Zero stars!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AND DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE! They do not appreciate your business. The Korean lady is extremely rude!!! She thinks that everyone is trying to steal and she walks behind you as you walk around the store. I dont see how they are still in business!

I just moved to Alexandria from Brooklyn, NY where there’s an abundance of hair products for natural hair and I’ve only searched a bit for products because I already had a supply with me when I moved. Then, disaster struck. I ran out!!! This ratty head of mine was suffering for lack of my new favorite Dark and Lovely LOC products and I refused to just use something that I knew was just okay on my hair.
I almost ordered the products (LOC Dark and Lovely) online last night, but it was gonna take a WEEK for them to arrive. No way was I going another day with my hair looking like this. So, I set out to find them. They had to be SOMEWHERE in all of the DC Metro. I went to KC Beauty and they have NO LOVE for natural hair with the sparse selection of products they had available. I was almost discouraged because they have such good ratings and I wasn’t sure if anybody else would love natural hair as much as many beauty supply shops in Brooklyn and Harlem!
I drove a little further up Richmond Hwy and noticed a small sign for Beauty Island and figured I’d give it a shot. My eyes grew as big as saucers when I found my products!!! There were only a couple available, and I almost bought both, but in the spirit of sisterhood, I figured I’d do somebody else in ny position a favor and I left one. The salesman was really nice and even gave me 10% off and said he’d be sure to reorder! They now have a customer for life!
If you have natural hair, go here and don’t waste your time at KC Beauty Supply!

My experience was much better than the ones listed below. The manager was very helpful and polite. She helped me find the best pack of hair and showed me different closures that would blend well with the hair I picked. She even threw in a few lip gloss.

Dont go to this store. The asian storeowner (guy) or store manager is totally rudeee!!! I guess he doesnt believe in customer service, he wasnt even willing to show the product. Plus the prices are rudiculous, youll find better else where.

Everytime I go here I am yet reminded why I don’t like to shop here… The older lady that works there is extremely RUDE, every single time. This last time I went, I only stopped in because I was right there, and was in a hurry to get home. I picked up hair gel, which all of them that size was sitting at the $ 2.99 price, when I cashed out it said 4.59 I went back to look to see if maybe I had made a mistake, she came over and said THAT“S THE PRICE! I said well it must be in the wrong spot, yelling she said yeah wrong spot wrong spot… so I looked over at the larger one that sat at the $ 4.89 spot (should have been $ 5.99) and I said I imagine those are in the wrong spot too, she said YEAH ALL OF IT WRONG SPOT, ok well if i’m the customer I don’t know if this is the wrong spot, right spot, everything should be sitting in the correct spot, who has time to figure out whether or not somebody did their job and put things where they go. I understand customers may place things in the wrong spot, but EVERYTHING was out of order, seems decitful if you ask me, because the average person, if buying multiple things will not notice they’re paying the wrong price for something, only if you’re buy 1 or 2 things you’ll notice if something rings up incorrectly. Her tone is always RUDE, and YELLING, and she basically calls you a lie when you tell her something… needless to say i’ll continue to shop across the street, where I always end up after my mulitple bad expierences in this establishment

This was a horrible experience. The Manager onsite is horrible and rude. One of the salespeople made a mistake and placed the wrong hair in my bag and I did not notice it until I got home. When I called the Manager was rude from the beginning and lied about the individual leaving and he not knowing anything about it. After about three phone calls the calls ended with him calling me a Bi*^H and using all other obscene language. The prices here are good but the service is horrible and it is topped off with a level of arrongance that makes shopping here a horrible experience. I will definately start shopping elsewhere.
I will follow up and say the sales person that assisted me did eventually call me back and personally apologize for the mistake; however, the lack of the Manager’s integrity overshadowed her follow up.
This is not the first time I have observed this Manager’s attitude and wrath towards customers; however, it is my first and last time experiencing it first hand. The individual claims to be the owner’s nephew and his attitude reflect that of entitlement. He is always short tempered and please don’t ask him any question he will fly off the handle at any moment at anyone.
