Very pleased with my experience with this Doctor. I did wait a short period, but I expect this in any medical office. He was complete and thorough offering his diagnosis and my options. I tried Pain management injection, which helped, but had a adverse blood sugar reaction and his office called me that same day(within 30 mins) to check up and schedule me another appointment to see Dr. Hughes. The staff was courteous and attentive, and Dr. Hughes was very thorough and professional. I’d recommend this practice without hesitation.

I was 18 weeks pregnant when I walked in to Dr. Hughes office with a leg problem. He told me that I have a disk problem and sends me straight to the hospital for surgery the next day. He calls my ob in front of me talking about surgery at a hospital that they don’t work at. 10 hours later after going through the ER. It was not a disk problem at all. I ask for the paper work from his office. In his report he just talked about how I was crying and I needed to pay $ 10 for that 1 page report. Also expect to wait at least an hour for your appointments and the staff are very rude.

I must second the prior comment about Dr. Hughes. I went to see him for the first time on Sept. 2010 at the old Alexandria office and waited 1hr before I was be to see the doc. He was very nice and I liked him a lot and we discussed my options(pain management, medications, surgery etc) I went back a couple more times then in Dec. his staff rescheduled my appointment as he was away that week, then the rescheduled appointment was canceled one day prior because was interfering with their Xmas Holiday so I had to wait 3 more weeks before seeing him again. After one year of physical therapy — shots and etc I decided to go back to him and discuss and schedule the surgery. On Jan 2012 I made an appointment to the new office in Alexandria for a Feb. 16, 2012. Unfortunately that day I arrived 19 minutes late(there was a back up on the road and I parked too far from the entrance — and since it was my first time at this location it took me extra time to find it). Upon my arrival the front desk told me that their policy was 15 minutes grace period, but she was going to ask to his nurse. It looks like that he rents a space at this office so the front desk people don’t work for him directly. The lady at the front desk came back saying that I was too late. and I had to reschedule. Really? So because the front desk doesn’t handle the booking for Dr. Hughes I had to call his office @ Tyson and reschedule. All this because I was 4 minutes after the deadline. In order to schedule him before end of March I had to go to his Tyson’s office. The appointment was for yesterday Feb. 22, @ 2:20. I arrived @ 2:10 and sat and waited… finally I was called at 2:50 and placed in an examination room where I was left alone for another 35 minutes. I finally open the door of the ex. room and stood there without talking. I saw the doc., his nurse and the person who took me in the room talking to each other. After the doctor left his nurse came to me and ask«Can I help you?» me” I would like to know if I am going to see the doctor today. My appointment was 1hour and 15 minutes ago ” She apologized when I told her what happened me the week before for arriving late she immediately stated«I was not there» Me «I was, and the doc or his staff refused to see me because I was late but now it looks like that my time is not as important as his and he can make me wait at his own pleasure. It doesn’t seem fair » So I was left in the room for another 10 minutes. Finally the doc very annoyed came in and the only words out of his month were” It is your prerogative if you wan to leave.” no sorry no apologies. he was actually upset… because I dare to complain to have to wait 1.5 for him. At that point I left… the arrogance of this doc. was incredible. Clearly I cannot take the chance that during a follow up visit after a back surgery I have to wait 1.5 to see him… he may be a good doctor but the basic courtesy is lacking and only thing I see is an arrogant person who feels superior to his patients.

This doctor triple books his appointments, patients have to wait an hour to be seen and shuffled around by staff. He may good once you’ve invested 15 hours in wait time for a diagnosis. If you see him, expect to wait! You could say well he must be good then and that’s why he has so many appointments but then I’ve been rescheduled twice. It’s a horrible way to treat patients SERIOUSLY, it’s not a way to treat patients when we are in pain to begin with!!!
