First time eating here. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was clean. The sushi ranks up there with some of the good ones I have had in Atlanta. We definitely will return!

My favorite restaurant in Albany. Best sushi in albany, fantastic service, been here over 20 times and every time is better than the last. Love the owner, he remembers your name, greets every customer, and is very friendly and has a good sense of humor.

Same steakhouse show everywhere you go. They fill you up with fried rice, and give you little piece of meat at the end. hurry you out, by offering to-go boxes and the check. Total price for 2 people $ 60. small portions, ordered sushi which were small and tasteless…

I’ve been to Mikata on multiple occasions for both hibachi and sushi. I’ve never had a bad experience and this is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Albany. If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, Mr. Kim and his staff will show you a great time. Anne is also a pleasure to have as your waitress as she is outgoing and extremely friendly. Within moments of meeting her or any of the staff you feel like a regular, even if its your first time dining here. I would highly recommend any sushi on their menu, but don’t forget their specials above the sushi station. It is here that you’ll find some rolls you definitely do not want to miss out on.

I absolutely love this place. I’ve never had a bad experience. They are a but pricey so we usually only go for important celebrations. They always put on a great show and make you laugh. I get the shrimp and steak and it is so good. If you go here you will not be disappointed

The sushi and hibachi chicken were really delicious. The waitress was exceptionally pleasant as well. The only reason why I didn’t give five stars is because we really wanted to sit at the sushi bar but were forced by who appeared to be the owner to sit at a table instead. While I understand it might have been more convenient, isn’t the customer always right?

First and last time I will ever go there. I sat down at the grill, reached for my napkin and there was a roach about an inch long on the table. Manager didn’t even apologize and called me a liar straight to my face.

This place has the best sushi in town! I travel here weekly for work, and eat here at least 2 to 3 times a week! There sushi is the freshest you will find. Definitely give them a chance, been to several sushi restaurants in town and none of them even come close

Love, love, love this place! The service is ALWAYS fabulous and the sushi is to die for! We go several times a month and have done so for several years. The hibachi is also great. Some of our fav sushi dishes are the Lambada roll, the Albany Special roll, and our daughter loves the Drunken Tiger!

Soup was good. Not really hot enough in temperature for me though Food was very good and service was good. Good conversation at the table with all diners.

I’ve eaten at Mikata’s a few times and it has always been good. However, I think the competition for this place has really gotten steep in Albany and there are other alternatives in Albany such as Shogun and Tokyo. The show is a general treat and similar to other Japanese restaurants in other towns where a chef will prepare a meal on a hibachi grill in front of the diners. The biggest caveat is that they tend to be very expensive compared to their competition. They are in a small shopping center and it isn’t all that obvious. You will likely have a great meal with a much lighter wallet when you walk out.

We will never eat ever again!!! The chicken was raw and the steak had a Funny taste to it. We ate only a little and my wife started to get sick. We paid our bill and left. Which was $ 64.00. The cook was inexperienced and clumsy With all of our food. We called them to try to explain what happened and the co-manager actually laughed at my wife and told her to go to the hospital. And hung up. I called back and spoke with a man named, Kim, he told me there was nothing he could do. Never even offered a refund or anything. He told me, I should have stayed and talked to the waitress or manager. I tried to explain that my wife was sick and we had to leave, she actually threw up in the parking lot. He basically said, to bad, so sad, nothing I can do for you. When I asked him, if he knew about Unilocal,he said yes, and when I told him, I was going to write a bad review and call the health department. He said now, I was threatening him. So, to bad, I can’t help you. This is the worst customer service I have ever had and I hope, Kim, reads this and hopefully it will many people from going there. It is worst Japanese steakhouse, I have ever been to, and would never set foot back in this horrible place. Nasty Nasty. Nasty

Haven’t been to Mikata for several years, because we moved away to north Georgia, but when we lived in Albany/Leesburg area, this was the best place to go for sushi and hibachi style Japanese cooking. We loved it, and the owner was always very friendly to us. We used to travel around in the summers all over the southeast, and each place we went, my son had to hit the local Japanese Restaurant like Mikata’s, but we never found one as good as Mikata’s to us. Hope to get back to Mikata’s one day soon.

Great food, but they charge for things most places don’t charge for, and they do this without telling you.

I LOVED this place. Fresh off of a plane from California I jumped at the chance to eat Japanese food in Albany. I love eating at smaller locally-owned places and was thrilled. I wasn’t disappointed. I had gyoza and chicken teriyaki and it was great. I had a lovely talk with the staff and loved everything. The miso was great too. This food is great… the staff is even better… yummy fun in Southern georgia. And in southern tradition… to-go cup! It’s like heaven!

Came here for dinner because my husband raved about forever! I was not impressed. The food was okay, but I’ve had better teppanyaki @ Kobe Steak House in Hawaii. The two sauces that they gave was either too salty or overly sweet. Our server was nice and even gave my baby boy free ice cream. Since this is only one of two Japanese restaurant in Albany, I’ll probably be back again.
