I swear I can’t make this stuff up. I walk to the counter Her: Hi, would you like a sandwich Me: Yes. Tuna Salad on Wheat Her: Salad? Me: Yes, Tuna Salad *She grabs a bowl* Me: No, I’d like a sandwich, a 6 inch Tuna Salad sandwich Her: You want a sandwich? *Turns to replace bowl* Me: Yes a sandwich. Tuna Salad. Her Do you want a salad or a sandwich? Me: Have you heard of egg salad? Chicken Salad. Well right there is tuna salad. That’s what it’s called. Her: Ok, what size. Me: 6 inch Her: So half. Me: Is the bread 12″ inches? Her: Yes. Me: Ok, so half. If the bread was 10 inches… or even if it was 20 inches… I’d still want 6 inches. Her: *obviously annoyed and says something in Arabic to coworker” Do you want it toasted? Me: No thank you. Her: Lettuce and tomato? Me: Yes please, also cucumber, pickle and black olive. Her: *chuckles and says something again to coworker* We meet at the register. I pay and I say I know pickles and cucumber are pretty much the same, but they are different, also if you think I am difficult, you should see me when I first wake up. In Arabic I tell her thank you and have a good day and watch her face go pale. I get it. In some instances of life you may feel a bit powerless. Hell, that’s why most Unilocalers review places, because they feel it grants them a bit of power. So let’s not get into a power struggle at Subway over a tuna salad sandwich or by assuming someone is ignorant of your language so you feel you can say things to their face without their knowledge. There are a lot of food options around this area, but I prefer coming here because: 1) The food is never below average. It’s subway, but I’ve seen some sloppy«sandwich artists». 2) The staff is friendly and efficient. 3) It’s easy to get in and get out. It’s an above average Subway.

Food ====== $ 5 Sunday Combo, Tuna, Chips & Drink $ 10 Subway Melt w/Cookie & Drink Combo Décor ====== It’s a chain! Think of any Subways you’ve ever been in. Quite a large dining lobby. Air con was broken and it was amazingly hot inside. Service ====== Not my favorite. Put vinegar sauce on it when I said spinach. The tuna wasn’t as smooth, too, like it was lacking mayo. Made eating the whole sandwich a very dry affair. Best Subway service in Alexandria is hands-down Potomac Yards; small, busy, and awesome. Go there instead, seriously.

Just left this location and I definitely do not share the previous Unilocalers enthusiasm about the service. While it is conveniently located, I will definitely choose to give my money to an establishment that believes in customer service. Today, I ordered a custom sub, got to the register and the card machine was broken. Another young lady and I were told to wait while the cashier fixed the problem. We waited for about 7 mins while other customers passed us by. Instead of just giving us the sandwiches for being patient, the cashier told me that there was nothing she could do. I then spoke to the manager who when asked what she planned to with the sub since we could not just take it, she said the employees were going to eat it. The most offensive part of it all is that another woman in line was told to take her cookies and drink without having to pay, since she too had no cash. This happened right in front of me, by the way. Now, please believe me when I say, I’m not one to bitch about a 5 dollar sub but the principle behind it infuriated me. I was a paying, repeat customer. It’s a professional problem that the machines weren’t working, not mine. This is not the first time I have felt disrespected at this establishment but it most certainly will be my last.

This Subway is one of my regular stops because it’s one of the better stores. Staff are super nice and do a good job on sandwich prep. The meats and veggies are kept fresh — except for the onions which for some reason tend to be rancid. I ordered a couple of times and learned to avoid them. Other than that, this place is pretty good. They have the best fountain Diet Coke I’ve found anywhere in the area. They also keep the store clean, which I really appreciate when dining in.

This is my favorite Subway in the area. Everyone who works here is super nice, and I always try to order in Spanish — not because I have to(everyone speaks English), but because it’s cheaper than Rosetta Stone… And tastier.
