sweets, I did not partake. Mostly because I chose to have dessert first(no surprise there) and I walked in with fro-yo in hand. But another set of patrons got the chocolate shake and it looked like they’d definitely need a spoon for it. One perk: they’re on perka! I scored a free iced coffee as part of their intro offer(a free soda, hot or iced coffee)! The iced coffee was actually quite good– considering it was free and from a burger shop, I wasn’t expecting much. Despite this(hopefully) isolated episode, I think this place has potential. I love that they offer such variety in both the food and drink dept. I believe in 2nd chances so I’ll most likely give this place another shot… TBC

The burgers are good and have been perfectly cooked both times I’ve been there. The shakes are good and the real thing. The staff has been fun and friendly. My biggest dissatisfaction is the large burgers have two thick rounded patties on top of each other and there is just no way to eat it without unhinging your jaw as another reviewer said. You just can’t do it. So I got the small burger last time and that worked better, but I would have preferred more meat. There are 3 small tables inside, I recommend eating there if you can, so your burger is at its peak.

I was hoping Bun & Bean would be Albany’s answer to the Brown Bag of Troy — a college joint with good, fun, and greasy food. I got a John Wayne burger and my partner got the El Diablo. They were both good! I wish the fries were included instead of being a side order with an additional charge. My burger was a little overdone to my liking, but the place showed a lot of potential. Hopefully with a little time it will be as great as Brown Bag. I will definitely go back. I can’t wait to try the fries & shakes! Service was great!

Before I lose my mind trying to describe the food, I must give some important background. When I arrived here tonight to pick up the food my friends and I ordered over the phone, I was literally ready to eat a corpse just to quench the hunger. BUT… As I’m sure most of you know all too well… just about any good meal can be ruined when you wan 2 of everything on the menu. We called the order in, which was some milk shakes, burgers and large fries. I had the Big Boy build-your-own burger with cheddar cheese, onion rings, and 2X the normal burger sized helping of bacon. And mustard. I rolled out there with my buddy’s girlfriend because he had to shower, and our food order was way more than one person could be expected to handle. My biggest question is how does one person expect to haul that much awesome? Yeah. Exactly. We got back to the house and immediately began to pillage this fine American feast. The burger was quite generous, and the bacon really added some height to that burger. The bun was great, buttery, and if I remember, slightly toaster. I really cant remember because I practically inhaled that burger like a boss. One thing I found unique about the food was that if you binge eat it, you don’t want to fetch a gun so you can kill yourself like as if you were to completely pig out on Red Robin. The burger was cooked just right. Juicy. tender. My only complaint is that my jaw doesn’t unhinge like an anaconda, so I had to get fancy so I could get it all in there. The bacon on the burger was delightful, and just crispy enough without making it too crispy. The Milkshakes. If you go here and don’t get one, you just wasted a trip. The milk shaker were perfect. My vanilla milkshake hit the spot without being too sweet or too thick. The taste was amazing, and the texture was perfect for consuming through a straw. I will update my review when I rise out of my food coma. This place is a must. Just beware of parking, if you are trying to get here during times when there is little to no street parking, you might have to walk. I can see parking being a problem for these guys in the winter time, but I’d go through snowbanks to get this in the winter time.
