Friendly staff, and my food was good, but my dessert portion was ridiculously small. I had the«banana parfait» which was basically fried banana with ice cream. Maybe they gave me the skimpy dessert because the dude paying for it was a jerk to the waitress(idiot)…I refuse to call him my date! Lol.

While the food is amazing the bedside manner of the waitstaff is not. Wednesday of last week, I had taken my mom here for dinner. Entering the restaurant and going up to the host kiosk, there were two employees up there. Neither of them smiled or said hello, just party of two?. We were seated at our table, moments later a young lady approached with water, she poured water in our glasses, we spoke to her and she said nothing. She placed the pitcher back to the designated area and returned to our table and asked if we were ready. Again, no hello, Hi my name is, welcome to, is this your first with us? I quickly shot an annoyed look to my mother across the table and said hello to the waitress snarly and asked her name. She never said it. We ordered and the food came out in about 15 minutes. No one returned to ask us if we needed anything else or wanted something other than water to drink. After we finished eating, I requested two boxes and the check and we paid and left-leaving a very minimum tip. Suggestion to future patrons… Place a delivery or pick up order. Do not eat in the restaurant. I am debating future patronage of this establishment. Nothing worse than piss poor customer service. Yes, I am writing about you ZenZen 21, whatever your name might truly be!

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. Great food, but overpriced. I work close to here and I’d eat there almost every day if they had more reasonabe prices. Entrees are almost all $ 12 and up, so that if you get curry, $ 14, and an appetizer up to $ 10, you’re spending $ 25 on lunch. They have a lunch special that is better, and I’d do that but I can’t stay away from work for more than 5 – 10 minutes at a time, so that’s out. If they let me pick up the lunch special, I’d be there all the time. My favorites are the nam tok — one of my favorites in general, but it’s done quite well here. Nice generous portion comes with the som tom, which justifies it’s high price. Curries are decent, not the very best around but just fine. Tom yum noodle is pretty good. Yen ta fo is good. But I’d recommend taking the prices from $ 14 – 16 down to normal prices for the area, like $ 9 – 12. Look at other area thai places. It’s certainly a disincentive to frequent your place, even though you do a nice job on the cooking side.

My girlfriend and I stopped here for a quick lunch before doing some holiday errands. Service was quick/friendly and the food was delicious! We had the duck roll to start(super tasty) and we each had pad thai(beef and chicken). The food came out piping hot and was really delicious. I know I will definitely be returning! Only downside of this location is the parking– the parking lot is just weird– save yourself time trying to find a spot and park in the(free) garage.

Love the wings(I crave them) and chicken panang. Probably the best panang in the area.

Worst Panang Curry Chicken Ive EVER had!!! The curry was watered down. Tasted like spicy water. Almost no taste of peanuts. I was craving Thai food and this made my craving worse because this dish was disgusting! Really felt like I wasted my money. Would probably never ever go back to try anything else

My ultimate comfort food– THAI I am so glad that this restaurant is so close by my house! I used to always get ‘to-go’ meals from here, then one night I decided to have dinner here. I realized I found a gem. The service here is very warm and welcoming. Everybody that works here seems like family. It was a nice, comfortable and elegant dinner; Good for family, groups, and dates. Bar is a little small, but it seemed great to come here after work as well for a few drinks in front their tv. Will make this place a regular!

It’s so awesome that this wonderful food and experience is so close I can walk here. It’s a great spot that’s usually quiet enough for conversation. Customer service is great and food is usually delish. One of the best things on the menu is their pork belly. YUMMERS!

Sugar Palm is actually very authentic as most of their staff are Thai. Sometimes you think a place is authentic but they end up being Americanized and serving food to fit the taste of Americans, therefore lacking a stronger flavoring. This place surely wasn’t as the food proved later on. I have a few friends who are always craving Thai food so to satisfy their needs I decided that we eat here. Walking in, I was very surprised about how clean and neat the inside was. The walls and decoration really meshed well. The restaurant was clean and not in disarray. They also have a bar as well. We got sat at a pretty large table. Each of us took our time reading the menu. Eventually I ordered fried tofu as an appetizer and then curry as my entrée. Red curry with beef is what I ordered and I was very impressed with the taste. It was very good, rich with the taste of coconut milk and then spicy at the same time. I really enjoyed it. The tofu was very good as well, it came with a sweet chili sauce. I got to taste some of my friends’ food and they ordered pad thai and drunken noodles, which was equally good. The taste was authentic and didn’t taste like they altered it or anything. I also got the Thai tea which was made well, not overwhelmingly sweet or anything. By the end of the meal, I realized that the food was a bit pricey but I didn’t mind. I had a good meal and it was well worth the price. It has a nice atmosphere, felt like a casual or classy environment. Food was great, service was good too. They always refilled my water when I needed. I would definitely come again.

Love the soft shell crab with ginger sauce. It tantalizes the taste buds. I recommend having it with the clear noodles and a cold glass of lemonade. It’s so delicious light meal with sprouts, mushrooms, and green onions. The owner recommended this dish as an entrée and I’m pleasantly surprised. The staff is always light and friendly. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I usually sit at the bar and enjoy the shows big screen TV. I didn’t realize that they also help families celebrate birthdays and special events. If you have not visited or try this restaurant, you give it a try this week and hesitate no more.

Food is good, I come here for lunch all to often. The staff is friendly and they have great lunch specials M-F for $ 9.97 after tax. I usually sit at the bar for quicker service haven’t been here in the evening but there is plenty of seating and it is a spacious environment.

We were passing by the area and spotted this place, I Unilocaled it right quick and decided to give it a try. Glad we did! Great Thai food at reasonable prices. We split Kanom Jeeb and Pad Thai and it was delish! It was the perfect amount for the two of us. We also spilt Mango and Sticky Rice and it was pretty darn good too! If we are in the area again we will definitely stop by for some great food. I noticed they do have lunch specials and free soda with entrée purchase Mon-Fri 11 – 3.

My hubs + I were on our way home trying to figure out where we wanted to eat. He looked to his right + saw this place so I told him he should Unilocal it. 4 stars so we took a right to turn in. The employees are very friendly. We ordered Kanom Jeeb(decent), shared a chicken Pad Thai(really good), and mango w/sticky rice(so delicious, ripest mango!). Unfortunately we don’t live by here, but I’m sure we’ll come back.

My husband and I are huge fans of their Papaya Salad and the Pad See Ew. We tried the Fried Rice and their Drunken Noodles, which were okay… but not good enough to try again. We just stick to the usual Pad See Ew. We’ve never eaten at the restaurant so I can’t speak much about their customer service. We always order take-out and they are really quick with our orders.

I decided to get takeout from here because I was in the area. I got the pad see ew with beef and thai iced tea.(its always my go to meal). The meal from Sugar Palm was a disappointment. The noodles were pan seared but had a burnt flavor and the meal had no flavor. It was pretty flat overall. The thai iced tea was ok. It was pretty small for the price. I would have sent the meal back if I was dining in. Postives — Cute décor and lots of parking.

I have had some delicious Thai food in my life so I’m always very critical of trying new Thai places but this place didn’t let me down! First we started with the fish nuggets that were lightly breaded and served over a salad. The flavoring was savory and they served warm which was a great mix with the chilled salad. The dressing was tangy and sweet. Before I tried them, I asked the waitress for some aoli(because everything fried needs to be dipped in more fat — duh!) but she said they didn’t have any. Although, I swear I read in the menu they had some for another dish. Good thing she didn’t bring any because they ended up being wonderful without it! The chicken with garlic sauce was also amazing and my fiancé got the pad see ew with beef. I tried the noodles and they were so rich with flavor I almost ate all of them right from under him!

Sugar palm? All I know is that I’m gonna need a sugar daddy after eating here. Wallet = drained. Like holy moly, Thai is expensive but c’mon, Sugar Palm. The portions were so obviously skimp AND overpriced. Some restaurants skimp you out but they at least have the common decency to create some kind of clever illusion to make it seem like you aren’t getting skimped out. For example, I ordered the lamb masaman curry for myself which consisted of three small pearl onions, three small potatoes, and 5 or so pieces of leg of lamb(and of course the curry sauce itself). ALMOST $ 20. Like. what(it was decent though). I mean don’t get me wrong, the food is pretty good. The fire cracker calamari was bangin’(but sadly over priced as well.). But I can get my Thai fix that is either just as good or has more favorable choices for me ALL the while not needing a sugar daddy to pay off my bill elsewhere.

I still really like the food, but on a recent visit service was spotty at best. The positive: the food. Tom yum soup had an ample portion of very firm-fleshed shrimp. I ordered pad peh plah — very spicy sauteed fish pieces. The dish earned its 2 chile pepper symbol. Actually too hot for my taste, but I asked for it and got it. The negative: service was off. The waiter left the table before one member of our party of 5 could order a drink, the entrees came out as 3, then one, then after a very long wait the final entrée. We were not serving family style. Coffee was spilled into the saucer, and the check was not divided as we had asked. Group consensus — good food, marginal service. I never know what to do in these instances. I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of our guests and inject an unpleasant note into the evening, and I left a 15% tip which will not signal — you screwed up.

I heard this place opened couple years ago but I never go to this area so I didn’t know it was there. The place is located right next to 395 highway and edsall road exit. I thought it was in Old Town, Alexandria. The place is located in a shopping center, so parking isn’t a problem. The place’s decoration is nice but is a small restaurant. My friend and I came here on wednesday night for dinner and it was a little packed. We started off with calamari, I ordered pad thai chicken and my friend ordered crispy pork. I never seen pad thai comes in a bowl, usually they will come with a plate, but this place is different i guess. I definitely like the calamari a lot. the sauce was definitely different than other places as other always fried them. The pad thai was a little too wet, therefore I didn’t like it at all and it was salty. The flavor wasn’t favorable. I couldn’t eat the whole thing as I kept drinking water. For dessert, we ordered coconut sticky rice mango, but apparently they didn’t have sticky rice that night so they asked if we want anything else, so we decided to try fried bananas with ice cream. Okay, I would definitely recommend this to everyone who always order mango sticky rice like me.
