I normally don’t review a restaurant after just one visit, but I’ll make a rare exception in this case. I was out for lunch and was teaching at the school that’s nearby. I really wanted Mexican and remember seeing Taco Boy on the way to another school a while back. Well, this is a no frills almost Mexican dive restaurant complete with a large screen TV showing Spanish soccer– sorry– futbol. I went up to the counter and ordered two tacos with al pastor meat, and an order of taquitos. The taquitos come with 3 pieces for each order. After paying, I waited around for about 5 minutes(not bad) and got some green sauce as I was feeling a bit adventurous. I also wanted some lemons, but they were uncovered and looked a little dry, so I passed on those. I got back to the school and opened the taquitos and they came with shredded lettuce, some guacamole(not too much), and grated cheese. I dipped it in the green sauce and it was fantastic! I finished them off, but not too fast as I was eating around other teachers and didn’t want to seem like I was tearing into it like a buy one tv get 6 for free sale. I paced myself and when I opened the tacos al pastor, it looked and smelled incredible! It was not dry, piled with onions and cilantro rather generously. Gone. I told the guy at the counter the next time I go in I will be ordering their fish tacos as they looked very good! If I can manage to get up early enough on a weekend, I’ll get some of their menudo. They are reasonably priced I will definitely be back!!!

Not worth the trip, the money or stomach ache afterwards. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The inside is dirty and confusing to figure out what type of food you’ll be ordering.

More review: The carne asada gordita its is a huge bargain. Less than $ 2.00 and contains a fried split palm-sized corn frittata, refried beans, chopped steak, cabbage, tomato, crema, and a powdered cheese on top. Add some of their green salsa and you’ve got something very special and tasty for a great price. Two would satisfy a pretty hungry person. One comes pretty close. Add a taco for a mid range appetite, and you’re still under five bucks either way!

Taco boy is ok but Food poisoning? That’s not ok. Husband didn’t feel so well after their wet carne asada burrito. But since It’s close to my house we go to taco boy occasionally. It’s not the greatest but it will do when you having cravings. I got a pozole craving and decided to get the pork pozole. Big mistake! My container was a third full of oil. A little bit of hominy and 4 chunks of anonymous grey meat. I trusted taco boy and I ate one and it was really old pork. Then i ended up giving my dog the other pieces of pork. Uh oh! We ended up getting food poisoning.

I come here for the posole every Saturday bc it’s literally the only place I know of in the area that sells posole. It’s pretty good, but the meat really sucks. They don’t give you much of it but I still get it bc the soup is still really good & it’s only $ 5 for a big tub of it. Tacos are pretty bomb but overpriced, unless you go on Tuesday of course!

Nothing special about the carne asada fries here but they did their job. They’re simple and filling. They dont come with guacamole or sour cream unfortunately. On the plus side, they did have Mr Pibb which most of the taco places I go to don’t tend to have my favorite drink.

im not sure why im giving this place 3 stars, its very inconisitant with the posole which isnt too good but I LOVE posole so time and time again I come in and get it with different results EACH time. My first time was my best time yummy chucks of meat & lots of hominy . one time I didn’t get any meat, just pigs feet & hominey. another…I got very little meat with very little hominy and a ginormous pigs foot. AND another time. no homniy whatsoever and a nice peice of meat. after the hits and misses I still try to order posole here, telling them nicely upon ordering that i dont want pigs feet I want meat and hominy… I get broth and pigs feet urgh lol might be my fault for still ordering it but sometimes it comes out the way it did the first time ahaha tacos and salsa are veerrryyy good here! not ready to throw in the towel yet :(

For years, I’ve been on a journey to find a substitue for my favorite mexican restaurant, El Taurino(in LA) which is too far from where I live(Fullerton). When I was in college in Irvine, I would drive all the way to LA to grab some delicious tostadas, even a day before the important exam. Since it is too far, I have been looking for a substitue for El Taurino near Fullerton. I tried many places and their tostadas didn’t even close to El Taurino’s Yesterday, my friend recommended to try Taco Boy and since I was nearby, I came here during lunch time. I ordered: Tostada with Carne Asada($ 2.00 — 5⁄5) 2 Tripas tacos($ 1.30 each — 4⁄5) ***$ 0.85 on tuesdays!!! When I had tostada, it was like love at first sight. It was so gooood. I don’t know if it tastes better than El Taurino’s, but it was pretty close Just the right amount of every ingredient and the meat was cooked very nicely. And I also had tripas(cow intestine) tacos, it was my first time trying a tripas tacos. It was really good! The meat was very chewy like it’s supposed to be and was tasty; however it did have somewhat unpleasant oily aftertaste. I’ll come back to try some more tho. I think my journey has finally ended

$ 0.85 taco Tuesdays! My only regret when I came here was that I came full. I was not very hungry, so I only had 2 tacos — the lengua and cabeza. Both meats were very soft. I thought the soft taco shells was very nice too. They double layered it, the outside was more toasted and firm while the inner one was nice a soft. They already put some of the veggies inside, but you can always add more spices and salsa if you need. Definitely a good deal! I also had the horchata and the jamaica — both very different yet refreshing drinks.

i live down the street from this place, and at first I was very excited to live by a little hole in the wall. the more I ate there the more I hated it! I liked getting the pozole at first, but they ALWAYS serve you with a giant bone! even when I asked them to not put any, they put more… I realize a bone here and there would be fine but not a whole bowl of bones! THELASTANDFINALSTRAW was finding the LONGEST hair in my tacos! i will never go back there again.

The best taco meat choices are: lengua(tongue) and cabeza(head). Both are soft and tender and go with the rest of the taco extremely well. I always garnish with a ton of onions and lemon, with carrot, radish and chile on the side. All the Mexican drinks are mexcellent, with pineapple juice and horchata at a close tie for first, and jamaica(hibiscus) at a close second. As far as the other meats go, buche(stomach) is a great choice as well. The carne asada is popular, but I think the meat is cooked too long, making the meat on the harder side. Tripa(tripe) has a weird; it actually tastes like how I imagine dog food would taste. Stick to the ones above. The staff are extremely nice and polite, especially for a regular like me. Come often enough and get to know them, and you will see for yourself. Great local place to get cheap tacos!

Euclid location, much MUCH better. This place has THE most disgusting bathroom, EVER. Going in there made me lose my appetite and I wanted to cancel my order. Their sauce is so bomb! It’s the closest thing to El Taurino hot sauce in the OC area. The tacos and burritos are good, but the carne asada fries are A-OK. I like Alberto’s, Albert Taco’s or Molcasalsa’s better. Their carne asada is seasoned very well, but still feel like the Euclid location tastes better and more cleaner.

Taco Tuesday takeout tonight! Good deal. We had two types of pork tacos: lengua(tongue) and cabeza(head meat). The cabeza was tender and more tendril-ly. The lengua was ground up and softer. Both were delicious. At one point, I felt the onions were a little over-powering. We also had their soup. It was not bad: pork and chick peas. Overall, the quality of the meat was very good, especially for the deal your getting on Taco Tuesday! Oh boy, Taco Boy!

An okay experience. I stumbled upon this place late at night while driving home from work. I ordered two tacos(fish and chicken) and a chorizo and egg burrito. I also got a large fountain drink. The establishment is a bit of a hole in the wall. Service was cordial. I received my meal quickly. The fish taco was fairly typical; it tasted fine. The chicken taco was much more satisfying. The added green salsa had a pleasant extra kick. The burrito was also fairly typical. I would come here again for their tacos, but nothing so far makes this place stand out any more than the other Mexican eateries.

My review will strictly be on what I ordered: Carne Asada Nachos — Freshly made chips, carne asada, cheese, no beans, add sour cream & guacamole. Decent nachos, however I really wish they didn’t MICROWAVE my nachos just melt the cheese. Because there was already oil in the styrofoam container from the chips, the heat from the microwave literally melted holes in the styrofoam and some of it melted onto a few chips on the bottom. Carne Asada Taco — Decent, but word of warning… the sauce they put on it is unexpectedly SPICEY. OVERALL– Decent, but if you’re looking for some ‘loaded’ nachos, this isn’t the place. Like I always say, YOUWON’T KNOWUNLESSYOUTRYITFORYOURSELF!

Out of the few authentic Mexican food places that I have eaten at, Taco Boy is by far my favorite Mexican food eatery. I found out about this place since my Mexican coworkers go here every Tuesday. For tacos, Al Pastor and Carne Asada are the best. The meat is moist and flavorful. The same goes with the burritos. I always get half carne asada half al pastor. One of the biggest metrics in judging a Mexican eatery is how good its hot sauce is, and the sauce here is definitely one of the best. The condiment stand is self serve. I LOVETACOBOY!!! especially on taco tuesdays :] why you may ask? because it’s 75 cent tacos on tuesday! i’m a dedicated taco boy customer, but always went to the euclid location since i didn’t realize that there were more taco boys and especially one right next to the bf’s house. the bf and i come here every tuesday to get our carne fix and i got super excited when i found the one off of lincoln…3 miles vs. 10+ miles… hell yes!!! the tacos are the exact same… amazing. the carne asada meat is tender, perfectly seasoned and the tortillas are soft and greasy… YUM!!! the salsa bar is better at this location: you have the 3 salsas(mild, green, and spicy), radishes, carrots/jalapenos/onions, and limes. at the euclid location it’s just the 3 salsas, radishes, lemons, and sometimes they have the carrots or onions(which I LOVE) the refreshments: no beer at this location :(HOWEVER!!! they have a soda fountain w/sizes small or large, also have horchata of course :] and the large is large, unlike the euclid location. there the soda is only in a can and their large is the lincon’s small. service: gotta say i love the service at the taco boy on euclid versus the lincoln location. maybe because they got to know us at the euclid location? not sure, but the cashier and cooks at the lincoln location seemed annoyed, rude, and cold. BLEH. but hey 75 cent tacos that are delish and 3 miles away… yeaaa i think i may change the t.b. location… P. S. not sure if it’s a weekly thing but there were 15+ subarus all parked and they were all hanging out… ugh not my thing… but hopefully it was a one time thing.
