For many years I had stopped at Fay’s Candies in route to my mother’s house in Johnstown, when she made and sold candies right out of her basement. They were some of the best chocolates money could buy! Over the years Fay’s has grown by leaps and bounds and has moved to it’s own address and it is so much more than a candy store. They still make and hand dip their chocolates and they are as wonderful as they were the first time I bought them. Walking into this shop gives you so many gift giving ideas of gourmet coffees, teas, melt in your mouth taffy, nuts, jams, gift baskets and gourmet foods. I guarantee you, you will not walk out of this shop without homemade chocolates! They are $ 20.00 per pound, but worth their weight in gold. This town is kind of old school and even their assortment of wicker baskets includes picnic baskets and fishing baskets, however they do sell WebKinz stuffed animals. Everything is made from scratch from their caramel to their creamy centers and their peanut butter fillings. If in route to Johnstown, do stop in and try a chocolate or two or check them out on line to have them delivered to your door. It’s a rinky dink place loaded with homemade goodies. They truly are remarkable candies
