St Augustine Amphitheatre

The St. Augustine Amphitheater is one of a kind and absolutely wonderful! Excellent acoustics and not a bad seat in the house. They offer a great selection of artists and prices are very affordable. Some events are even free and family oriented. The surroundings are fabulous. Nature abounds with trees and foliage all around. I check their calendar frequently for updates and additions. Always a fun time!

The service here is TERRIBLE… we waited in three different lines only to be told cash only (there were no signs) When we finally got our 4^th line that took cards we waited in line for 15 minutes plus. and paid 30 dollars for two drinks!
While the talent this place books is great the service staff really needs an overhaul. possibly new employees!

Hands down best venue in Jacksonville. They have the best bands, seating, and sound quality. The shows are rain or shine. They have a membership «friends of St. Augustine amphitheatre» where you get early access to shows and free parking. I am pretty sure last annual fee was $ 75. They have several food and drink stands (alcohol included) some of which are pricey and cash only… and the lines can take forever. I think that is the only negative about the place. There is plenty of parking if you don’t mind walking yet several neighbors close by charge $ 10 – 20 for a closer spot. I highly recommend you follow the concert calendar and get out and see some shows!

I want to give a shout out to this venue for their wonderful staff but not for the reason you would think!
I attended a concert Sunday night — throwback Bryan Adams anyone? Sunday gave us horrible weather and pouring rain upon arrival. My friend and I parked at the Elks lodge and walked through to the venue. We had mini umbrellas which aren’t allowed inside so we threw them in the trees on the side and hoped they would still be there.
The concert was great! Even in the rain, the majority of seats were dry and the show started despite bad weather. Bathroom facilities and vendors are easily accessible. The view from the seats are great. The sound and acoustics were spot on. As the show ended, we went against the crowd so my friend could hit the facilities before we left. And this is where my review differs.
Apparently I was dehydrated. How did I know this? My blood pressure dropped and I fainted. When I came to I was on my knees on the floor and had a gaggle of people around me. Most were venue staff. They brought me water, helped me up, and got me to a seat. The on site EMTs were radioed who came and checked my blood pressure. Unfortunately face + concrete is not a good mix and I had some gnarly scrapes and a gash on my nose. EMTs recommended I hit the ER because I may have needed a stitch or surgical glue. My friend went to get our car (including our umbrellas which were still in the trees) and drove to the front. Staffers grabbed a wheel chair and rolled me up the hill to the front gate. They stayed with me until my friend came and helped me in the car.
So while the venue is great, I was extremely grateful to the staff for their quick and kind response when I found myself in a not so fun situation! And yes, I’m fine. No serious damage, just need lots of Neosporin and band aids.

This is hands down one of my favorite venues. I love for my music to be intimate and personal. Being in arena doesn’t have the same energy that smaller theaters do. I have been to at least 10 concerts at this location. I keep coming back because of the awesome acts that keep booking here but also because its in my home town.

There is not a bad seat in the house. And I mean that because I have been every where from the pit, seated pit, section 200, section 300 and up high in the uncovered section. Often times I don’t even sit in my seats if I am in the middle sections and just stand at the top of the landing. The Amphitheater is just like it is called… an amphitheater so it has the graduated elevated seating and then the bottom circles out into a half circle for the pit.
Seated pit can get kinda tricky when it comes to standing because it is not elevated (just on a flat plain in front of the stage) So I had an issue at the Sara Bareilles Concert when the lady in from of me was much taller than my 5’4″ and blocked my view for a good portion of the show. I couldn’t even attempt to see around her sometimes because she was enjoying the concert by dancing the entire time. I am all for people enjoying a concert but be considerate if you are in the seated area and have people behind you. (off soap box)
Depending on the kind of concert it is, the pit if it isn’t sated does get kinda crazy as it should lol I have always had fun down there. I’ve been in a few scuffles of people being annoyed when people surf to the front or spill things. There have been some nice people that have allowed me o stand in front of them because I was short. lol Security stays on top of that area for sure. Really security is so nice at this venue and half of them are volunteers.
I would recommend eating before you come. Its nothing to brag about or waste your money on honestly. The drink prices are affordable (like $ 4 beers, not $ 9 like at Veterans Memorial Arena) My older sister and I had a great time at the Alan Jackson concert with our bucket drinks! Its like a fruit punch with hidden surprises inside lol I usually like to buy merch (usually once you come straight up the stairs after ticket check in, the booth is in between the concessions) and bring cash because they tend to form two lines (cash credit) and cash goes faster.
FYI there are two bathrooms. The main ones are on the left and right of the venue when you first walk in past the ticket check in and up the stairs. there are about 20 stalls but the line tends to get very long. I like going to the bathrooms down the ramp on the right side of the stage (if you are facing it). These bathrooms are usually used by the pit ticket holders but not many people know they are there. There are only 3 stalls but still goes faster.
PARKING! If you don’t wanna pay an extra $ 10 (cash) for parking, There are tons of local places to park that are a short walking distance from the theater. my sister lives just around the corner so we ride our bikes. Parking will fill up fast. There is a baptist church down the street that isn’t a far walk and is free. Some people that live by the road rent out their yards. There are tons of options near by.

I have been here for kid and adult concerts. I always have a great time. This is amphitheatre is smaller than most that I have been to, but definitely makes up for it in other areas. They have some good food and drink options. Not only do they have your standard concessions. But once you walk up the stairs they have more vendors lined up under tents selling food and beverages. They also pull in some really good acts, old school and new.
They do a good job with parking and getting you to your seat. Parking can be a hassle sometimes b/​c of the size but it tends to work its way out. I always have a good time at the amphitheatre. Hope to have more good times!

I had been told by a handful of people that the St. Augustine Amphitheater was a nice place to see a concert but I was still very impressed when I finally got to attend one there. I saw Matt Nathanson and Gavin Degraw a couple of weeks ago and could not have had a better experience. The friendly parking attendants got us a great spot (very easy to get out of at the end of the night!) even though we arrived after the concert had started.
Our seats were almost in the very last row of the place but it worked out nicely as there was a great breeze off the ocean. We could see the lighthouse and the sunset during the concert and it made for a very nice atmosphere. The volunteers that helped us find our seats and lit up the stairs for us when we left were great. The top section made for some very amusing people watching as well.
We had stopped for dinner since we had come straight from work and did not realize just how many food and drink options there would be. We even got a friendly «have a good night and get home safe» from the security guards as we left. Oh, and the music was pretty good, too! I’m looking forward to hitting the amphitheater for more concerts in the future.

I continue to be super impressed with the St. Augustine amphitheater! What is lacks in size, it totally makes up for in amazing, loud and surrounding sound.
I’ve seen a few shows here, including Wilco, Smashing Pumpkins, Buddy Guy… and from alt. country, blues to rock, and no matter where we are sitting, the music has sounded amazing.
There are quite a few options for concert snacks and beer… and as with any concert, there will be a long line for the ladies room. There is a nice patch of grass at the top with a designated smoking area and with the venue being on the smaller side, it is pretty easy to navigate.
Unless you are running late for a show, and in that case, parking is gonna be a B! Definitely plan on getting there a bit early, so you won’t have to pay to park in someone’s yard across the street.
And since it’s an outdoor venue… cross you fingers it doesn’t rain. (And if you forgot your poncho, expect to pay 20 bucks for one with the opportunist folks out front.)
Lol, so I guess with the above mentioned, it sounds like I’m not the biggest fan, but if you have the heads up on these things, you can breeze right into the show and enjoy an amazing concert. That’s why it’s 5 stars.

This was my very first time attending a concert at this venue. And hopefully not my last. Some friends and I made the trip from Orlando to see Sara Bareilles in concert not knowing what to expect since it would be our first time.
The only thing we would’ve probably changed would be to give ourselves more time to find parking. Traffic was insane! By the time we go to the area, parking closer to the amphitheatre was full. We ended up finding a lot across the street that was offering $ 15 parking and thankfully it was only about a 2 minute walk. I was impressed that they had cops working to direct traffic and ensure that passengers could cross the street safely.
