I went there because of the good review.
First of all, you can’t make appointment they just accept walk-​in. Secondly, my barber was an asian lady who did’t speak good English and while I try to explain what I want she wasn’t paying attention. The most important thing is that I get a very very ugly haircut, which was not even near what I asked for. I gave them 2 stars because they were nice, other than that I will give them a star only.

Not an old establishment but someday it will be. They are great people and do a professional job every time

If you want to solid men’s haircut and don’t want to pay salon prices this is the best place to go. They take their time and give you exactly what you’re looking for. For most men it’s hard to find a barbershop you like but Arzum hits the mark.

In Alexandria for business in DC. I was in bad need of a haircut. Walked in on Monday after work about 6 pm. Chair was open. I like the way he cut my hair. Different than anyone had ever done.

This place is simply outstanding!
I have been struggling to find a consistently good barber in Old Town for some time — I came across the Unilocal reviews a few months back for Arzum and decided to give it a shot. I could not have been happier. I’m on my 4^th or 5^th cut from them now and each one has met or exceeded expectations.
I have had cuts from both the man and the woman (I’m horrible with names) and each has been great.
You will not be disappointed!

I did a recent walk in and Arzu did my hair. I’ve been looking for a good barber/​stylist for some time and was super satisfied with the job she did. They have been open for about 10 months. She is a hair artist.

I am very picky with my haircuts, and was struggling to find a new barber since moving to Old Town. I would sometimes go to a few place in DC but that was inconvenient. I have gotten my haircut here twice now and Arzum takes her time to ensure that you are happy and look good.
The $ 18.00 haircut is very reasonable for the area.

Ms. Arzu is, by far and away, the best barber I have ever been to and, at 65, I’ve been to quite a few (as well as «stylists»). I came upon the Arzum Barbershop by way of Unilocal!Ratings and was totally impressed by her skill and attentiveness. By way of showing this is an independent review, I do wish she would sweep the floor between customers; I did not like navigating my way through other people’s clippings. I shall also add a confession. I was not sure whether to tip, as she is the owner of the barbershop and I didn’t, since it used to be considered an offense. I regretted it since and will take care of it the next time I go back. But, in my opinion, no other barber — and certainly not the new high-​end chains — comes close.

After my longtime barber retired I needed a new barber shop so i thought I’d try Arzum Barber Shop. This probably was one of the best decisions I ever made. Kim spent time listening to how I wanted my hair cut and the results were fantastic. Her attention to detail was out this world, I will recommend to all my friends to try it out.

I moved to the area a few months ago and needed to find a new barber, just walked in one day and Mindy was available and she did and excellent job! Been back numerous times since and will definitely continue to return.

Im super picky on who I choose to cut my hair, especially my beard. But recently other barbers have become less reliable or way too pricey. I went to Arzum’s after seeing great reviews and thought id check it out. Don’t regret it at all. Was taken care of within 10 minutes of my walk in. hair cut and beard trim were superb. Quality hot towel treatment and hair product. Worth it, check them out.

First review i’ve left on Unilocal,for good reason. I’ve never had my haircut by (Arzu?) the proprietor, i’ve only had it done by (Miysu?). I know i’m misremembering her name, it’s embarrassing. She is the Asian woman in one of the pictures. She genuinely cares about your hair, and she is technically one of the better hair stylists i’ve ever been to. I was not expecting that when I came here the first time.
Breakdown:
— Relatively inexpensive, even for those on a budget.
— Always clean.
— Always have smiles on their faces, very friendly.
— Sometimes busy, but comfortable if you have an extended wait.
— Great location if you live in Old Town.
IMPORTANT: What sets them apart though, is something very simple, they never give you the impression that they are rushing. They care whether you like the way your hair looks, and they will keep you there until you are happy. They take their time, regardless of how many people are waiting.
I’m not looking for conversation, or a transcendent experience, necessarily — I just want someone to take the time and energy to care about my hair. And (Miysu?) has don’t that the handful of times i’ve been there — Today in fact, I asked her to try something different, a little more adventurous. It turned out great, but she said, if I go home and see I need it touched up or something changed, to come back and she will take care of it. THAT, is why I left 5 stars.
This place deserves to succeed.

Absolutely amazing! Arzu is so great! She always takes her time, very detailed work, I always leave satisfied. And will be back, and would recommend her again and again! Arzu rocks!!!

Very patient, listens to what you want and not hurried at all.

Ps. Without a doubt the cleanest bathroom I’ve seen in a barber shop (like I said, I’m picky).

I got a haircut and beard trim from Mindy. She did a stellar job, took her time, and really paid attention to detail. I highly recommend this establishment. The price was very fair for the great service I received.

My husband loves this place! We just moved to town and he looked for a while before finding his place. He raves about her customer service and he always comes home relaxed and looking great!

Arzu has been cutting my husband’s hair for a few years. We were so glad to hear that she opened her own shop and finally made it to Old Town to see it. She did a great job — as always — and both the price and location cannot be beat.

She’s very good at cutting hair, and very nice! My bf has been going to her for years because she’s the only one who does a good job. She always leaves him looking fresh and handsome!

If you need a haircut in old town that’s quick, no head massage in a clean cheerful place, then come here. I’ve lived here since 2007 and this is the best place so far.

Arzu has cut my hair for years. Truly a great barber/​stylist. I know that I’ll get the quality cut that I want — no exceptions. The new location is fantastic! Clean, contemporary, and very accessible in old town Alexandria.
I cannot recommend a better place for a haircut!
