Pinocchio’s Daring Journey

Not my favorite ride but it’s still a fun one. I’m not a fan of Pinocchio but I still enjoy this ride because it reminds me of my childhood.

Another childhood ride that i appreciate going on. Even though when i was little I didn’t care so much for Pinocchio cause he was kinda scary to me. As i ride this now it’s fun and more cutesy than anything. The only thing is if you don’t know the story when little you can get confused on what is all going on with the ride. But Disneyland knows how to make it kid friendly so the storyline don’t matter.

Old school classic. Looks exactly the same as when I rode this years ago.
Line was not that long and moves fast.
Pretty long ride compared to the others, you get most of the story of Pinocchio.

Another well done Disney classic storybook ride.
Maybe it’s me, but I always found the whole Pinocchio story just a tad creepy. All the elements of that creepiness are in this ride of course and kids who haven’t seen this movie will probably question what is exactly going on. Young children may get a little scared when going on this.
Like most other Disney rides, the animatronics are well done as is the look of the ride.
The line wasn’t too long at all for this one early on, but I’m not sure how it gets later in the day.
Fans of Pinocchio will of course love this ride.

I am terrified of Pinocchio and have been since I was a young child. I am now 23 and did not realize how scary this ride was. It goes so slow and everything seems so claustrophobic while going through this ride. I never go on it when I am at Disneyland and do not plan on it either.

This is one of three rides in Fantaslyland that I really don’t feel are that great for children. The other two being Snow White’s Scary Adventure and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. All three of these rides are dark and have scary elements that tend to make children feel uneasy for most of the ride. I’ve been bringing my daughter to Disneyland since she was three months old, she’s now six and still has trouble with these three rides.
The line for this ride doesn’t take very long, like Snow White they have a lot of cars and load people every few seconds. However, part of the line winds through the inside where there isn’t very good ventilation.
On this ride you get to actually see everything that Pinocchio went through. This ride follows the movie quite well and makes you feel like you’re Pinocchio and you’re going on this journey as him. You get put into a cage by Stromboli, go through Pleasure Island and «get swallowed by a whale.»
The ride itself is very dark and all of the bad things Pinocchio goes through are scary for little kids. Being thrown into a cage yourself, seeing the children donkey’s locked up and the whale attack were especially frightening for my daughter.
The one thing thing this ride does is actually give you happy ending. Yes Pinocchio went through a scary journey, but in the end he was able to be reunited with his father and become a real boy.
At least with this ride children are able to leave while knowing that everything turned out alright in the end.

Yes, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey may seem a bit dark and creepy, but have you seen the movie? It is one of the older rides in the park so it is a pretty short and slow ride that follows the chronological order of Pinocchio. Unless there is a 5 – 15 minute wait, I don’t feel this is a ride you should wait in a long line for. Pinocchio is an attraction I’m glad I did once but not one I’ll ever need to ride again.

We didn’t know the ride was so dark and scary. I think we traumatized our two year old. Thanks for the warning Disneyland!!!

This is one of the older storybook rides — like Peter Pan, Snow White, Mr. Toad’s, Winnie the Pooh, and Alice in Wonderland. It has not gotten the refurbishment that Alice has. nor whatever Peter Pan is currently getting (it had better be good after a FOUR MONTH refurbishment between January-​May).
But it’s always got short lines and it’s kinda cute.
Sure, it might be a bit «scary» with all the cages, the crazy carnival from hell, the boys turned into donkeys, and then almost getting swallowed whole by Monstro!!! But my 22 month old doesn’t seem to think so. In fact, she’s almost always heard saying «Again! Again!» just before the ride ends. And all the way until it does. And we get out. And try to distract her with the animated Olaf right by the exit. So we go again. And again. And again.
And again.

«Pinocchio’s Daring Journey» is actually sort of a despairing ride. Well … at least some parts of it are! Kids who haven’t seen the movie before will be a bit lost, but if you have seen this classic Disney tale, the ride stays mostly on point with the story.
I probably haven’t seen this movie since childhood (and realized I had forgotten parts of it while I was on the ride last), but the ride captures the essence of the movie pretty well. For the most part – from what I can remember – the ride sticks to the movie’s chronological order, with the exception of showing Gepetto’s toy shop at the end instead of at the beginning.
One of my friends – a former Disney cast member – told me that you often don’t see the main character in the ride itself because YOU are supposed to imagine that YOU are the character when going through the adventure. And, in this «Pinocchio» ride, you certainly do go through all of everyone’s favorite puppet’s adventures, ranging from performing on stage, being taken hostage in the cage, going to «Pleasure Island» and being swallowed by Monstro the whale.
I think the saddest/​darkest part of the ride is seeing the boys transformed into donkeys … although this was a memorable part of the movie, I had forgotten everything that happened on «Pleasure Island» (that is probably one of the more fun rooms of this ride, though, due to all the decorations and bright lights), but you just feel so sad upon seeing all the donkeys in cages! But at least this ride ends on a happy note – as does the movie – with Pinocchio being turned into a real boy by the Blue Fairy, being reunited with Gepetto and Jiminy Cricket being an official guardian. You can also bask in the ride’s happy ending as your «journey» takes you through Gepetto’s toyshop.
«Pinocchio» definitely does not have a Fast Pass option, so if you plan on taking your kids to this ride on a crowded Park day, it’s probably best to go in the earlier part of the day (same applies for other animatronics rides like «Peter Pan» and «Snow White»). While this isn’t a ride I go on over and over again, if it’s a slow Park day and I’m looking for a ride that I haven’t gone on in a long time – without a long wait time – I won’t hesitate to experience «Pinocchio.»

Long before James Spader creepily sang this song in the trailer for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, Pinocchio performed this in the animated classic. You’ll hear snippets of it during Pinocchio’s Daring Journey… but be surprised at how creepy this dark ride easily gets. Unlike many of the dark rides at Disneyland, where it tells the story of the movie they’re based on, it feels like this one skips past the beginning and goes right to the middle, where it shows what happens to naughty kids who make very bad life decisions, as well as our favorite puppet’s adventure inside Monstro.
Compared to, say, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, the semi-​animatronic figures in the ride are nice to see (keep an eye out for Jiminy Cricket and Figaro). We were surprised that the wait wasn’t too long — then again, we did go on a Monday.
As many Unilocalers have noted, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey isn’t really for really young kids — you may want to wait until they’re at least 6 or 7 (or even a bit older than that!) to take them on this ride.

Never a fan of the movie, but I think between this and Snow White, Pinnochio is slightly more entertaining.

Went on this ride once, that’s good enough for me.
The ride itself isn’t bad, it’s just aimed towards a much younger audience (as well as all the other rides in Fantasyland).
The ride props are full detail and the music for the ride is catchy!
Watch out for the whale!

Old school Disney ride, slow ride with animations around us. Some parts where dark Nd relatively scary, because of the storyline. I wish we knew the story to enjoy the ride more…

The ride is a bit on the more adult side surprisingly. There are some creepy or scary aspects of Pinocchio’s journey portrayed in this ride, but overall, it’s always pretty entertaining. The line can be long, but definitely shorter than Peter Pan and Mr Toad’s Wild Ride.

One of my favorite rides, besides Peter Pan Flight that I actually like. When I went as a kid the lines were short and the ride is pretty creepy itself. Caution– There are children turning into donkeys on this ride, the constant use of the word Jackass and children will be terrified of this ride.

The whole time during this ride, I was trying to remember if this Pinocchio ride correlated with the animated movie. All the scenes and depictions were dark and would likely scare small children.
I haven’t seen the movie since I was a child, so all I remember is his long nose and that giant whale.
If Peter Pan or the carousel are way too long a wait, swing by Pinocchio for a creepy time.

If you want to go on a creepy, traumatizing ride, then look no further than Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. Sure Pinocchio ends up a real boy at the end. He still goes through Hell to get there. Similar to the Snow White ride, this one intends on creeping out your youngster into submission. Don’t lie or you’ll turn into an ass. Sure there are blue fairies and cricket shaped consciences, but beware the giant whale. Pinocchio’s Daring Journey is located in Fantasyland and has one of the shorter lines in the park. Check it out if you’re looking for a break from the masses and heat of the summer.

Oh Pinocchio, you silly little would-​be boy. You’ve gotten into so much trouble in your short lifespan, but at least that trouble was interesting enough to make a ride out of it.
There are quite a few rides in Fantasyland that make me wonder if they were created with children in mind. I mean, it’s kind of scary. Not for me, you know, but as a child, I’d be pissing my pants!
The saving grace for me was Jiminy Cricket. He was positively everywhere, serenading you with songs about how wonderful the world is, how pretty life can be, if you can just look past the darkness all around you (kind of hard to do when the ride is dark, but you get the point.)
I had a crazy impulse to pull down one of the floating Jiminy Cricket’s while we were on the ride, but thankfully, common sense won out and I was able to ignore that impulse. He was right there, and he was just so cute!
At any rate, the ride does a good job of summing up all that Pinocchio went through before coming a real boy. I’d forgotten how rough his life was before Gepetto’s prayers brought him to life, but like all good Disney films, there was a happy ending for all.
Except for me. I never did get a Jiminy Cricket.

Bargain basement 15 minute wait line. There’s a reason the lines are shorter here, the ride has lost it’s audience a bit. Perhaps someday, they can ramp up this ride with more pizzazz. I think several rides in Fantasy Land can use a little more JOLT, this one being one of them.
It’s still colorful and predictable. If there was some way to bring the adventure alive, something like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, this ride can be more of a hit. I wish the Whale did swallow us down instead of just showing the big o’ mouth come at ya.
Good for kids under 13 years old though. It’s easy, breezy and electric colorful.
