I tried the nachos yesterday at Food Truck Friday. They were so good! I plan on trying the fish tacos next time around. Everyone on the truck was nice & friendly & I received my order rather quickly even though the line was down the street. Love It… can’t wait to take my family when they come for a visit.

The food is great. The sweet potatoes alone are just the best. The only reason they don’t get a 5 star is because I went on a Friday. The place was packed. They had ran out of a lot of the food. Good sign, but on a Friday they should know better and have enough. Also they were understaffed. Having said that, the two poor souls trying to manage the rush were very pleasant and worked as fast as they could. The food was worth the wait.

Yum! You have to experience the Mac & Cheese. I heard it was the best in the city and outside of the cooking of certain relatives, I think that is correct. The dish is creamy, rich and it bites you back just a little. That’s an admirable trait in my book. Glad they found our home town’s Food Truck Alley worthy of their time!

The nastiest tacos I’ve ever had. Ordered steak, pulled pork and kielbasa. Pork and steak where completely vile. The meat was mush. The kielbasa was nothing special. No good at all.

I am pregnant and I was hungry, my typical go to when I’m unsure of what to eat is Scoutmob. I live near the food truck but never tried them. So here I am in Alpharetta with an appetite. It was challenging to find the location(turn before the McDonald’s it’s on the right in the cut). I tried the sweet potato fries which were well seasoned and not excessively salty. I can’t put my finger on the seasoning mixture but it is reminiscent of Olé bay. It was very good with the aioli that I requested. I also had the mac and cheese which was also pretty good! The description states it’s made with seedless jalapeño and honestly, I missed the seeds. I would prefer it to have some heat. Overall from the few items I ate, I was pleased. I also suggest eating these items together. The seasoning of the fries goes well with the mac and cheese.

I went to this place randomly, thanks to Unilocal. Service — 3: It was decent Food — 4: That bowl was delightful and their sweet potato fries are quite delish Loation — 3: Gives the hole in the wall vibe and has very limited seating. However, most patrons seemed to opt for the take out option Tip — They operate a truck and you can check their website for the mobile location

I got the blackened fish tacos and mac and cheese… The food is good but it wasn’t anything special. Tacos were flavored good but I personally thought the portion was too small to be. It was just ok.

[TL;DR] Like a food truck experience with a pane glass shield? You’ve come to the right place. I quite literally thought when I was coming here that I would be dining at a restaurant which was inspired from the Blaxican food truck. Nope. It’s pretty much a food truck crammed into a strip mall. Basically, there are about 8 chairs to sit down and eat. Everything you get is in the same little red baskets, plasticware, and napkins that you would get if you were dining in front of a food truck. That’s not to say it’s bad. It’s just something you should expect. I’m guessing most of the place is reserved for food storage and prep for their truck runs. The guys manning the shop were super friendly, by the way. Awesome crew. The food itself was pretty good. My taco shells were a bit greasier than I prefer but nothing I didn’t finish off. :-) The nachos were also pretty good, but definitely on the smallish side. Would love to see this place provide some decent seating and menu prices commensurate with the offering. If you’re going to go hole-in-the-wall, price it out like one. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Not edible. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

A significant number of the Unilocal reviews for Blaxican say: «So I would suggest takeout» «I wouldn’t dine in due to the lack of seating and inviting feel. This is definitely a take out only place.» «it’s nigh empty midday during lunch.» «pick it up and take it home» What nobody has yet mentioned is: «Blaxican will not take an order phoned-in for pick-up…» Nor does their website function to allow orders to be placed. This makes no sense if it really is «a takeout place.» One recent day I wanted to order ahead after reading the menu from their website. But upon phoning, I was told«we haven’t taken phone orders in over two months». I might try their food some time, when I have time to wait around for it. But there is a component of service missing here.

What a find… and very near the house! Been there a couple times now… love it! Here is my run down of their food… (1) Sweet Potato Fries… just do it… period…end of story. best ever! (2) Fish Taco — good fish flavor with a bit of heat…4 stars (3) Smoked Sausage Taco — great sausage flavor, more heat… really good…5 stars (4) Buffalo Chicken Taco — good heat, typical buffalo chicken flavor…3 stars (5) Steak Taco — meh flavor… probably the most disappointing taco…3 stars (6) Pork Taco — outstanding… great flavor, not too much heat…5 stars (7) «Special» Taco — Turkey Burger Taco — outstanding…5 stars This not really a go out to eat place… although they have 3 small tables… it is like their food truck… go pick it up and take it home… so, ambiance is nothing at all… Service is good… but…again…like a food truck!

Okay, Now the name itself made me say huh? Wth. Still I couldn’t pass up this place, so I finally put a little blaxican in my belly. Boy was it good. I had 3 different tacos and the famous Collard Green Quesadilla. Whatever they make the sauce with that’s served with the quesadilla is like adding gravy to turkey, it makes the flavor pop all over your taste buds. My favorite taco was the sausage taco, it had a barbeque taste that had me licking my lips. The tacos and quesadilla was a bit small for the price. Trying something new that was actually delicious makes the price no biggie. I love the look of the food /ordering counter. The menu is pretty simple. I really enjoyed blaxican. Its funny because me coming from San Diego CA, that’s what I use to consider myself.(Big lover of Mexican cuisine)

I had food from the blaxican food truck several months ago, and holt crap that mac’n’cheese…it was so good! Creamy white cheddar and flecks of spicy, fresh jalapeño… yuuum! I made lunch plans with a friend, and for weeks I have been talking about this mac’n’cheese. I was so excited! But the mac’n’cheese I was served today? No. It was not the same, at all. It was dry and looked curdled… it was crumbly and was lacking in flavor. I didn’t finish it. Mac’n’cheese it’s my favorite, and this was just not good at all. The pork tacos were pretty good. The pork was cooked well and the bbq sauce was delicious! The pineapple pico de gallo was just canned tidbits with maybe some onion? Idk, but I did like the tortillas. There was only one girl working, she was busy preparing orders and didn’t realize we were waiting. They didn’t have cups for tap water, and she didn’t know how to split an order half cash/card. The inside only has 3 tables, and I believe 10 or 12 chairs. It’s tiny! Spent a little over $ 17 for a water, orange soda, 3 bbq pork tacos and mac’n’cheese…its don’t know why the drinks were so expensive :/ I had really high hopes– I just had this really great memory from the food truck. I’m bummed. I really wanted it to be so much better.

The business name alone grabbed my attention, but the owners name will also have you doing a doubt take. His name: Will Turner, the same as the character in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean played by Orlando Bloom. I mean come on! There is just too much coolness going on here to ignore!!! THESCENE Every week my eldest son and I have a father son lunch date! It’s something we decided to begin doing just a month ago when he moved closer to home. We were actually planning on going someplace else, but changes courses while driving. I just recently discovered Blaxican through a new Unilocal friends review and began telling my son about it as a possible date spot for next week. Needless to say his interest was peaked and next week turned into today. After all, as much as we both love Mexican food, we feel like we’re part Blaxican anyway! Can’t get to the Blaxican truck? Awww, sucks for you. Unless, of course, you live in Roswell /Alpharetta in the Holcomb Bridge Road area. In which case, you’re in for some awesome food. 1st star — Convenient and yet secluded location Dead shopping centers abound in the Atlanta ‘burbs, and while Blaxican’s home base shopping center is remodeled and doing nicely, I think it helps that folks only really think of it as the one with the movie theater in it. Located in one of the side buildings near Studio Movie Grill on Holcomb Bridge Road, Blaxican is right next to yet-another-package-store. A few tables outside hint that it’s a restaurant, but this is really a take-out location. Don’t expect table cloths and fine dining. The winning feature here? It’s really easy to get to. Traffic in this shopping center is pretty nil, and it’s nigh empty midday during lunch. 2nd star — Customer service I visited Blaxican FOURTIMES after I found out it was open near me – all in one week. I had it for lunch and dinner. Sometimes there was a short line of people. Sometimes not. Not once did I have bad customer service. In fact, the folks behind the counter were EAGER to make my food and ensure that I was happy with my experience. I’ve visited their food truck too, and the mobile experience was the same. I got a sense they took pride in their food and were happy to share it with you. 3rd star — Slap yo momma fish tacos and BBQ sweet potato fries In two(2) weeks, I’ve had Blaxican in some form or fashion about 5 times. At least once from the food truck. The experience has been consistent the entire time. Here’s what I’ve discovered… 1. Blackened fish tacos — THEBESTTHINGONTHEMENU! Great portions, great flavor. 2. BBQ steak tacos — A little dry; not as much flavor as I’d hoped. 3. Smoked sausage tacos — Second best taco on the menu, though could use more spice. 4. Chicken tacos — Very different from the other 3 tacos; didn’t like the amount of «Texas Pete”-like sauce on these; would not get them again. 5. Jalapeño mac’n’cheese — Good stuff; basically homestyle mac’n’cheese with some jalapeño flavor /bits to it; not spicy at all. 6. Philly steak and cheese nachos — Lots of potential here, except for the dry BBQ steak used as the primary flavor; could be really awesome. 7. BBQ sweet potato fries — ZOMG delicious! Continue reading… Bar none, the best side on the menu — the BBQ sweet potato fries. Covered in BBQ spiced rub and fried to perfection, these are some terribly awful amazing french fries. You’ll eat the whole portion yourself, and then you’ll feel fat yet satisfied. 4th star — Value for your money Three(3) tacos for $ 8 or $ 9 sounds pricey, yeah? Oh right — you get Mexican at Taco Bell. Shut up. Blaxican taco size is on par with the tacos at Bone Garden. No wimpy tacos here, AND you get your choice of flour(default) or corn tacos. An order for two(2) w/one appetizer will cost about $ 25, and it’s well worth the money. Portions on the apps are just as good as the tacos. You will not walk away asking yourself, «Man — did I just blow $ 9 on those tiny tacos? WTF!» Reserved 5th star — For future visits /experiences I’m ecstatic that Blaxican is in my suburban ‘hood. It’s great food made by happy people, and I really want them to succeed. Best part is – Roswell, Alpharetta and Johns Creek can make that happen — and they don’t have to wait on a truck. Go get some Blaxican today!

The Blaxican has been close to the top of my must try list for quite some time. I would see it pop up from many of my friends under their check-ins. What could be better than a soul food and Mexican food mash-up? The Blaxican is located to the right side of the inside of the Studio Movie Grill Plaza off of Holcomb Bridge Rd in Alpharetta. It is easily noticeable as it has a very colorful red and black Blaxican sign on the front. When you walk inside you will see a painting that will make you feel like you are being served at the food truck. It is an interesting but pleasant touch. There are about eight to ten seats so I wouldn’t recommend bringing a large party unless you are taking to go. The menu is very quaint but efficient in the fact that is does a great job of effectively getting the whole shtick of fusing Mexican and soul food. They also allow you to mix and match for the most part without there being a modification in the price which is pretty awesome. I decided to mix and match three tacos, a BBQ steak taco, smoked sausage taco, and a buffalo chicken taco. The BBQ steak was so tender and the sauce was some of the best I have ever had. The smoked sausage taco also was very flavorful and the cole slaw was a great topping. The Buffalo chicken was so moist and tasty. I love Bleu cheese and the fact that it is topped with that was a huge plus. Great location, good food and an interesting setup make this restaurant/food truck a must have bookmark for me.

The Blaxican. I’ve heard some great things about this place. So. decided to come for lunch Saturday afternoon. I got 3 tacos. The chicken, steak and pork; along with a collard green quesadilla. I liked the pork taco the best of the three but out of everything I ordered the quesadilla tasted the best. The sauce it comes with sets it off more and makes it go from an 8 out of 10 to a perfect 10! Simply delicous!!! My boyfriend got 3 tacos as well and for all of that and a coke we spent about $ 25. Before we ordered the lady behind the counter gave us a sample of their jalapeño mac & cheese and some sausage. Needless to say, after tasting it I thought it was okay but I didn’t get either. I was very satisfied and the quesadilla was enough for me in itself. Next time, I’ll probably just get that or the tacos, but I will be back. I would’ve given this cool, little spot a 4 but I didn’t see a restroom and I don’t believe there was one. so beware! No bathroom! *sigh*

LOCATION This place is located inside of the Holcomb Center Plaza. This is the same plaza that also houses Studio Movie Grill, Café Istanbul 3, Just Fitness 4U, as well as Cloud 9 Hookah Lounge & Café. Also, this wonderful little gem is a little hidden and is also tucked away behind of McDonalds. They are also on the righthand side of and next to Brother’s Package Store. MYOWNEXPERIENCE I first took notice of this fine place by driving by it approximately three days before their grand opening. This was the very first time that I have ever heard of The Blaxican Mexican Soul Food. A couple of business days later, I read their banner sign that read«Yes, we’re opened!» As I walked inside, I was greeted with a friendly«hello». There are a few black tables with stools on the inside. The right wall has a television and some framed pictures, articles, etc… about the place and the left wall just has their menu on it. Their main wall has a wonderful artwork replica of their own actual food truck with one area for pick up and one area for placing your order. I have ordered their Philly Nachos, their Mexy Mac n Cheese, their Collared Green Quesadilla, and a mix of their one blackened fish taco, one buffalo chicken taco, and their one BBQ steak taco. Their meats are absolutely tender, juicy, moist, and absolutely full of flavor. The lettuce and the tomato that they use for their tacos as well as their nachos is fresh. Their tacos are really delicious and has a very fresh taste to them. It does cost about $ 7-$ 8 for a set of three tacos. Although, personally I think that the taco prices are just a little bit on the high end. But, it is not bad at all. Their Philly Nachos($ 7) are also really good and delicious as well. I do like and appreciate the fact that they do not put and use any Jalapeño Peppers on any of the tacos and nachos that I order from them. Also, their collared green quesadilla is delicious as well and comes with two of them. It truly does have a nice grilled flavor to it as well. They are truly nice and aof decent size. They are also served cut up into pieces as well. The collared greens have a nice dark rich green color to them and definitely has a fresh taste to them as well. Also, the Jack cheese that they used, was really delicious as well. They serve two, which is pretty satisfying. Overall, my experience here is and always has been excellent. Every single time that I come here, the staff is always professional and always provides excellent and friendly service. There are still items on their own menu that I have yet to try, but do plan on trying, such as their bowl and their Tortas being just a couple of them. This place is excellent and I am definitely a fan. This place gets a 4.5 stars from me for excellent service and awesome food. I have taken off half a star from my own rating for the pricing of the food.

If you have a travel policy of trying something you can’t get back home, this place needs to be on your list of places to eat whenever you find yourself in the greater Atlanta metro. Fusion food at its best(and usually fusion food never really has a best). It is Mexican food combined with good old Southern comfort food. Can’t go wrong with either one. How can you go wrong when you combine them together? Great question. You can’t. I had the collard greens quesadilla. While I love all veggies and especially kale(which is in the same family as collard greens), I am not a huge fan of collard greens. This place did it well. Tender yet firm collard greens. Well seasoned. Lightly cheesed.(Not a big fan of cheese ironically.) Only downside is their menu said it came with turkey but I didn’t see any in my order. The blackened fish tacos are pretty amazing. Huge portions. Definitely can be an entrée or an app for a few. Other than the lack of turkey, this is a nice little dive place to get good, cheap food. What more can one ask for when traveling?

I went with group of 15 people. My friend, who had their food at the food truck recommended this place. It’s located in the same shopping center as Studio Movie Grill. Therefore, on a Friday night, parking was impossible! We circled and circled for about an half hour till we finally parked. There is a valet but they charge $ 10. Valet was going to cut some slack and charge $ 5. Still, that’s bit too much and I feel that in a parking lot that big, no need to pay. I finally made it to the restaurant. It’s at the end of corner, it’s pretty small. They got 3 small tables that can seat like 10ppl or so? Good thing my friends got a table already, even though some of us had to stand and eat. There were only 2 ppl working so the food came out really slow. My friends ordered the famous Mac and cheese. We took their last order, it was sold out. I normally do not like Mac and cheese but this one was better. Wasn’t super great but good. I ordered philly nachos. It had lettuce, jalapeños, cubed steak pieces, melted cheese, and sour cream. I loved it. It was flavorful and tasty. My friend ordered smoked sausage tacos. I loved it too. Their sausage was delicious. Three small tacos per order. For drinks, they have jar titis, sodas, and coke from Mexico. Supposedly, coke from Mexico taste lot better than coke from here because instead of sugar they use sugarcane. Overall, there were pros and cons. At the end, I had a great time so I’m overlooking all that. Besides, ladies that worked there were friendly and cool. 4 stars it is!
