Smith Dental – Aloha

This is a follow up to my previous review. Given the lack of follow through with Smith Dental, I went to Hillsboro Modern Dentistry because the dentist at Smith Dental told me that I had 6 cavities. The dentist at Hillsboro Modern Dentistry even got a second dentist to review my xrays, because he could not see any cavities. Turns out that I do not have any cavities.
I can’t believe that they were just going to drill six random holes in my teeth. That is, had I hunted them down long enough to get them to provide me with any sort of treatment option and pricing.
Stay away from Smith Dental!

I really wanted to like this dentist. The reviews for the Hillsboro location were great so I decided to go ahead and get my cavity filled with them at the Aloha location which was new and closer to my home.
First thing, my x-​rays were 4 months old, and they didn’t offer or say I should take new ones. My tooth hurt a reasonable amount, and I was told at the time of the x-​ray that it may need a root canal, so fast forward to August I figured that they might want to consider a root canal, and I even mentioned that before the cavity was filled — but they didn’t.
The cavity filling itself was quick and almost painless. I opted for the gas because I’m a big wimp, so the total visit with insurance was about $ 175. I was told I would have sensitivity for a little while after, but it should go away.
6 weeks later my tooth still hurts, and new dilemma, I’m pregnant, which makes getting dental work done difficult. I go in for an examination and surprise surprise, I NEED A ROOT CANAL. And its now going to cost me $ 600, but probably more than that with laughing gas for my wimpy self.
I feel so let down by this experience. With old x-​rays and a warning from me that the previous dentist told me I would need a root canal most likely, why wouldn’t they look into that more?
Now I’m stuck pregnant, with one whole side of my mouth I can’t eat hot or cold on, and a $ 600 impending root canal that I shouldn’t have to pay for completely because they are the ones that messed up.
