Yesterday was our first time eating here. It was my husbands birthday dinner and we have heard a lot of great things about it. Upon our arrival we were greeted and immediately seated, there were 6 in our party. We sat outside on the covered deck which is really cool and has a beach feel to it. We ordered a little bit of everything pork, seafood and frog logs. The food was all very good except the fries but not a big deal just choose a different side. My steam pot had plenty of food in it, but my daughters looked a little disappointing crab legs and shrimp but for the price it just seems like she could’ve ordered more for a better price. Overall I will be back. I loved my food and the atmosphere.

I had been here before maybe 10 years ago but didn’t remember much about it. My family just got into town & needed to get something to eat so we went here because it is convenient to where we are staying. Our waitress was high as a kite. Brought our drinks &1 appetizer but not the other 2. Took our dinner orders. After about 30 mins she brought the remaining 2 appetizers that had obviously been sitting around for awhile & been reheated. Then she came to apologize saying that she entered our orders in the computer but forgot to press«submit» and another waitress had deleted it. This was after we’d been sitting there for an hour. She said she had just gone to check on our food & discovered it hadn’t been made(we had been there an hour by then & she just noticed we didn’t have food!!). She was super flaky, obviously high & kept making excuses, including telling us her entire life sob story. After an hour and a half &2 other waitresses helping, we finally got our food. It was ok, not great, a little overpriced but by then we were starving. During this entire time the manager never visited our table. There were 8 people in our party with 2 separate checks. They took $ 10 off each, which was really pathetic considering the lengthy wait & sub-par food. While we were still sitting there our original waitress started bussing our table, wiping it down & telling us again how tired she was from working multiple jobs & that her dad just died & her kids were gone & said she wasn’t trying to make excuses(uh, what are you doing then??). She rambled on & on, saying she needed to find another job & that she’s bilingual, then pointed to possibly a Hispanic guy in a booth & said that was her boyfriend & that she taught herself Spanish(remember I said she was high). I said something to her in Spanish & she had no idea what I said. On our way out a guy going in asked if she had been our waitress & said she did the same thing to him last time he was there, although one of the other waitresses told us it was her first night & that’s why she messed up. To make a long story short, horrible waitress, very warm inside, smoking allowed in the dining room, takes forever to get food that’s not very good & costs more than it’s worth but great view of the river.

On a trip to WV to see family, the first trip in 10 years or more, I read Unilocal reviews of this place, and as it got good reviews and was centrally located to a lot of my family, we decided to give it a chance. This was a VERY important family time, as many had died, new babies had been born, folks were getting older… you know the way it is. We had a medium/large party, 8 adults, and it was at dinner time, 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday AFTER a holiday, and the place was NOT crowded. While the waitress was absolutely as nice and capable as possible, she was run ragged, as it seemed the place was short staffed. We sat for 20 minutes awaiting our drinks, then another 30 waiting to simply order our meals. The waitress told us how great the side dishes were, sold them up big, and we ordered Hush Puppies, grilled veggies, french fries, baked potatoes, and other sides, along with our barbecue meat choices. After about another 40 minutes waiting, the flustered girl comes back with the food, only to tell us, unknown to her, they were«out» of the baked potatoes, the Hush Puppies, and the grilled veggies. When we asked what other sides we could get, we ordered mostly fires, but then, only about two of the four orders ever came. An order of fried green tomatoes came long after the meal was done, and they were a sorry, soggy greasy mess. Inedible. Some of us asked for merely a glass of water to drink. We got bottled water and were charged for it. What? No tap and ice in a cup? Some asked for coffee, eventually got it, and when asked if they’d like a refill, found that they had been charged for TWO coffees on the bill. Now for the barbecued meat review: Lackluster, dull, unappetizing, and totally unfit for a decent review. Served COLD. It tasted no better than what you might get in an average grocery store deli. The ribs were okay, but nothing special, again, like a grocery store gives you. The pulled pork, dry and cold. Yuck. The brisket, tough chewy and dry and cold. The serving sizes varied all over the table. Three people ordered the pulled pork entrée and the sizes of the portions varied by as much as half. When the waitress realized the sides were unavailable, she suggested that the establishment could cut us a deal and not charge us full price for the meals, or give us drinks for free or something. She went to ask, and the manager came by and refused to do ANYTHING about it, saying, «The price of the meals are what they are, they cannot change them because we didn’t get all our sides.» She also refused to comp three beers and two coffees and three WATERS. She told us, «the owner is in tomorrow, you can take it up with him» and walked off. Now for the rest: Bathroom, passable, but no sink(!) instead there is a sink outside the washroom that was for all to use. Music: Too loud for the size of the place and minuscule crowd. They actually allow smoking on the porch of the facility, INTHEDININGAREA, which blew my mind. I don’t know any place that allows this, and that in itself is a definite turn off when I am trying to eat a meal. My grandfather used to smoke while we ate dinner, it was like that. When the barbecue joint at the Airport in Charlotte North Carolina actually has a more appetizing look, and smell than a supposed«real» barbecue place, you know something is way-y-y wrong. First and LAST.

Good food, great service. Had hotdogs and fries. The hotdogs were really tasty. Our waitress was super nice. It’s a dive bar out in the country, but that’s our kind of place. Nice large deck on the Greenbrier river with tables. Live bands on the weekends with drink specials. We are excited go back and hang with some friends.
