After calling 2 VW dealers to get pricing on the 40k mile factory recommended service for my Jetta, I checked Unilocal and saw the great ratings Gilbert Motor Service had received. I contacted this business through Unilocal and was told that they do perform factory recommended services (and for a cheaper price than the dealers quoted). I decided to book an appointment and was very satisfied with their work and customer service. They didn’t even charge me for replacing a headlight. The place is super easy to find. I bought a used Chevy Tahoe 2003, and it needed a lot of work done. I needed 4 new tires. The 4-​wheel drive wouldn’t work, plus my windows weren’t working, my power locks were dead, my rear defroster popped off, my oil needed to be changed, the thing squeaked whenever I drove over a dip… the list went on. Again, it’s a used truck and I expected I’d need to make some upgrades. But, I’m not a car guy, and I’m always distrusting of mechanics because I’m afraid they’re going to gouge me because I don’t know anything about cars. I talked to some people, and decided to give them a try. Darren was cool. He called me and told me how much things would cost before he did anything, so I liked that he got my permission to go ahead with stuff. I thought it would take two weeks to do all the repairs and upgrades. Darren called me two days later and told me that my repairs were done. These guys know what they’re doing, and they’re fast. They won me over and this is where I’ll be going for my two cars and one truck.

Gilbert Motors is Awesome! I’ve used them for about 3 years, and have always had great service. The most recent time I brought in my Ford Ranger for a check engine light on my dash. Darren knew exactly what the problem was, he changed a small little sensor, re-​programmed the computer and BINGO… The light was off, and I was on my way. Darren is a very stand up guy, who won’t take advantage of you! I you want great work, but don’t want those dealer prices. Look no further Gilbert Motors is where it’s at!

The latest update, we have a Diesel VW & Volvo SUV. VW: new brakes front/​rear, new A-​Arms, regular oil changes, diagnosed glow plug problem & installed new fuel filter (important on Diesels.) Volvo: new brakes F/​R, rotated tires, new ignition coil & plugs and scheduled oil changes.
They are consistent and always explain the how/​why/​where of each repair.
He’s like family to us and I see that he treats any customer that walks in the same way. Both cars are solid! I’m scoring them as a 11 out of 10.

Darren is the best. He tries to find the best yet cheapest solution to my car problem. He made so many phone calls to find out prices and compared them for me. Great place to come to fix ANYTHING with your car! Definitely coming back here if anything happens to my car.

Gilbert Motors was recently recommended to us by a friend «good work, fair prices & Gilbert a real nice guy». That may have been a jinx. 3 days later fuel pump went out. Decided to give Gilbert Motors a shot. we weren’t disappointed. Great work, fuel pump was replaced and ready same day (under 4 hours) and we were happy with the price. I HIGHLY recommend.

As always, great service! Dropped off my car in the AM, problem diagnosed, alternator replaced and keys back in my hand by approx 5:00 PM.

What can I say… Darren is the simply the best mechanic out there. He is always a perfect gentleman and also an extremely considerate. man. Whenever I take my car in for regular servicing, he calls and tells me what needs to be done immediately and what can wait till the next time. Most shops will do anything and everything and then hand you the bill.

Gilbert Motor Service is incredible and the best in the business. It’s incredibly rare to find a mechanic who will tell you exactly what’s wrong because they can convince anyone that a number of things are wrong with the car (even when they’re not). But they never did that here.
They easily spotted what the overheating issue was to my 2006 Sebring and was done the next day (after getting parts).
I paid cash since the repair was under $ 500 and I am incredibly satisfied. I will be going back for all future repairs and tune-​ups for my vehicle.

A true find.

Needed VW Beetle battery replaced, which is nearly impossible to remove! Battery was beyond dead. Called this shop because of the proximity to my home & the good reviews. Not only did Darren find me a tow truck, but ordered the battery & replaced it. Shop was very clean. Car was ready when he said & final price was just as quoted. Price was affordable. Recommended a couple of things, which I knew I might need, but did not try to sell me anything or push any services. Will definitely be back to try an oil change & brakes!

Long story short, some punk knocked my side view mirror off while it was parked on Valley. Probably my fault for thinking that parking on the street would be a good idea in the 626/​SGV area…
Anyway, I found this shop near my apartment and called up Darren. He was able to get the exact replacement part I needed in about a day and installed it in seconds charging me pretty much at cost. A good experience here, I’d definitely return!

so here I am with some bonding trying to save money patching up a leaking radiator till I had time to price shop.
I called around and even went in to Pep Boys for a quote. I had already called over at Gilbert’s and had been given a rough estimate. (What I have to say about their estimates is that they are pretty spot on with no shocks when you get the bill).
Pep boys wanted to charge me almost twice as much. I showed them the quote I had been given by Gilbert motor service. At that point they dropped the price and matched it… Even the 5% lower price they offered did not convince me to take it to Pep boys.
Gilberts is a mom & pop mechanic, honest as the day is long and more than competitively priced. I could’ve saved myself the bother of calling round for quotes because in the end, they were the best price & best service. They work fast and they give a damn.
The job was done in half the time expected and the price was what I was quoted. I even got a free oil change… Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Pep Boys
