So I hear it’s only a banquet facility now. Well I came here for a banquet and was thoroughly disgusted. The supposedly«clean» glasses on the table all smelled like old grease and the people at my table all got up, went to the bathrooms, and washed them ourselves. The smell was always on the wet cloths the servers wiped the tables off with and even their uniforms. The place smelled rancid! After washing our glasses ourselves, we refused to drink the tap water. Apparently this place doesn’t believe in fountain drinks. On each table were 2 liter bottles of soda. WTF? 2 liter bottles? How ghetto can you get? It was a College Awards banquet! Fine, the place is gross and cheap… but we’re still hungry and the food was paid for. Against our better judgment, we ate what was served. Most of it smelled and tasted fine. But we were served like 9 courses… and by course 4 we were all full. So you would assume they would remove the plates that were empty or at least as about the ones with food left on them… nope. The servers literally PILED the platters of food on top of other platters of food. 9 Platters of food did not fit with 2 liter bottles, glasses, plates, silverware, etc already on the table. Did they care? Nope! All 9 platter were stacked onto the table. GHETTO and gross! What’s on the bottom of the platters if the glasses were dirty? By the end of the banquet we were all ready to puke. It smelled, the servers disappeared and barely spoke English… they left the plates and platter on the table during the entire banquet… and then came out with orange slices for dessert at the end… add that to the pile. NEVEREVEREVEREVER use this place unless you don’t care about your guests. It’s not worth the money!!! Just stay away! Oh yeah, and if you have no tolerance for MSG… like me… your face will swell up the next day. Everyone kept asking me if I was okay at work the next day… I was swollen and had bags under my eyes. Awesome!

As of 9÷5÷2011, the Seafood Place 2 at 430 S. Brockhurst St. has changed to banquets-only operation and is no longer a restaurant. The owners run another Seafood Place at 12181 Brookhurst St. in Garden Grove, which moved into a new squeaky-clean building on 9.5.2011. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty. See my five-star review for that location.

The dim sum is tasty here. Whenever you go to a restaurant like this, it’s best to go family style and order a «coursed» meal. I’ve been to a few weddings here and the staff is very helpful and professional. Also, the food is delicious! The ambiance during weddings is also very nice, they have dim lighting(which I’m a fan of). If you’re going just to order one or two dishes for dinner, you might not get the same experience, but there’s always to go for that :)

My boyfriend and I ate at Seafood Place 2 for dinner last night. We have been to this restaurant before a few times for dim sum only. This was our first time eating here for dinner. We ate a late dinner tonight at around 8pm, and we were the only customers there aside from a Caucasian couple(the restaurant closes at 9pm). We ordered the wor wonton soup, the rumaki appetizer(liver wrapped with bacon), and the pork chop suey, along with a glass of wine. All of the food was well-prepared and tasted delicious. Service was excellent — very attentive. I would definitely recommend Seafood Place #2.

with such an extensive menu, i never know what to order whenever i go to this chinese restaurants… so we stuck with what we know. pros: + honey walnut shrimp. the walnut was so crunchy and sweet, shrimp were large and sweet! + house special tofu… fried cubes of tofu in their special sauce. + manager came over and said hello, nice guy cons: — house special fish fillets, really heavy and greasy :( — hot and sour soup, tooooooooo sourrrrrr. yuck — kung pao chicken, really average. sigh. — we had to ask for things like 3 times before we got it… staff just disappeared when we became the only family left in the restaurant(and no, it was not closing time yet). with soo many places just like this around the area, i would not recommend this place. i mean, you’ve got seafood place 1, seafood palace, seafood paradise, paracel seafood, capital seafood, royal seafood(yeah, they’re not very original with the names…), and my personal favorite, SEAFOODCOVE… think you should try an alternative.

This place is… just ok. I came here on a weekend to pick up dim sum to go. I figured how long can it be to get food that should already be on the dim sum cart? I walked in and the(I’m guessing owner) took down my order, and told me to sit down by the door to wait. I waited, and waited… 25 minutes! Granted, the food was probably piping hot and fresh(I wouldn’t know, since it took me 15 minute to drive home) but I wish the owner told me it would be a while. The portions were decent but it was not«cantonese» dim sum, but more of a cantonese meets… vietnamese? Still, I needed a quick dim sum fix. This did the job.

Yes… I know that I dined at a Chinese restaurant in OC that is outside of Little Saigon… My excuse? Friend’s wedding! ^_^ I’m glad that Seafood Place proves that there is HOPE for Chinese Restaurants outside of LS – However… This is strictly for«wedding dining,» so I have no idea how it is regularly – Please don’t hold me accountable… Or steal my cookies! Here go the 7 Courses: 1.) Lobster + Fruit — Interesting mix. I didn’t care for the whipped cream, but the lobster was delish, and the fruit was fresh!(RECOMMENDED!) 2.) Shark Fin Soup — More on the bland side…(Not Recommended) 3.) Yang Chow Fried Rice — Good and not overly sauced or salty.(RECOMMENDED!) 4.) House Special Lobster — The lobster didn’t look like it was missing any pieces, and it was cooked perfectly, so that the lobster wasn’t rubbery.(HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!) 5.) Walnut Shrimp — Their version has more honey than mayo and they also add sesame seeds… interesting touch. It’s good – and I do recommend it, but still I prefer«traditional» walnut shrimp.(RECOMMENDED!) 6.) Peking Duck — The duck was dry and the baos were soggy. ‘nough said.(NOTRECOMMENDED!) 7.) Fish Fillet in Garlic Sauce — Sounded so promising on the menu, but the sauce was REALLY salty, and the fish was ridiculously dry… like it was frozen for a month too long.(NOTRECOMMENDED!) In the end, this place really deserves 3.5 stars, so overall, I still recommend it – at least, for the tasty courses! THANKSFORREADING!

I booked a section of this restaurant for a banquet for school and I loved the service! The food was pretty good and there was enough for everyone at each table(1 table = 10 guests). They threw in some bonuses because we’re a student organization and were very flexible with everything. Not to mention the staff was wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful!(No cheesy decorations) Definitely worth looking into for a banquet.

Dim sum review — out of place in the neighborhood but if you need that Chinese food or dim sum quick fix, this place is decent. It seems to be pretty deserted or empty a lot of times but when we came around lunch time on a Saturday, there were about 5 other tables occupied. Inside the restaurant looks nice — I can see people have a decent wedding reception here but it does not stand out as excellent. For dim sum, they only have a few carts but they do have a picture menu so you can just tell them what you want and they will make it for you. All the standards are there — it tastes just fine & prices are decent. I think it cost about $ 20 when we ordered 6 dishes. Probably would not be a regular here… would more likely go for random dim sum craving combined with laziness to drive to Westminster.

Came here for dim sum on Monday. A little out of place, considering there are almost no other Chinese places nearby. Pricing is similar to other places, cheap dishes starting under $ 2. Three different kinds of shu mai, shrimp hargow, char siu bao, lots of traditional items. Shumai was large meaty and greasy(the way it should be!) The hargow was good, the shrimps plump.

Came here for a wedding and it was okay. The outside and the area that it is in is kind of shady looking. That said, the inside is nice and large and the dance floor is ample sized. There is a stage area for a band and on this given night, a head table. The food was okay. We had 9 courses and mostly seafood, from fried fish, to honey walnut shrimp, to a Korean type medley of cold seafood. Oh ya, about the only thing that wasn’t seafood was the duck, there were no chicken or beef dishes. The food was decent at best. It felt non-healthy for you as you were eating it, there was too much sauce on most things and too much grease, even for Chinese food. The service was good though and the servers were well dressed.

I came here for a wedding banquet. 8 courses, lots of seafood, nothing really impressive. Some dishes were better than others, but almost all were far too greasy and heavy for my taste. Also, some of the dishes were fried and breaded, when they really shouldn’t have been. The service was also pretty weak. I get that it’s a huge wedding with lots of people, but they really should plan on replacing our dishes more than once during an 8 course meal. Someone asked at our table to replace their dish, after 4 courses, and they were told they had to wait. Eating 8 different things off the same plate with the same utensils really ruins some of the meal…

My cousin had her wedding reception here this past Saturday, and although by now I have come to expect what you’ll get at a traditional Vietnamese/Chinese Wedding Banquet, I can’t help but always hope for something different. The Pro(s): 1.They’ve adoped the Cocktail Hour! Woo-Hoo, let’s be honest, this is almost everyone’s favorite time at a wedding reception. Open Bar, hors d’oeuvres – yeah baby! Sure, this is expected at «Americanized» weddings but it is a new novelty for Vietnamese weddings. I’m a fan! 2. The Crispy Prawn Purses were delish during Cocktail Hour. Fried? Good. Tons of Prawns? Even Better! 3. They had nice slip covers for the chairs which really up’ed the ante on the standard restaurant chairs. Brides-and-Grooms-to-be, take the advice of this Wedding Planner and always upgrade the chairs for your receptions. This simple addition really adds a level of class to any banquet hall. What Could’ve Been Better: 1. The Service. Horrible. It was expected but C’MON! This is someone’s wedding reception — they need to step up their game. 2. The food overall was«meh». Yes, Nam isn’t the biggest fan of Chinese cuisine. But you would think that having 8 courses would increase the chances/likelihood that I would like it. Not so much. Stars of the evening were the Crispy Prawn Purses and Fried Whole Fish. But with all that said and done, my cousin and her new hubby looked absolutely beautiful and blissfully happy. The XO Cognac may have had something to do with it but hey – it’s a Vietnamese wedding. :o)

I went here to attend my uncles wedding. They were having a typical viet style banquet dinner with 8 courses I think. There was an appetizer of shrimp egg rolls and fried shrimp wontons. They were huge and stuffed with shrimp, mostly whole shrimp. Of course being an asian wedding everyone was late, so I was glad my uncle ordered an appetizer to satisfy the hungry waiting masses. The appetizer was very good. They were huge and they were mostly filled with shrimp, not full of veggies. So for the courses, we had a cold platter filled with jellyfish, mayonnaise covered shrimp, viet cold cuts, pickled stuff and something else strange looking. I did not touch anything on the cold platter. Next was the shark fin and crab soup. It was fairly tasty. Nothing outstanding about it but it was fairly tasty. Then we had the peking duck which was the standout of the evening. The duck was deboned except for the drum stick and came with the buns. The duck was fantastic. It hardly had any fat on it and the skin was super crisp. Too bad I only had 2 bites of it as everyone else loved it too. Next was the lobster, which was cut up and stir fried on spices and a buttery sauce. We got a fairly big lobster and our table only ate half. Frankly, after eating Newport Seafood lobster special, no other lobster compares. But this is good if you’ve never had Newport Lobster. The next 3 dishes came out but I didnt eat it because I was too full, A mixed vegetable plate stir fry with imitation crab, a fried whole fish with sweet and sour sauce poured on top, and a combo fried rice. I was told the fried rice was not very good. So in conclusion, the food was decent. Ive had better but Ive certainly had way worse. The worst par of the night was the awful Viet wedding singers that were off key all night. And the place did not have even decent equipment and the room was not acoustically sound for a live performance. The speakers sounded blown.

Dim Sum? On a weekday? In west Anaheim? Sure! I’m not sure how it gets on weekends but when I went in the middle of the week it was pretty empty. Which makes me feel kinda bad for them because the space inside is so huge. Instead of carts, you order items like sushi rolls, it takes them a few minutes to steam them up. «A» items are $ 2.90, «B» $ 3.90, etc. pretty cheap. They have a picture menu with engrish so you can just point and choose. But be sure to not take too long because then the waitress will start yelling impatient suggestions for you. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu too, haven’t tried that yet. It’s definitely not the greatest dim sum, but I’d say it’s the best dim sum you can have for lunch with co-workers while working in west anaheim. Because it’s the only one!

The food isn’t that great. Variety is ok. Average dim sum fare. You could order the lo bo gao w/eggs on top– oily, but tastes good. My husband likes that the pai gu(sp.?) is cooked w/peanuts instead of taro. So, why do we keep coming back to this place instead of going to Roland Heights or Monterey Park for some good Dim Sum? The service. This place is never crowded and there is no wait. I don’t really enjoy standing in line, hallucinating from hunger, crowded by other starving Asians, as a lady bellows into a microphone, «Numbah FITTYNIIIIIIIIINE! Numbah FiTTY NIIIIIINE!!». Here’s the kicker, they automatically give you ice water. What? What? «Lies. Lies,» you say. I speak the truth — a Chinese restaurant that gives you water without you asking them in broken Chinese, «Ping Sway?»…Wait, there’s more. If you do not look like you are an efficient chopstick handler(i.e., white or Filipino), they will give you a fork. Now you’re probably thinking this place doesn’t even exist. No, really. I kid you not. The carts always come to your table because it’s not crowded. You don’t have to yank the waitress by the skirt to ask for more porridge. For a quick and cheap dim sum fix w/o the hassle, this is the place to go. You can go at any time during their dim sum hours and immediately get a table. If you prefer more variety and tastier dishes, you might want to pass on this one. Definitely not for the dim sum snob.

Located on the border of Anaheim and Garden Grove, this would not be my first choice among the many Chinese/Vietnamese spots in the area. However, the food is decent and the service was good. Maybe it has to do with my party being the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived. Just coming from wedding rehearsals, we needed a place to grub. None of us were familiar with the area so we chanced upon this place. They had one more dinner party come while we dined but it stayed very empty throughout our 90 minute meal. We spoke to the waiter and he tells us they are filled to the rafters during the weekends for dim sum. I can just imagine how crazy it must be with all the families chatting considering how cavernous it is. This place must do great business for weddings as they had a dance floor adjacent to the dining room.

(DIMSUMHOURS: M-F 10am-3pm/Sat & Sun 9am-3pm) The dim sum sign attracted us into the place. There were quite a few Asians eating in there so we hoped everything would be good. Dim sum is definitely served although the varieties were very limited. A hit and miss: har gow were good and so was the tripe, but the pork spareribs were absolutely disgusting. A lot of people ordered from the lunch menu and those looked really good. We only had dim sum. Service was above average. The interior was really large but not too clean. Surprisingly, the bathrooms were really clean — cleaner than the restaurant itself. WEIRD. Not sure I’d drive out here specifically for dim sum, but if you’re in the area and wanted some Chinese food, it’ll suffice. The lunch dishes definitely looked better than the dim sum.
