Mi Tierra Caliente Restaurant

To start, this place is around the corner from me house and I love Mexican food… so I had to try it! The place is small and full of people. Service is good.
Salsa and chips arrive, the chips are YUM but the salsa is kind of bland. We had to add salt and even ask the server for a scoop of pico de gallo to be added… now it tasted better.
BIG PLUS is their horchata, it comes in a big frozen mug and is actually really tasty. The food did come out quick! We ordered menudo with the hominy and pozole. I like that you can request menudo with or without the hominy. My BF really liked his menu and I was definitely happy with my pozole! The soups come with a side of repollo, onions, lemons, cilantro, oregano, and chile de Arbol. Overall a good place. I will be back!

I loved the food up to a few days ago, I ordered 3 horchatas and found a big cockroach inside one of the drinks. Told the waitress and all she said is she was sorry, the cockroach was probably inside the ice box, she offered new drinks which of course we did not get. My family and I cancelled our orders got up and left. I would never go back to this place or recommend this place at all! It was very disgusting and nasty!

I seriously thought this place was going to be bomb but no. The rice and beans had no flavor. Sorry but I don’t recommend this place at all. Waitress was very nice but never again. Try VIP TACOS on Lincoln and Rio vista you won’t be disappointed.

All in all I would not return to this place. Few things that stood out to me where: Refills were not free. No salad dressing for the measly salad they serve. Mexican food had very little flavor to it. Environment was also very generic and bland.

Great little family owned place. Service fabulous! The waitress was very friendly and was very patient with us with questions and recommendations.
Food was great. Chips light and airy — very delicious. Chipotle pork very flavorful. Grilled Cactus delicious. Chicken burrito pretty good. Very filling.
Happy hour great prices!

First time here. Food was good I tried the Morisqueta and was delicious wish it had more meat, but overall it was good. The waitress’s was very pleasant. The place is very clean and family oriented I will defiantly try again.

Service is ok, the food how ever was not so much I ordered tamales, shrimp and tacos the only thing that was ok were the tacos but that would of been the worst if they mess that up the waitress told me that the tamales aren’t fresh and that they do get a little hard but neither of the three tamales were eatable I told her about it and I still had to pay when only 2 bites were eaten I wouldn’t come back to eat here I feel robed I had to stop by at Taco Bell to get full and I don’t like Taco Bell

the house made salsa is spicy with lots of little uncommon yummy bits in it. it’s got a great fresh flavor and a fantastic spicy bite that nips you good when you first put it in your mouth and then stays with you a little bit after.
i had the mole chicken (i think it’s called mole con pollo?). i got mine shredded but you can also get on-​the-​bone. the meat wasn’t over-​salted and is wonderfully moist. the mole is PERFECT: earthy, nutty even, and just a tiny bit sweet
i’ve also had the barbacoa. they grill it and then serve it plain, with 3 sauces on the side. there’s a green sauce — very fresh tasting and a little spicy. there’s a red sauce with some heat in it. the last is a mole-​like sauce with oil that’s quite special. i couldn’t get enough of this last, but i actually ended up pouring all 3 (mostly the oily one) on the beef. couldn’t stop eating it
just recently discovered this place and so glad i did. i’m going back often

Delicious and affordable. I order to go because the music is loud.

holy crap best flan in the world! by far!

I may come back here again and change this review, but it may take awhile.
I gave the waitress the opportunity to recommend the best thing on the menu and she couldn’t tell me what was good. I ordered the el mitote, because it had both pork and a tamale with some rice… atleast I will have a couple different tastes, I also order a chile relleno. Whenever I go to a new Mexican food place, I have a chile relleno– it’s the staple judging element.
The chile relleno came out and it was okay. the thing had very little cheese inside and was mostly full of seeds and the stem.
then came the platter that I ordered. right away I was turned f by the slimey looking white rice, super surprised… Then I started poking at the tamale, definitely not fresh, the exterior was hard. The pork was sparse and filled with those wonderful bones…
I poked at it for a while and left.
The place was filled with people, so it might just be me. try for yourself.

The Food Is Amazing, Delicious & the service is Great Highly Recommended.
