After reading the reviews others have posted I was reluctant to eat here, glad I went. The food was very good and as for the service I was very happy with it. Any place can have a bad day and some more than others but this time I was very pleased with both the food and the service. One note, the web site is really in need of updating. Several items they had posted online were just not accurate. Enjoy, we did

Diverse menu. Portion sizes are fair, however their signature«pad Thai» was quite underwhelming. 2 shrimp, 3 quarter-sized pieces of chicken and 3 small tofu blocks. I was expecting a little more food than what was provided.

This is my favorite restaurant to go to for years. The food is amazing, the service is great, and the staff is kind. I recommend the baby rolls and tofu and shrimp Pad Thai. I’ve tried Pad Thai from many different restaurants but their Pad Thai is the best. There is a outdoor dining as well as indoor dining. Either way, you can’t go wrong at this place!

I have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years. I will not eat Thai food anywhere else. Every time I have tried another place I have been very disappointed. I highly recommend the tofu yellow curry, tofu pad Thai and curry triangles. This is my lunch spot to meet all my friends. The setting is intimate and the staff, attentive. It’s easily a favorite lunch spot. Esp the buffet. I often call on my way home from work and pick up dinner. ready with in 15 min of my call. Five stars. Easily

Kind of a creepy place, with ok food. - I went here for lunch, for no other reason than the food truck down the street was closed. I’d driven by here before and thought«I wonder what that place is like — it looks terrible». And now I know. - This restaurant is located on busy Rt 101A. There’s outdoor seating, but I think it would be kind of loud with the cars whizzing by all day. I went here kind of early — because I eat lunch early like a weirdo — and no one was here. No customers. Even when I left, no one was here. It was so creepy. The building looks run down, and I parked on the«wrong» side — there’s a backyard in the rear that’s full of childrens toys piled up — like they were going to clean out the old daycare or something and said«ah forget it» and just left it all in a giant pile. Creepy, again. - It’s OK inside. Teeny bar area. One big room with maybe 20 tables or so. They crank out that repetitive massage-parlor music the entire time. It’s hypnotically annoying after a half hour. - I kept hearing chickens while I was here, and sure enough, out the back window by my table, little kids are out there chasing or carrying giant hens. It was weird to be eating chicken pad thai while seeing kids wrestle and yell at each other over these chickens. - The food was ok. Nothing to rave about. They have these potato-triangle appetizer things, and they were all right. The chicken pad thai was OK. Nothing spectacular. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. Kind of expensive — they charged me $ 2.75 for my small diet coke. Lunch came to like 20 bucks. - It was creepy being the only person eating in a restaurant with kids chasing chickens out back in what was probably an old daycare center.

What a pleasant surprise to revisit Chiangmai Thai Restaurant after a long break. Had an amazing dinner. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The menu has changed dramatically. Give it a try. You’ll be licking your fingers!!!

Food was phenomenal. Unfortunately it took 2 hours from start to finish. Thankfully we were in no hurry whatsoever. I’d eat there again, but only when I know I have nothin go info on later in the day.

Thai is my favorite food and I can be a bit discerning. I came to this establishment both cold and hungry after a 12 mile hike nearby, I ordered the chicken coconut soup, Taro bubble tea, and Crazy chicken(drunken noodles). The Taro bubble tea was served in 15 minuets and was not bubble tea; it was an ice slushy with tarot flavor and tapioca balls that were frozen in the slushy and did not fit through the collapsed straw I was given with the drink. I had to instead use the straw like a fork and fork the tapioca balls out of the glass. Which is normally only something I’d do if I’m bored, which brings me to my pain point. I sat there and waited as the customers whom came there with me ate and sent back a plate and ate again and paid for their meal and were leaving. The servers whom took my order were going back and forth around me. And they sat and served another couple, and I just didn’t understand why I wasn’t served yet. So I walked up to the bar and told the server whom took my order than in 7 minuets it would be 1 hour since he took my order. Most people wouldn’t wait one hour to come up, and I normally wouldn’t, but I was reading a book on my phone while waiting and it took hunger pangs to shake me out of the spell of the screen. The server was very apologetic and frazzled and told me he’d go back to the kitchen to figure out what happened. In another 15 or so minuets my food was out, and so were all the patrons. By the time I left, the sun had set and I was sitting alone in the entire place. Both the soup and whatever dish«not drunken noodles» chicken-shrimp drunken noodles dish they served, were 5 out of 10. The chicken was bland and flavorless in both the soup and dish. The noodles were good, the shrimp was good, and the presentation was good(despite only 2 being in the entire dish), but the other meats and rest of the dish were underwhelming. And either to compensate me or because they forgot to add it to the order they had to remake; the tarot«bubble slushy» was missing from my bill. And despite the fact that I was checked on by the servers when I was eating, I was still quite ticked off at having been forgotten and having to wait nearly an hour. I have to say that the service was generally unenthusiastic and slow here, but I’ve never really been forgotten after placing my order before… in my life. But the fun doesn’t stop there. What spurred this review, the spark if you will, is that I remember my bill, and I saw what I was charged to my credit card a moment ago. My bill total after tax was $ 15 and I left a $ 2 tip because I was ticked. My credit card showed a $ 19 charge. I just called the card and contended my charge out of principal, but instead of opening up a dispute, they said it was cheaper for them to just give me $ 2. All of which left me with but a single means of recourse; This review.

A friend suggested Thai food as a take out dinner, so = I called Chiang Mai to place an order. No one answered. Originally I didn’t think this was a big deal. It was a Friday evening, and I would be driving by the restaurant on my way to my friend’s home. I stopped in to find no one available to take my take-out order. A gentleman who came in behind me stopped in at the bar to get a drink. A server came by and took his drink order, but not my food order. Another person came out to take the bar patron’s food order, then disappeared. A person finally reappeared to take my order. This person did not know how to enter two orders of Pad Thai in to their computer. The manager came out and first chose to berate his employee(in front of me!) before putting my order in. The order of my two Pad Thai dishes finally came out, 25 minutes after I had set foot in the store, and 40 minutes after I first tried calling them for a takeout order. When I finally got to my friend’s house, with the Pad Thai, we both found it to be a bit greasy. I did notice on their specials board that they offered some interesting blended cocktails, and the fellow at the bar had ordered a decent wine. Not all Thai dishes are fried, so there may be options that aren’t quite as oily. The dining-in experience may well be better than my experience with takeout, but this visit wasn’t my cup of tea.

Went in for dinner with my husband and son(10 year old). I got pad Thai, it was yummy. My husband loved the fried duck. My son got several apps and a soup. Luckily he is adventurous, so he liked the flavors of the food. We will go back to try some other menu items.

Ok. Very good Thai food despite the fact that we were literally the only couple in the restaurant. Service was spot on and the food was fresh and spot on. We will be back. PS. Pretty good Mai Tai’s. Btw ask for Ethan and let him know I sent you. Worth the drive out of Merrimack.

Best Thai food I’ve had anywhere. It had been consistently great since my childhood! A stable, delicious business that knows what it does right! Try the buffet.

The Pad Thai here was not very good at all. We asked for Chicken Pad Thai and received chicken, shrimp and tofu. I wouldn’t have minded the shrimp but the tofu is not good. We sent the food back and asked for Chicken pad thai. They literally took it out back, took the shrimp off it and brought it back out. It took so long to get the food and it was dead in there. Then to get it back with some shrimp picked off was very frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Had the starter soup w/e that was… not bad at all… The pad thai was excellent… enjoyed with the thai iced tea as recommended by a post below. Finished it off with a deep fried banana and coconut ice cream desert… will be coming here again when I get the chance!

We’ve eaten at Chiang Mai 4 or 5 times now, and the food is always excellent. The Tom Yum Goong Soup is flavorful, with a spicy bite to it. If you don’t like spicy food, my wife often get the Shrimp Silver Soup. It has shrimp in a clear broth with veggies and vermicelli noodles. If you enjoy seafood dishes, this place has lots of choices. The Broken Sea comes in a clay pot, and is full of shrimp, mussels, scallops, and veggies. I often get the green curry chicken. It’s listed as two stars, but I don’t think it is very spicy. It is full of flavor. If you get any of the entrée dishes(like the curries), remember to get a side of rice. Most of the dishes do not come with rice, so you will need to order it separately. The Thai iced coffee is a must if you like coffee drinks. Prices range between $ 10 and $ 14 for most of the choices. Portions are reasonable. The service is excellent. The last time we went for dinner, the server told us that they have a buffet on Thursdays and Fridays. We decided to check that out on the following Friday. We got to the restaurant and there was a sign on the door saying there would not be a buffet today. If you are going for the lunch buffet, it’s probably a good idea to call and make sure they are having it.

On my drive home, I decided to stop at Chiangmai Thai for a late Sunday night dinner. The place was very quiet and the dining room was empty around 8PM. I already knew what I wanted and ordered the Seafood Hot Pot($ 13.95) with steamed rice noodles(add $ 1). The seafood hot pot was served steaming hot in a clay pot. The hot pot had tender shrimp, scallops, squid, cod filets, baby corn, a mix of sauteed fresh vegetables & ginger, served soft rice noodles on the side, which I mixed into the hot pot, a really good and flavorful dish at a reasonable price. I would order the seafood hot pot again! The service was laid back and relaxed. The food was served in about 20 minutes after ordering. The waiter refilled my water glass during the course of dinner. Overall, a very good dinner in a very quiet and relaxed dining atmosphere while peering out the window at NH Route 101A traffic whizzing close by.

Came here on the rainiest day imaginable for a hot cup of Tom Yum Soup! My bf and I were first timers here. Nice décor, very quiet and quite spacious despite being a small building. Casual dress kind of joint. Soup was good nothing different from what I’ve had at others so if its a favorite of yours go ahead, order it and you won’t be disappointed. If you’ve never tried before it’s a tasty soup: D like a Thai hot and sour soup. We all loved the Siamese appetizer platter which had an assortment of chicken, shrimp satay with stuffed fried rolls and wontons. I only had the shrimp satay but the guys seemed to really like the fried goodies. Boyfriend order the Gai Kapow(chicken) with a side of rice and he really enjoyed it. His brother ordered the duck and although he had never had duck before… he said he’d definitely order it again. Kitchen was a lil slow on my order… though it was just a salad, it came last and the guys had already gotten through ¾ of their food by the time mine came. I ordered the Papaya Salad and unfortunately it was so hot it became unpalatable, couldn’t eat more than two bites of it. :(I normally have no problems with spicy food and love it but this one was unbearably hot. Gave it to my bf’s brother(mr. human garbage disposal) so he could try it and he couldn’t even do it … which astonished me. O_o on the bright side… because I only had two bites we all finished at the same time lol… Overall… it was good. Service was good. Kitchen service despite the wait for food was good. Papaya salad… EVIL.

We recently got takeout from here because our usual go-to thai place is way down in Mass — a little far for us to drive when we’re craving it. Our food was excellent. We each had the pad thai, which is really the only dish we ever get when eating at thai restaurants, and split an appetizer of baby rolls. The rolls were absolutely delicious(the sauce it comes with is amazing), and the pad thai was delicious, too. It comes with shrimp, tofu, and chicken. I got mine without tofu, and it was really fresh and tasty. Although it is not as good as our usual favorite place, this is definitely a very close second. Their other dishes on the dinner menu sound delicious, and we’ll be trying some in the future for sure. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated, and the staff seemed very friendly. People were leaving and entering as we came in to pick up the food and when we left, which is always a great sign if it’s a place you’ve never eaten at before. This is a blink and you’ll miss it place, it’s right on 101A in Amherst before Wal-Mart and the Mobil gas station. A great find, and we’re looking forward to ordering from them in the future. Definitely check it out if you live in the area.
