Way better than Starbucks! The Cappuccino is my favorite.

We picked it because it is local. Coffee tasted burnt. Light fixtures have a lot of dust hanging from them. Friendly enough counter help.

I love this little place! I had coffee here when I dropped off my Son to Amherst College a couple of years ago and I loved their coffee very much then, when we come back for graduation this year I know exactly where I was going to have my coffee. In California I mainly get my coffee at Peet’s and since that area does have any Peets I found it very challenging to find a good cup of coffee for me, surprisingly I found an amazing coffee shop in this little town. I recommend them if you’re a coffee snob ! Atmosphere are great Coffee are amazing Pastries are well made and fresh They meet my expectations I Will pass by again next time I am in town

Love this place. I come here all the time. Everyone is super friendly, coffee(or café, en francais) is always baller, and the cocktails are awesome. The lack of trashy shit like flavor shots and giant signs that read«order here» make this place feel a little less… Shitty. The only problem is that one person who thinks the bar is a perfect place to spread out all their shit and work on their computer. If that’s you, go to the fucking library and leave the bar stools for people who want to buy shit. Also, best whisky selection north of NYC.

Amherst Coffee is a minimalist coffee shop. They don’t offer many food items and the coffee drinks are pretty bland in flavor. Not a lot of seating either, so just a heads up. Staff is kind of rude as well.

I go here ALL the time, they have the punch cards — get 10 drinks(doesn’t have to be coffee, can be tea or cider) and you get a free one! I’ve gone through about two of these cards so far. The nonexistent wifi is TERRIBLE. you have to connect to the Amherst Town wifi & that is bad and do not go to Amherst Coffee thinking you will get a good wifi connection, unless you bring your own. The place is not small, but it is always always so so crowded, that it seems very small. Camping out there for hours is a good idea if you can get a seat! I recommend the scones and the croissants, they always have different ones and sometimes they are sweet, sometimes savory. The almond lemon pound cake they have sometimes is also incredible and worth every penny!

Convivial spot — appreciate the late hours, high quality bites(almonds, olives, etc.), and diverse seating options.

I love Amherst Coffee, because it has a very relaxing atmosphere. If I come during the day, I will usually bring my laptop and sit down for hours, sipping a delicious latte or tea(they have a wide selection! I’d order their Jasmine tea!). At night, they have an open bar which serves up interesting cocktails and wine. The only issue I have w/AC is that they shut down their WiFi at 8pm. I understand that this may allow them to save costs, however, it’s not really convenient for the average college student. Often, other cafes such as Rao’s or Starbucks are filled, so it would be nice if AC had WiFi 24⁄7 for students.

I miss this place so much! The teas and drinks are really good. I love the hipster ambience and I’ve had some amazing memories here! Amherst students: make the most of this coffee shop while you’re here:) not the best study place because there aren’t enough outlets but fantastic for socializing.

AC was my spot for years when I was an undergrad at UMass, and when I would visit my girlfriend at Mt. Holyoke after graduating. I’ve studied there, gone on dates there, worked from there — spent literally weeks of my life in that small room over the past 6 – 7 years. As a self-proclaimed coffee snob who’s lived in both Boston and NYC I still consider Amherst Coffee to be one of my favorite coffee shops, and I’ve found them to be pretty consistent in their other coffee shops(Greenfield Coffee and Northampton Coffee). I can’t think of a better latte in the Pioneer Valley. That being said, they don’t vary much from their standard menu of drinks and pastries, so if you’re expecting Stumptown in Amherst it’s not quite at that level. Food menu is very, very basic — just a few pastries and snacks. In terms of ambiance, AC is fantastic. I find it much more cozy than Rao’s, although it’s significantly smaller and students and faculty are always battling for the few spots with the outlets. Lighting in the evening is great for drinks but terrible for studying, so go home once it gets dark! Also — huge plus is the Whiskey Bar. Great little bar with lots of options and seating, and the bartenders are very friendly!

This little coffee shop is my slice of heaven. I am definitely a coffee snob having worked as a barista for many years, and I don’t mind spending that extra dollar on high quality coffee. The coffee tastes wonderful, a true party for your tastebuds. The staff is very friendly and they respect their craft. A must for anyone who loves great coffee, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love supporting local businesses? Starbucks is just as expensive and not even close to being as good.

Exceptional coffee. The baked goods are outstanding and the toast with raspberry jam is an unsung bargain in downtown. Outside seating on a nice day at Amherst Coffee is one of life’s joys. Yes, it’s snooty. I think you must have at least one master’s degree or be a published author to officially order, but if you use proper manners they will generally pretend like you belong.

Amherst coffee is excellent! Throughout the day they will offer a light or medium roast and a dark roast drip coffee, which is pretty standard for any coffee shop. The coffees themselves aren’t very standard, however. They are exotic, unique and complex in flavor, and delicious. I’m a fan of the Aceh. Their Italian roast is very good too. The pastries are delicious, they come from Tart baking co. I’m especially a fan of the scones — any of the ones with fruit or bits of ginger in them. Did I mention they have a Whiskey bar? You can order beer, or non-whiskey liquors, of which they have a pretty good selection, but the whiskey is really the main focus here, and hey have some great varieties. I’ve noticed they even fill the glass a little higher here than at other bars nearby.

Kinda weird. It’s the first coffee shop I’ve been to with an alcohol bar also. We stopped by after a date on a Friday night. Not super busy. Our drinks were good. Nice hipster vibe if you’re into that.

Whenever I come here, I always feel like I’m missing something. In my experience, the bartenders and baristas have been super cold to customers; they do not greet you, and often criticize if you are unaware of something they may or may not carry. For example, my friend asked for a recommendation(on beer) and the bartender responded«I don’t know, well they are all different» in a very condescending tone. While I love the layout in terms of being a well lit and calm workspace, I feel very uncomfortable ordering ANYTHING from here, whether it be a brew or a coffee. The staff need to be more welcoming, in my opinion. That being said, once you do get that coffee, it’s extremely delicious.

I think Amherst/Northampton/Greenfield Coffee are all great and they know what they are doing. This location is the busiest of the three and people tend to camp out here.

Been to many cafes, east coast to west. This one is one of my top favorites, only due to the décor, of a college town full of great white noise. Foodwise, it is okay, but don’t get the pastries which are less than average tasting(most awful(the only) croissants id have had which is full of bread and not soft). Some servers are friendly and pleasant while others aren’t too friendly for sure. Well, I can’t be too accurate since I was there only for a week. However, I frequent cafes too much that I think i know.

Really great, quality espresso and friendly service. Were I still a student, I’d love to come here to study — but wouldn’t mind spending some time here cozied up with a good book. Was surprised at the bar they also have at the front of the shop — serving alcohol AND coffee? That’s a win!
