Mr. C’s for Hair

I have been coming to see Mr. C for years and its about time I write this Unilocal review! Mr. C is probably one of the best hair stylist I have ever been too and that includes LA. He is very personable and the price is affordable. The only thing I really like about him and very impressed by is that he is a one man show and remembers every persons last hair treatment, cut, style etc which shows he really cares and always recommends the best products. I don’t see myself going else where until I move from the state

Mr c. was fantastic… he goes out of his way to make you comfy and his experience definitely shows. I’m in love with my hair now!

This is a warning. I read the rave reviews for this place, so I made an appointment. I received a voicemail message from the Mr. C’ Salon a left 2 hours before my appointment changing my relaxer service to a blow out! I know it sounds crazy! They asked me to pick up on my way over my product or accept a different service! Alternatively, Tanya remembered that I had an event and was willing to do a style, but not a relaxer. I did not check my messages until I was headed over there for my appointment. When I called to find out what was going on, there was no answer. The phone just rang– no machine, just no answer. So all of a sudden I was calling all over town trying to find a salon.
I will point out in fairness when I initially made my appointment, they were pleasant and responsive. Also I had made a request for a high end relaxer called Phytospecific (an Oprah favorite based on egg and soy with no scary chemicals.) We made the appointment with enough lead time so that Tanya could get this special relaxer. I have no idea what happened, but a professional would have called me to cancel or reschedule more than 2 hours before my appointment. If she was not willing to procure the relaxer, she should have not offered to do so.
Anyone have a suggestion for a good reliable salon in the area? I am afraid to try to go back to this one, even if I could reach them by phone.

I walked in and instantly knew I came to the right place. I’ve never had such an entertaining experience while getting a hair cut. Not a dull moment here! I was really impressed with my hair cut, and so were my housemates when I got home. As I left Mr. C’s I was reminded that «when you come here you become family» I won’t go anywhere else for a hair cut.

Note: might be closed on Thursdays. I love my hair cut! And such a great experience; I was searching for somewhere to get my hair cut. Just happened by Mr. C’s, which is on Solano right by the BART tracks; I saw the «cuts» sign and walked in. This guy didn’t know me from Adam — but he found time for me, if I was willing to wait, and he gave me a GREAT haircut. So wonderfully different from a mall chain plastic cookie cutter experience; this guy has been here for 30 years and he loves what he does for a living. What a joy. This is a small place, with mostly an African-​American clientele, I think, but I’m this middle-​aged white lady with straight, straight hair. And Mr. C gave me a great hair cut! He knows what he’s doing no matter what your hair type; I could tell, this guy is the real deal, very good with the scissors. He listened to me, and he is very friendly and real and … I am so going back here to get my hair cut. No more chain stores for me. Oh, and it was only $ 20.00. Did I mention that he takes checks?! I am so happy with my hair cut.
