If I am ever on death row and they ask me what I want for my last meal, it will be the lemon drop cupcake from Small Cakes. It is so moist and sweet without being that cheap sweet you get from some places that want to cover up cheap ingredients with overwhelming sugar. I know cupcakes in that my old office was in Bethesda and I had to walk by Georgetown Cupcakes to get work every day. These sweeties kick Georgetown’s butt. OK I’m going to stop cause you would think I own the place or something.

I had SmallCakes do the cake and about 350 mini cupcakes for my wedding in December 2015, and they did an AMAZING job. I came in for a tasting and Marie had all of the flavors I requested available for a taste and several more for us to take home and share with family and friends! Not only that, but there was some other flavors I was interested in and she arranged a time for me to come back and taste those. She also had a tiered cake made to be used for the«cut the cake» wedding tradition. SmallCakes came to the wedding venue to set up the cakes for us, and left us with boxes to take home any extras after the wedding(not that the guests left many!!) We had so many guests rave to us about how good and pretty the cupcakes were. I would recommend SmallCakes of Alpharetta to anyone for anything from catering a huge event to an afternoon snack!

Discovered next door to my favorite white pizza place, these cupcakes were so light and fluffy. Best cupcakes I think I’ve ever had. We got a mini half dozen because there were too many too choose from! They were all delicious!

The MILKSHAKES are SINFUL!!! They are the only Smallcakes around that offer the milkshake with a cupcake blended in. OMGEEEEZ! Yeesssss! I also like the availability of mini-cakes. There’s always a great selection of flavors and the cakes are fresh. The owners are also nice, conversational folks. Makes it nice to do business with them.

After having read the positive reviews on Unilocal,I was excited to find it is located so close to home. When I entered, it was not a «happy» feeling. Rather, a young fragile girl at the front counter was taking orders from a man who appeared to be her boss. He was sitting in a chair behind her. I explained it was my first time there and asked for recommendations. After telling me what she liked, which was not what I wanted to know, I deferred to the Unilocal recommendations. I ordered their«famous» Red Velvet Cupcake and told her I was still deciding on another. She stated she had to check to see whether they had any Red Velvet cupcakes. After going into the back room for about 10 minutes, she returned and confirmed they had the cupcakes. Okay. I asked about the ice cream that is advertised on Unilocal,as I did not see an ice cream counter in sight. The man in the chair finally spoke to me and said it was something he was still pondering over. Okay! I completed my order as I was very ready to get out of there! The man in the chair finally stood up, only to tell me they do not have the Red Velvet Cupcakes. He stated the young lady made a mistake. She just looked at him in confusion. Imagine how I felt… Quite frankly by this point I was over the entire experience. Won’t go back.

The caramel crunch was great and perfect in every way and I will be returning for another one. The red velvet was OK. It was very moist but it was a tad bit too far on the chocolate side. Red velvet is very hard to get right. Service was great and Marie was very friendly.

Much better than Gigi’s! They have a great variety, the sponge is moist and flavorful and has just the right amount of icing to cake ratio.

These are the best cupcakes in town! Very moist and wow the chocolate ganache frosting is to die for! I prefer the vanilla cupcakes, but all of them are moist and flavorful.

Met the owner and she was beyond pleasant. I stopped in on a whim being in the area. Very nice looking establishment. On to the cupcakes. By far the most moist cupcake I’ve had in my life! At the time of the review I’ve only eaten the lemon drop and it was surely delectable. If you’re in the area just do yourself a favor and stop by. If not for you then for someone else.

Gf wanted to satisfy her sweet tooth. Since Cupcake People in the area closed down, decided to give this cupcakery a try. The staff/owner was very friendly as he patiently explained to us the different flavors; on the contrary, the cupcakes didn’t fair well with our palate. We ended up getting the Lemon Drop & Milk-n-Cookies. Both had too much icing on top and taste was average. Lemon Drop: Filling inside was non-existent, but cake was somewhat moist. Milk-n-Cookies: Real chocolate chips baked in is a good idea, but the chocolate chips need to be a tad bigger. Cake was a bit dry for this one and the cookie on top has a burnt taste. Bottom line, worth a try for 1st-timers. After that, the decision is yours. If you do return, don’t forget to grab a loyalty card where you get a free cupcake after the 5th purchase.

Pretty good little cupcake joint in the burbs! We were having a craving for something sweet and found this place via Unilocal.I was a little wary once we found out that it was a chain of shops across the country, but the good Unilocal reviews and convenient location motivated us to continue on. We got to the store about 30 – 45 minutes to closing, so we knew we were probably being THOSE people, but we also understood availability might be limited given the late time, especially on a Sunday. The owner(employee? really big fan that took over the shop?) greeted us and was really nice. Since it was our first time, he explained the Specials and which options are most popular. He even let us know that if we picked a few that weren’t on display, they had the bases ready to be frosted and filled if necessary, which means almost all of the flavors were available. After a couple minutes of contemplation, my friend and I decided to get 6 to share.(I am pretty indecisive.) While he was filling/frosting one of them, his daughter rang us up. It was nice to see them working together. All of the ones that we tried were good, but the chocolate/PB and lemon especially were tasty. There is a lot of frosting, but it tastes yummy, and that’s coming from someone who normally scraps it all off! They are super crumbly though, so you have to eat over the trash can or a giant plate. Ate one in bed at the hotel… chocolate EVERYWHERE. I even tried to break it in half to eat in pieces and it just crumbled to bits, so maybe a little dry. But overall, pretty good, and I may try to find one closer to my home for my next visit!

The cup cakes were delicious! The packaging for the to go boxes for the mini cupcakes is very lacking! When you pay that much money for cupcakes and giving them out as gifts looks very crappy. Just a plain plastic box with no packing is not very pleasing to the eye.

Tasted okay, and has a limited number of smallcakes there. There were more regular sized cupcakes but prices are reasonable. Taste was okay but I wish they put down how many calories there are in one cupcake. Also there were only two tables there so it is more of a take out bakery.

Great tasting cupcakes. This appears to be a growing brand across several states. I recently visited for the first time and ordered a «Famous Red Velvet» and Cookies-n-Cream cupcake. The red velvet was my favorite, as I prefer cream cheese icing over buttercream. The red velvet cupcake was airy, light, moist and tasted how a red velvet cupcake should taste. The cream cheese icing complemented the cupcake. I paired the Cookies-n-Cream cupcake with vanilla bean ice cream. There was an abundance of icing on both of them. The two cupcakes I ordered is from the Signature Flavors that are available everyday and at $ 3.25 a cupcake, they are price slightly below the price at another local cupcake bakery. The cupcakes here rival those I have eaten from The Cup in Central West End in St. Louis.

I know coming from a woman this may sound like a bunch of lies, but I’ve never been a big fan of sweets. I’m always the one to nix dessert, I never have ice cream in the freezer, and I know for a fact the last time I ate chocolate was on Valentines Day. That being said I am also a nanny and the kids do not feel the same way I do. After a very long and annoying day spent at the ER I decided everyone needed a treat. We had seen this little cupcake place before and it was finally opened so we decided to go in. I decided why not and got myself a red velvet cupcake. I doubt I’ve ever had a better cupcake in my life. My initial thought was look at all this frosting I hate too much frosting… Let me tell you there was not a drop of it left. The cupcake itself was light, refreshing, delicious, and not overly sweet… the perfect cupcake. if I ever get married(which is highly doubtful) I will be ordering my wedding cupcakes from this place. They even had cupcakes for dogs how cute! My only recommendation is that they get cupcakes for cats since I have 4… could also be the reason I’ll never get married? Oh well, if I can drown my sorrows in these cupcakes for the rest of my life I will be perfectly content

Once you eat the frosting off, a cupcake is a muffin, and muffins are healthy, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake! Taking that good advice I came to Smallcakes to have a healthy Red Velvet cupcake. This new shop is clean and bright and the product takes center stage as you approach the counter. We tried the Red Velvet, Lemon Drop, and Peanut Butter Cup. The cupcakes are eye catching and attractive, with mounds of icing topping each one. The cakes themselves are moist, but(and I can’t believe I am saying this) with the excessive frosting are cloyingly sweet. The Lemon Cupcake hit you was both too sweet and too sour, which seems hard to do. The Peanut Butter Cup was not as sweet but was a bit heavy on the peanut butter flavor. The favorite was the classic Red Velvet, a well balanced cake with a great tasting cream cheese frosting. Smallcakes probably isn’t my first pick in cupcakes, but I wouldn’t be against stopping in again if in the area. Overall a nice shop for those who prefer a sweeter, generously frosted cupcake. A-ok!

The yummiest cupcakes in town!!! So many flavors to choose from. Can special order minis and they have gluten free options too. Great 4 and 6 pack options to choose your favorite or get one of each in a dozen. Yum yum.
