Yum yum yum. Great bread, fabulous meats, and super friendly service. Mixed Italian is the best in town. A sub is two meals for me(a 5’10″ 200lb guy), and it is even better the next day.

Best sub in Albany! The guys behind the counter are talkative and friendly. I have tried subs all over the capital district and seem to find myself coming back over and over!

Definitely one of the top spots in the area for a sub. The bread is crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside, and the portions of meat are great. They actually cut the meat to order, so you know it’s fresh. Their grocery section is awesome too, and carries authentic Italian goods. Staff is always friendly, and extremely efficient. Love coming here for a sub fix, with reasonable prices!

I must have driven right past Pellegrino’s more times than I can count. But I’ve never, ever noticed it before. In a region full of great Italian markets, somehow this one was entirely off my radar. I’m glad to report, that is no longer the case. My stop here was driven by a desire to find some homemade Italian sausages and meatballs. We had some old friends visiting from the west coast, and this kind of everyday fare is quite special for them. It’s my son who is the meatball aficionado. So far, his favorite come from an Italian market in Providence, Rhode Island. And my mother brings them with her on ice, whenever she comes up for a visit. But there are times in between when we run out of meatballs. Therefore, it’s important to have a local option. We’ve been looking for a while, but still had not found an adequate substitute. But it seems that Pellegrino’s may be the new local meatball of record. It’s tender and has some seriously deep flavor, so I’m on board too. The sweet Italian sausage isn’t half bad either. Future visits will definitely be in order, and I hope this positive first impression ultimately results in a fifth star as the market continues to surprise and delight me with its excellent products and friendly service.

Best subs in the capital district! The guys behind the counter are always friendly, speedy, and nice to talk to. Try the tortellini salad to go with your Italian sub! We get the dressing on the side because a large sub usually doesn’t get finished in one sitting. Highly recommend this place.

My favorite sandwich place in Albany. Great quality lunch meats(Boar’s Head) and breads. I usually get fresh mozzarella and hot pepper relish on my sandwich — delicious! Also try their oil and vinegar on subs. Good sized portions and friendly service. Some interesting cookies/pastas/other misc Italian grocery items in the store as well. Figuring out where to stand/order can be a little confusing.

Real deal Italian provisions. Exactly like a good salumeria back home. They even had Brooklyn Pastosa ravioli. You know it is good when you are on line with some Italian grandmothers doing their Saturday shopping. I had a lasagna with meatballs and thought it was great. If we are in Albany again we will go back for sure! So much to eat, so little time.

Nice big subs made with Boarshead meats on a tasty Italian sub roll. Eggplant Parm is especially good.

Hands down… one of the best places to order food, especially if you are looking for a place to cater food, for a event. I had such a great experience with Pellegrino’s. Benny the owner is the man! He and his staff took care of everything. My boss retired and we threw her a party. Food ordered was baked ziti, eggplant parm, meatballs and chicken marsala. Having a bad experience with another well know place in Albany that we ordered food from for our Christmas party I was concerned.(Out of respect I will not mention the place but it is on Central Ave and is well known) Just another little side note: Pellegrino’s is opening another store in Malta, where the old Just Meats business was, I am stoked! The staff and my boss raved about all the food. Personally I thought it was the best eggplant and baked ziti we have ever ordered. The eggplant was cooked to perfection, when you cut into it it was actually pieces of eggplant and NOT mush. The ziti was cooked properly as well. Many places cook the crap out of ziti where is it soft and mushy. Pellegrino’s cooks their ziti al dente! Finally a place that knows how to cook pasta correctly! We are planning on ordering food here for our Christmas party. I can’t wait to try their sausage, that they make fresh«in house». Thanks Benny and your staff on a fabulous lunch-in.

Best subs in Albany hands down. Great rolls. A little crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Generous portion of tasty boars head meats and cheeses. Ask for the sharp Provo on the Italian mix and get smacked in the face with flavor. Staff is great too. It’s LaJoie’s favorite too. He says its way better than genoa.

Walking into this Italian/Greek Deli puts a smile on my face. Fast, friendly service, with fresh & delicious food/subs. Be sure to try their homemade tzatziki! I don’t think you will be disappointed with anything Pellegrino’s has to offer.

I’m not sure why this place has no reviews and why I haven’t reviewed it yet. Pellegrinos is my absolute favorite place for a sub in the capital district, and trust me, I am a fan of subs and have tried pretty much every deli/importing shop in the area. All of the guys who work in here are super friendly and helpful. I come in here quite often so they are always chatty with me, asking how I am, what’s new, etc. Genuinely nice guys. They use boars head meats in here, which are top quality. They also have lots of other good stuff you would find in a normal Italian import store. The store is a good size, not cramped at all. Has a good layout. Lots of parking. Very clean too. It gets busy during lunch time with people ordering sandwiches and subs, but they have a lot of people working and you should be in and out quickly. The subs are outstanding. The bread they use is great and they pile them high with quality meats. The prices are fair as well for the quality and size.
