What a fun event!!! Benefiting the the Angels Baseball foundation, this event had ~ 5000 participants raising money for the foundation. Starting in the parking lot near the Orangewood entrance, the course ran west to State College, then north to Gene Autry Way. West again on Gene Autry Way until you travel under the 5 Fwy,(aka the 1 mile mark), before pulling a 180 and heading back to State College. A brief stretch to Katella Ave. and you’re headed back to the Gene Autry Way entrance to the parking lot. Libations available there to hydrate you before hitting the two mile marker. A cruise thru the north /northeast portion of the parking lot ensued before entering the most beautiful stadium in baseball,(yeah, yeah, I’m just slightly biased), for a lap around the warning track. This is where it got both interesting and frustrating… It felt like I was trying to get into a WalMart on Black Friday as soon as they opened the doors. Crazy crowded and thankfully, I wasn’t striving for some crazy ass time cuz I would have been $hit outta luck!!! Yeah, maybe for most this was the first time on a Major League Baseball field but so many selfies, group pics, etc., made for a frustrating run thru the stadium and hard to enjoy this particular stretch, at least for me :-( Then… It was back out into the parking lot where the finish line suddenly appeared and all was done!!! Roger Loge from«Blind Date» and the Angels’ «SportsLoge» radio program was even there to announce the finishers as they crossed the line!!! I see this as an annual event from now on for myself and the fam bam!!! Great Job Halos!!!

This was my second time doing the 5k. Some improvements were made from last year. The route changed from running past the 5 fwy to just around the streets but stayed inside the parking area towards the end of the run. Seemed like a shorter distance but I’m sure it wasn’t. We also received a medal this year. Woohoo!!! More vendors and not too crowded with people. The best part about this 5k is that after the run, everybody gets to attend the Angels baseball game!!! Last year, we could only go to the game that was on the same day of the run. They gave us a voucher for future dates but it’s limited. I don’t care if the seats are in the nosebleed section. As long as I can watch the game, from the big screen and be part of the crowd, I’m cool with that. It’s so much fun to dress up in Angels colors!!! Go Halos!!!

Someone challenged me to a 5K and I told them forget it. Then I saw this race… Being a die hard Angels fan I had to do it. My friend and I did this race last year. We had a blast!!! We got out in the sun, fresh air, the icing on the cake was we were able to walk on the field. At the end of the race they had water, fruit, and bars to recharge you. Everyone that helped put on the race was amazing. After the race they have a party with amazing free Angels stuff. This is great for you and your family to get out there and be active while having a great time. We had so much fun we signed up again this year.

This is more of a walk than a run. The purpose of this walk is for charity. I believe the walk is to strengthen the families and community of Orange County. The walk starts at the parking lot of the stadium. You then proceed to walk into the stadium and then make your way down to the field. To make it a 5K walk, they ask that you do the walk twice. Overall this is an event that families with kids will really enjoy. At the entrance of the stadium, there is a jumping castle and a rock climbing areas for kids. Kids would go bonkers here. There are also food trucks but the food served are nothing to rave about The cool thing about this is that you actually get to walk around the field, something you don’t generally get to do. Will I do this next year? — Nope. Will I do this in the future if I have kids? — Probably.

I enjoy doing this run every year! It’s a great way to get in some healthy physical activity, that is not overtaxing, and the money goes to one of the several youth organizations with the Angels Baseball Foundation supports. It’s low key, not too intense, hence it is a «fun run». There are no medals, just t-shirts and fun times. Get to walk around the field and get in some cool photo ops in the dug out! A good activity for the family!

First the positives: The actual race itself and event overall was pretty good. The staff and volunteers were friendly as well. What I think can be improved on are two things: please don’t tell everyone to come in through one entrance when multiple are open. The Orangewood entrance was kind of a hot mess even 45 mins before the race when I got there. My friend entered through State College that was wide open, hardly any cars parked there. The second mistake imo was giving out ticket vouchers to 5,000 plus fans for a sold-out game. Upon trying to redeem the voucher and talking with stadium employees, I found out that countless fans like ourselves had driven out there from all over to find out that the game was sold out and were given vouchers to a future game but in worse seats than what was on the original voucher. Felt like fool’s gold and did not think that was a cool thing to do to fans who show up and support your 5k at the crack of dawn that morning and then drive all the way back to support the team with the«vouchers». Find another perk that doesn’t feel like a shell game please! I’ve been going to games since ’86 while living in Dodger country and partly because I see the Angels as a class organization. I still do, I do get that it was the Freeway Series and don’t think they intentionally tried to screw us but there are definitely better alternatives than what they planned for in that respect.
