My husband and I have been staying in Econo Lodge in Colonie NY since last August. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially the hotel manager, Bob. The hotel is pet friendly which is important for us as we always travel with our dog. The rooms are very spacious and clean, hotel offers small breakfast. It is also conveniently located near Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, shopping mall and movie theatre.

Checked in for a two day stay, check in was easy. The appearance looked fine, plenty of space to park the rooms are old, toilets are old, the building is two stories. For about $ 60 – 65 a night that’s what you’ll get here. They did let us do a free upgrade from two doubles to one King. For it being 40 degrees you’de expect a blanket, no this hotel won’t have it. The pros are they are Dog friendly, no grass or anything for dogs to go to however. Breakfast sucks don’t waste time going unless you want a plain bagel or plain toast with warm OJ. Convenient location to airport, downtown Troy is about 11 – 12 miles away. We noticed many hotels to the left and right of it and colonie beverage store is a great place to grab beer and Price chopper is close by. I believe this establishment is family run and needs some slight touch ups. They do have cable and a semi working fridge and freezer in each room that some hotels will charge you extra for. Free parking and we only really recommend coming to stay if all I need is a bed to sleep at night. Nothing pretty about this Econo lodge

Puts the economy in Econo Lodge. I walked in the front door to an empty desk, waited for one person to help me, and waited again for«the other guy» to actually check me in. First room was almost entirely behind the cinder block brick wall leading up to the second floor. Felt like you were in a cave. After asking for a room change, not without resistance from the front desk(seriously?), I was put in a second room. While it had a clear view to the HoJo next door, it was so musty I had to check to make sure it was a non-smoking room(it was). As I got settled in, I noticed not one, not two, but three flies in the room. Just gross. Don’t worry future guests, I killed them. Also, don’t expect anything great in the free continental breakfast — you’ll have the choice of cheerios, chex, or a mini muffin. Next time I kick in the extra bucks for a better hotel(this one was ~$ 70 with taxes). On the bright side, management let me check in 90 minutes early. Thanks, guys.
