Perfect restaurant for anyone who haven’t eaten for 4 days. Quantity awesome. Quality and Taste is completely diagonal to Quantity. Still ok if you are desperate. But as you are in Alpharetta, you have far better places.

Excellent authentic Indian food. Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, there’s plenty available for everyone. We went for the lunch buffet. The price was unbelievable! So much food, clean and large interior. If you know Indian food, you will love it. If you want to try it for the first time, go here. You won’t be disappointed.

Good food, really nice dosa. The idli was not the best but great fiery chettinad chutney Overall, very satisfied. Recommend the South Indian dishes here

Best Indian Food joint in all of Georgia(except for maybe Zyka)! I live right by this restaurant, which is conveniently located on the Old Milton Plaza next to Publix. I cannot write enough about this place. The first thing that anyone notices is how packed this place is, simply because it’s too good! For their lunch buffets, many times there will be lines outside as people wait to get in. The pricing is also very cheap, and it hosts a wide variety of selections. Favorites are the chicken biryani and saag paneer. Make sure to drop by for its lunch buffets!

The Indian lunch buffet is pretty good deal here if you can venture this far out of Atlanta. It gets quite busy here during weekend lunch hours. The things that stood out: mango fish curry, bread-sweetmilk, fried eggplant, papadam, spicy mutton, mango/pineapple dessert, chicken khorma the bad: fried doughnut soaked in syrup was too sweet; chicken wings tasted very American style, mocha mousse cake was too sweet. The masala chai drink was good after sugar was added to it. The price per person + tax came out to be about $ 16. We would definitely come here again if we’re in the area.

I’m not much of a buffet person but this place I love. My hunny always gors for the tandoori chicken and I will devour anything meat and cheese free. Most of the items change when we go but I’m satisfied each time. And you can’t beat a $ 10 lunch buffet

I came here yesterday for the lunch buffet. There was a huge line. It was super busy. My group of 12 finally got a table after about 40 minutes wait. The atmosphere is decent; not beautiful but not ugly… Just acceptable. It’s very big place. Plenty of parking. There is a wide variety of items to choose. They have different kinds of chicken curries, goat, vegetables, paneer, etc. They also have a variety of desserts like dahi vada, kheer, gulab jamun, fruit custard. The quality of the food is pretty good compared to other Indian buffets. People are getting plate after plate. I liked their chicken 65(with bowl of tamarind sauce on the side for dipping– the dark brown sauce you can find on dessert bar) and their wings. Overall I rate it 4⁄5.

I love this place! so why the 3 stars and not 5? Service service service. Horrible. Even though you will so many of them milling. Try calling one. For example, at the end of dinner I wanted chai. I told one, he dissapeared. I told one of the ladies, she went to the person I had already said to who then send someone else to our table to take our order. Who then dissapeared and the original gave us our bill. We looked at eachother and my husband asked so I guess we wont be getting any chai? He said no they didnt have any. Seriously? a desi restaurant with no chai is seriously lacking for me. This wouldnt have happened in NY, I grumbled to my husband. The food is seriously good. We were starving and got a bit too much… We got the vada/idli, masala dosa, chaat, grilled fish, Kozhi varutha with uthappam. The kozhi varutha was pretty spicy but so so good with the uthappam. All of the dishes were awesome and we packed most of it and enjoyed it the next day. They really need to have a better chain of management. Right now they just seem confused and the process is just too time consuming when ordering.

Good Indian buffet. I prefer quality over quantity, so I’m always leery of buffets. But, I have to say Madras Chettinaad is one of the better Indian restaurants I’ve been to, buffet or not. Everything was quite flavorful and well cooked. I didn’t find anything unenjoyable. Particular highlights were the chicken curry and mutton curry. It’s a buffet, so there’s not much in the way of service. Used dishes were cleared quickly. Not much to say. Overall, I was satisfied.

We eat here all the time(at least once a month). Quality of the food is very good. Lunch buffet has extensive selection. Dinner menu has a decent selection also. Service is generally nice but on some weekends it gets quite busy and quality of the service suffers as a result of this. But overall great restaurant if you like to try Indian food.

Madras Chettinaad is my favorite of the 4 Indian buffets that I’ve eaten at in the Atlanta area. It seems that a lot of people love Madras because it’s been packed at lunchtime both times I’ve gone there. And, this restaurant isn’t small. Your buffet tables are in the back and there are a lot of tables in the front. The dining area isn’t cramped. There’s plenty of space between tables and the booths are quite comfortable. The variety you get at Madras is impressive. First off, there are 4 buffet stations. One station is completely dedicated to vegetarian dishes. Another station is completely dedicated to meat dishes. The third station has rice and assorted appetizers. The fourth station has your chutneys along with a few other assorted items. I should note that when I said I’ve been here twice, it was two times in three days. Very surprisingly, the food was not identical the second time I was there. On the first day, I had delicious curry fish, goat curry, Manchurian mushrooms, chicken 65, chicken biryani, and Tandoori chicken. On the second day, I had a samosa, vegetable noodles, Manchurian corn, and Madras chicken curry. There was some overlap, but enough difference that it was enjoyable for twice within a week. You’ll have a few options for dessert. The difference between a weekday lunch buffet and a weekend lunch buffet is only a couple of dollars.

Even after at least three visits, Madras Chettinaad has proven to be a confounding restaurant to review. The dining space is huge. The lunch buffet is extensive. The food is remarkably inconsistent — with one item being delicious, another being overcooked/dried out, and yet another being bland and watered down. Even during the non-buffet dinner service their food is unpredictable. Will my chicken tikka masala be rich, creamy, spicy, and loaded with flavor or will it be watery and bland? I still can’t fully wrap my head around it…

You can find Madras Chettinaad at 4305 State Bridge Rd #108, Alpharetta, GA30022 in the Alpharetta Common Shopping Center anchored by Publix. Traveling East from 400 on Old Milton Pkwy, you’ll find this shopping center right at the State Bridge split, where Kimble Bridge, State Bridge and Old Milton come together. This is an expansive space with tons of seating and a very large buffet — perhaps the largest Indian buffet in Atlanta. I’ve eaten at Madras for many years — this is a favorite among the Indian staffers I’ve worked with and a worthy replacement of my previous favorite for this area, Minerva(which was nearby and now closed). Chettinaad has two very long tables of food and features a spice-level you’ll more commonly find near the Patel Brothers in Decatur. I’ve had many good meals here and there’s so much variety that you can certainly mix things up so you get a different combination of foods each time. Most recently I met a group for a weekend lunch — the place was hopping with all tables filled — fortunately we called ahead and only waited a few minutes. I focused on the Masala Dosa(curried potato stuffed crêpe) with Sambar and chutneys, plus a few fried items which are very popular. I next hit the hot items and chickens in various curries. Typically I’d go for the veggies dishes then transition to the meats — Chettinaad separates the veg from non-veg which seems to be common practice and really makes sense if you think about who is eating. Service can be a bit spotty but in general the staff kept our water glasses full. There’s plentiful parking in the lot with overflow towards the Publix side. (also posted to my food blog)

Madras is the go to lunch spot for Indian food in Alpharetta. This place gets packed at lunch time, so be sure to leave a bit early if you want to get a seat. The lunch buffet is what they are mostly known for. For just around $ 10 – 12 you can get an all you can eat special. The food here is everything you would expect from traditional Indian food as well as some fusion options too. There are various kinds of rice, bread, curries and also many vegetarian options for those who prefer it. If you like Indian food and have an appetite, definitely check out Madras as its one of the most popular lunch destinations in the area. My Recommendations: –Lunch Buffet Menu: (lunch) (dinner)

tl;dr: Good for south indian food. Very bad for north indian food. We were a group of four. We had a wide variety of their menu. — The Kozhi Varutha Curry is excellent. It is a must have. It is the right amount of spice and flavor. — The rava dosa is well made and tastes correct. — The fish chettinaad was okay. — The paneer chettinaad is a disappointment. — The ajwain parantha was sad too. — The coffee is terrible. It is over watery and blah. — As are the gulab jamuns which feel like they are store bought ones. The service was haphazard though the food did come quickly. Overall, if you are coming here, order dosas and you are safe. Everything else is a risk.

Madras Chettinaad definitely offers the most selection of any Indian lunch buffet I’ve been to. The lunch buffet is an amazing deal at about $ 10 pp. However, this is a primarily South Indian buffet, so the flavor profile id different from North Indian foods, which is arguably, little more popular. They did not have palak paneer or saag paneer on their buffet, which made me bummed, but then again, they offered the most meat selection of any buffet I’ve been to: chicken vindaloo, massala, tandori, among other things. They had a decent amount of dessert selection: gulab jamun, mango yogurt, rice yogurt, among other things. Of course, there was a copious amount of carbs; naan here, naan there, naan everywhere! The interior of the place is pretty sweet, modern, and spacious. There have plenty of attentive servers. You pay at the front when you leave. Fin.

I came for the lunch buffet, but just fyi, for dinner, entrees range from $ 8 — $ 14. They are a South Indian restaurant with both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. The décor is nicer than a lot of Indian spots I’ve been to. Granite tabletops on most of the tables. Clean dining area and bathrooms. They had a nice variety of dishes for the lunch buffet, including the following of which I got a taste: chicken biryani, tikka masala, some crunchy baby corn dish, green beans, regular naan, and some paneer curry dish. Everything was pretty tasty. The only thing– the naan wasn’t fresh so it was kind of hard and tough… Boo. They also have a creamy mango pudding-like dessert that was yummy. Lunch buffet came out to $ 10 with tax. $ 12 with tip. It was so good! But I definitely over-ate… As per usual.

THE. BEST. INDIAN. RESTAURANT. I’m definitely one of Indian cuisine’s biggest fans and am always interested in its dining adventures. Madras Chettinad has turned my conception of Indian dining in America on its head. The restaurant operators showcase a new, elegant approach to Indian dining — really setting the bar higher for their corner-cutting counterparts. Upon entrance, a quaint yet freshly furnished waiting area awaits. A host’s podium sits in front of a marvelous corner bar with a smiling greeter swiftly seating guests. The interior décor is mind-boggling! Vivid, bright red velvet booths snake around the room. Large ceramic/clay pots collaborate with Madras wall paintings to teleport diners to an upscale Chennai 5-star hotel restaurant. Granite counter tops assure invited guests of the establishment’s fresh, new, renovated experience. The scene is warm, suburban, and family dominated with a comfortably spacious elegant dining room. Aside from the spectacular décor, something is to be said about the exceptional service. The waiters here employ a visibly special effort to make guests feel welcome and taken care of here. The manager noticed we had been waiting a few minutes after being seated and rushingly assured us we would be seen shortly. He later approached our table and entertained the kids while checking up on us. Props! On to the best part — THEFOOD. The menu is diverse and includes classic South Indian/Vegetarian delights(Dosas, chaats, bhel puri, etc.) as well as staple non-veg items(chicken tikka masala, vindaloo, kormas, etc.) The chefs here offer a bold, creative slew of unique dishes in addition to the typical ones often encountered. We ventured for the Palak Paneer Dosa and the Madras Masala Dosa and were blown away by the quality, presentation, and price of both. The chicken tikka masala and chicken pepper fry both hit the spot and really stood out from previous encounters at other restaurants. Kudos to the chefs. Thanks to Madras Chettinad for opening our eyes to a higher form of dining — we will be back here to try the biryani and vegetarian Bollywood curry next time!
