Really good food at small but decent portions(they say on their website that smaller portion size=less waste + smaller waist + a bigger wallet). Their desserts are fantastic(I highly recommend the bites).

This small café in the library serves up one of the best options for light and healthy lunch in Arlington. In addition to salads, they offer meaty sandwiches, warm and hearty soups and some of the best bakery items around. Great option for a quick meal while in downtown Allen or a snack while spending time at the library.

I am literally sitting here eating my lunch as I write this review, and it’s amazing! I ordered a garden variety salad with turkey and hard boiled egg, and it came with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, pecans, craisins, banana peppers, and feta cheese(all optional since they make it to order). They have a great selection of dressings, I kept it simple with a balsamic. Very friendly staff, and my food was prepared very quickly. My salad was $ 6, which is a steal for the content. If you are in Allen and are looking for an alternative to everything else you’ve tried, come here. Salads, sandwiches, soups, and hot items(today’s was a chicken pot pie). They also have a case of yummy looking baked goods and a full coffee bar of you’re looking for something on the sweet side.

I’m a frequent customer at Food for Thought and there are many reasons. First, the food is all homemade, excellent and reasonably priced. Second, the café is privately owned and run by an outstanding family. Be sure to take home a chicken pot pie(serves four) on Wednesdays — the best I’ve ever had and my mom’s was very good.

Fantastic, fresh and healthy food! Family owned with a great, helpful staff! It’s located in the atrium of the Allen Public Library, so there’s free wifi and you don’t have to be quiet ;)

Everything I’ve had this café has been excellent! I believe it’s owned and operated by two sisters, and everything is home made/home-cooked /from scratch/fresh. A personal fave is the Chicken Pot Pie!!! When I can, I take an entire pan home for dinner on Wednesdays Absolute love in an aluminum pan lol

Another excellent meal at this little café this time I brought friends, everyone perused the excellent selection of paperbacks and magazines for sale to support friends of the library. We had the antipasto salad featuring; salami, provolone, Kalamata olives big chunks of artichoke hearts and optional hot peppers or croutons. One friend had a lovely ham and cheddar on ciabatta roll. The brownies and oatmeal cookies were selfish! We shared items and 4 of us ate for 22 dollars. Spectacular job, ladies!

Delicious food & drinks, very cheerful, kind staff! The wait is a little longer because it’s made-to-order and family run, but oh so worth it! You can bring your drink into the library itself, but the food needs to stay in the seating area:)
