This family owned business certainly treated me right! The arm of my beloved sofa caved in. I went in with a photo and to pay the deposit fee(something they require before coming to your house) and was given a lesson on how furniture is made by the owner. Based on his explanation, I was able to repair the arm on my own. He was kind enough to take the time to talk to me and save me a ton of money. I really appreciate his honesty, and his wife was about as nice as a person can get. When I have future furniture repair/upholstery needs, I will certainly make this my go to place.

An ‘old school’ business, Jad took time to explain how he intended to repair our dining chair. He was honest and straight forward and we are very happy with the results. Very nice, friendly people.

interior designers dream! Jad is an artist… don’t be put off if he determines whether he wants to work with you upon your first meeting or phone interview… he is an artist and that’s what you want believe me. Small business owner who does fantastic custom upholstery, furnish refinishing. And Persian rug care and repair. Jad is the best in the DC area.

The family that operates this establishment are without a doubt the rudest people I have ever encountered.

Expert knowledge + transparent cost estimate. Amazingly kind customer service in both upstairs upholstery selection shop + downstairs basement workshop.

A & Jad’s did great work cleaning and fixing my damaged vintage couch cushions and a dhurrie rug after an unfortunate incident with a hot coal. Definitely recommend for rug and upholstery repair.

This business is run in a very old-school manner, but — of course — furniture restoration is an old-school skill. And, man, do they have the skill. Yes, you can expect to spend time listening to what they will try to do to fix your item(in our case, two antique tables damaged by movers). However, you can also expect to be pleased with the results, and the price. We are definitely bringing some more antiques to them for some much-needed TLC.

Our needs were rather simple for their level of expertise — we needed to get the table to open up correctly and get the additional panel to line up with the rest of the table. They came, they conquered, and then showed us how to make everything work smoothly in the future for ourselves! Jad complimented the table(which I thought was fairly cheap but is apparently quality wood), and pointed out some pieces that could require some additional work in the future BUT told us exactly how to do it ourselves. I agree with Meredith(previous reviewer) in that you can’t be easily offended, though I didn’t find anything he said offensive whatsoever. He has a tiny bit of a typical craftsman’s rough edge, but he was kind and funny and told a couple of good stories! It’s a wife-and-husband team that runs this business, and his wife was pleasantly communicative on the phone before the appointment. Jad came to our home(thankfully) on a Saturday morning(even better!) and we certainly got our inspection fee’s worth! I highly recommend them for any furniture job, big or small!

Took my oriental rug there for cleaning. They made it very clear to me that they were not affiliated with Hadeed on Duke Street. And that I should never take my rugs to Hadeed because they have to fix all of Hadeed’s mistakes. So when I picked up my rug, which supposedly Jad cleaned, it had a Hadeed tag attached to it. They either clean rugs or they don’t; but don’t lie about who does the work.

We just had a fifty year old Windsor style rocking chair repaired by Jad and are extremely happy with the results and overall experience. As Meredith mentioned in her review, Jad provided an extremely honest assessment of what we could expect from the repair and how long it would take. I felt like i was getting the work of a true craftsman as opposed to someone who was just going to slap a few screws into the chair to hold it together. This level of craftsmanship takes time and money(in the case of our chair, 3 months and ~$ 200 to fix several cracked spindles and bring the chair back to usable condition). Bottom line, if you wan’t the highest quality repair and are willing to accept these costs, i think you’ll be extremely happy with the results. Recommend looking up his location online before heading over as the store isn’t the easiest to find. I agree with Meredith’s review and recommend reading it.

Seinfeld gave American popular culture the character of the Soup Nazi. The man who made delicious soup but who wouldn’t hesitate to declare, «No soup for you!» should one fail to follow procedure. I like to affectionately think of Jad as the Refinishing Nazi.(or the Restoration Nazi, or the Rug Cleaning Nazi.) If you’re easily offended, don’t go see Jad. If you’re in a rush, don’t go see Jad. If you DO want a brutally honest assessment of the value of your piece, and what it’s worth to work on, then definitely go see Jad. He’s crude. He’s brusque at times. He can be a little hard to take. But he’s been doing this for years(he took over the business from his father) and he’s fair, and he does great work. For an oriental rug /antique loving gal like myself, Jad is my go-to guy for all my restoration and repair.
