You haven’t tasted strawberries until you’ve had their strawberries. It’s a little pricey but definitely worth it the splurge. I usually spend $ 20 and buy a half case(that’s not the terminology they use) when I go to a gathering and feel the need to bring treats. It’s always gone before I leave the event. My kids are all over it like its candy.(I secretly wish I could be a kid and stuff myself too). People ask where I got it from and if I only buy organic. I always respond, «Nope. I buy these because I KNOW they are good.»

I tried to go to the Farmer’s Market in Anaheim Hills today, but it was not there… maybe because of the holidays? I hope they will be open next week! On my way home I saw this strawberry stand, which I have passed hundreds of times but never thought to stop. I hoped they had some good veggies. The selection was small today — carrots, beets, radishes, cilantro, and strawberries. I decided to buy three bunches of carrots, three bunches of beets, and a half flat of strawberries. My total was $ 16, not too bad. The lady working was really nice. She said everything had just been picked earlier this morning. After I paid she carried all my loot out to my car for me. I will definitely check this place out again, i’m sure they have different items every day. Hopefully when summer comes they will have a bigger selection of produce!

#200 by Rob W. Strawberry Fields, part of the original fabric of Orange County. As much as Orange Groves, Avocado Groves and Boysenberries, Yes — Strawberry Fields. Marking the start of the best seasons in Southern California, Spring and Summer. I loved those days in Spring when my Grandmother would come to pick me and my sister up from school and she had 2 flats of those juicy Strawberries on the floor of her VW Bus. Oh, the smell. When my Mom finally came around from running errands to pick us up from Grandmas house, we would take a few boxes home with us. The rest of the 2 flats? Shared with other family, friends, neighbors… Now I know the Strawberries I’m buying here weren’t grown in the small mock-field behind this little neighborhood stand but, I don’t care. Why? Because, somehow the friendly Mexican husband and wife that run this little stand are getting fresh-picked locally-grown Strawberries far better than anything I can buy in the store. They are as big and as ripe on the bottom of the box as the top. For keeping alive a simple Orange County tradition and causing me to pause for memories like these, I can’t thank them enough! For being open on Easter Sunday so I can buy some last minute and take them with me to my families house? I’m not worthy but, Thank You. So, the next time you see one of these little stands, STOP. Buy some, buy a lot. Think about sharing them with family, friends, a neighbor, your devoted companion, the list goes on and on if you let it… The address should bring you right to thier driveway. Otherwise, it’s near the corner of Mohler and Santa Ana Canyon.
