I went here for a cultural plunge assignment. It smells like fish and has a lot of food options not at normal stores(obviously, to be expected). If pig feet/intestines, 10 pound bags of rice, and soy sauce by the gallon is what you are looking for — this is your place. There are other options(American options…) but surely this caters to another crowd. My only dislike here is that it’s in a very sketchy part of town. I wouldn’t shop here, but if you need authentic Asian ingredients, do come.

I have been here a few times to buy my Asian groceries. I am used to multiple Asian grocery stores(99 Ranch, Seafood City in my home town). However coming here I like how everything is under one roof. Similar to an American grocery store they have the produce on one side. The store is huge and offers many ethnic options. They have a restaurant that looks to be closed however I haven’t seen anyone man the register or a sign indicating so I can’t say anything. They do however have a point-point station(similar to what Panda Express has) They sale fish in the back & luckily not in an aquarium but on ice. Maybe I am use to it but it doesn’t smell fishy. They have refrigerated isles, kitchen tools and again a variety of choices. What I thought was great –they have a variety of eggs, rice & beer. In the rice section, I wish they had more brand choices for calrose(short grain rice). Overall, I enjoy coming here even though it’s once a month. PRO — plenty of parking — most speak English — items are always organized — not busy — fair prices CON — some items don’t sell as fast as we live in a city where the minority is Asian.

As an Asian coming from California, I’ve been longing for some Asian food. Since there isn’t a wide variety of Asian restaurants in the area, cooking it myself is second choice. When I got here, I was pretty surprised at what I saw. It literally looked and smelt just like a typical Asian supermarket. Kinda dirty looking floors, that awkward smell of fish, rows of the most random ethnic foods, piles of produce. It was like I was in Asian heaven. You can probably find anything you are looking for here. I would have gave it 4 stars, but honestly, the food(esp produce) was a lot more expensive. I would recommend to get your regular produce from United or something and those hard to find items here.

This place has a wide selection of items that a homesick Asian would want or need. Moving from the big city of Houston to Amarillo was a change… but thanks to Tri’s market, I can pretty much get whatever I would have bought at Chinatown in Houston, here at Tri’s. They have your typical fresh vegetables and fruits at reasonable prices(I bought oranges for about $ 0.65/lb the other weekend)! Cheaper than Wal-mart and the vegetables look fresher too. They carry baby bok choi, gai lan, yu-choy etc… the staple Asian vegetables and they even carry fresh longan and lychee fruit! YUM. Their sauces, noodles, fresh seafood and meat section are enough to fulfill a craving and include more than enough varieties for any Asian household’s kitchen/spice cabinet. There’s a cooked foods section where you can buy pre-made roasted meats, egg rolls, rice, noodles, etc… and a café where you can buy drinks and«bubble tea» or coffee. I’ll be back!

This place was a blessing for my family when we first moved here. We are originally from southern Louisiana and always had easy access to all things Vietnamese and asian. After about 3 – 6 months from when we moved here, we were desperate for the depleted ingredients that travelled with us. During that time, which was about 3 – 4 years ago, they were not easy to find on the internet, but when we found it by asking around at the asian owned nail salons and from asian folks we ran into at Walmart, we were ecstatic to know that Amarillo has a asian grocery store that is fully stocked with Vietnamese, Chinese, and other asian ingredients! Also, it was a lot cleaner than even the super asian grocery stores in the bigger cities. Kudos to Amarillo for having this store. Without it, we would likely have moved on with another job in another city.

Couldn’t find kaffir lime leaves and anyone who could speak english to tell me where they were, ended up at Duon Phuong which had everything I needed for green curry, spoke english and was better priced.

If you can’t find it at Tri’s Market Place, you probably don’t need it! Asian, Hispanic, and American items. Fresh produce, big meat market. Wander the aisles and try to imagine how some of the items are used. The store is huge, so budget your time accordingly! The also have a spot where you can grab sticky rice, summer rolls, smoothies, and other ready to eat items. Their produce prices are the best in town– worth the drive!
