We ordered a $ 450 corset in April. It was promised to us in 4 weeks. They stopped taking our calls in July. It’s now mid September and I am planning to file fraud charges. What a waste of talent.

I love corsets. I own several, and understand the importance of an excellent, custom fit. I was excited to find Xcentricities at an event I attended on November 10, 2012. Their corsets are beautiful, featuring original designs and unusual fabrics. They measured me, took my(substantial) deposit and explained that they had a lot of orders to fulfill, but I’d have my corset well before Christmas. On December 12th I emailed them to obtain a status report. No response. On February 3rd2013(86 days after I placed my order) I emailed them again, telling them to deliver the corset immediately or refund my deposit. Finally, today(Feb 4th) I got a response, telling me that they were going to «drop all production» and finish my order today.(Perhaps I was supposed to feel guilty about forcing them to put aside their other work to finish something they had told me would be done and delivered months ago? Well, it didn’t work.) It appeared they had in fact done the work because I got a second email asking about the balance due on my order.(I guess their bookkeeper is competent!) I authorized payment and received the corset. — It is lovely, and it fits well, though they use cording with some give to it, rather than sturdy ribbon, which makes it harder to lace to the right tightness. In sum: The product is nice but was NOT was worth the wait. If you don’t live somewhere that allows you to go in and harass them in person about your order, don’t buy anything from them unless they have a perfect fit in your size so that you can walk away with your purchase. They make nice things but they are not reliable. Even now, every time I take the corset out to wear I am reminded of the hassle involved in getting it, and the lack of customer service. It certainly takes some of the enjoyment out of wearing it. They clearly take on more work than they can handle, and the only thing they are on top of is collecting their money. I am left feeling more resentful than pleased; I would not do business with them again.

*headdesk* So I bought a $ 500 corset at NorWesCon(Easter weekend) from pretty much the ONLY people there who sell corsets.( ) It was lovely and fit beautifully. I had to take it back the next day because there was a problem with some of the boning poking out. I STILLDONOTHAVEMYCORSETBACK. The reason? The man who is in charge of this in home company and is in charge of making sure he and his wife get it fixed and back to me spaced out and forgot. This would be totally fine by me except he LIED to me. He lied to save face and to save his own ass. It started with him telling me he was very sick after the con. Maybe he actually was, but after how many other stories I’ve been told this is sort of in question. I called him on the 4th and he said it was in the mail. I called him today and basically called him out on the fact that he has been lying to me when I would much prefer the truth. I don’t love the fact that he’s forgotten about my corset and not gotten it fixed but I HATE, DESPISE, and LOATHE being lied to. Not once have they contacted me. Every single time I have had to contact them to get anything in this frustrating process moving along. So yeah, I’m sharing this because you really need to know what you are getting into with these people. He said they are working on how they do things so that this doesn’t happen again. I guess time will tell. Warn your friends. If it is perfect off the rack you are fine. But heaven help you if it needs to be fixed.
