Food was amazing and staff was friendly. We had burgers and ribeye philly sandwich. Awesome.

Originally from Detroit, I can definitely say their «Detroit Style» Deep Dish Pizza is legit! It takes about 30 mins to make, so be patient. We ordered the BBQ Chicken pizza and it was wonderful– very filling!

Their hours are misleading. I came in for a late bite but they close the kitchen at 11pm, but the bar stays open till 1am. Kind of a let down. The one time I had pizza here it was pretty good though. So split a bad review and a good one, 3 stars.

We got the blackened chicken pizza, a halibut burger, and a Greek salad. All very average. The pizza tastes like frozen pizza. Good service though!

We stopped in for some apps and drinks today. Huge beer and wine selection as well as a full bar. We got the crab cakes and the halibut chunks. We are so so so pleased. Honestly bed halibut I’ve ever had and I was raised in Alaska. I live in Texas now and was so happy to have such a delicious meal! Thanks a ton and Gig Em!

Have eaten here quite a few times over the last couple of years while living in Girdwood. Good burgers. Everything else is fair with somewhat high prices. Service is my biggest complaint. More than half the time I have experienced poor service; forgotten items, having to go find the server to ask for something, etc. Most recently we ordered a pizza to go and my wife showed up 10 minutes after they said it would be ready. It wasn’t, she had to wait another 10 minutes. Then she got it home and the order was wrong. Would have taken it back but we were so hungry we couldn’t wait another 45 minutes for another pizza.

First time visiting Alaska and doing the Turnagain Arm Drive. Stopped in Chair 5 for some lunch and was not disappointed. Try the blackened halibut burger. Plus Alaskan beer on tap that’s like Blue Moon. Good stuff!

The waitress was cool until she forgot my motherfucking meal. They used both yellow and white bulbs in the same light fixture.

Was pretty bummed today! I love the burgers at Chair 5 so of course I bragged about them to a group I was with today. I’m not sure if the cooks were overwhelmed or low on their food order but our burgers came out with a frozen thin meat (?) patty — complete with the lame fake grill marks, contrary to the typical fresh handmade meat patties. Please just tell me you sold out of red meat next time. The other items ordered were great!

First off it should be called «Chair 5 Detroit Pizza.» The square deep dish Detroit pizza is LEGIT! I asked the server about it and, yep, the chef is from Detroit! Best Detroit style pizza I have ever had.
I ate here three times on my vacation. Each time, the food was excellent, with HUGE portions. I had:
Crab cakes– awesome. Mostly red crab and very little cake! With mandarin orange hollandaise. Loved it.
Halibut chunks: fried halibut with panko breading. Fabulous. Homemade tartar sauce.
Two burgers: Dano’s crowbar and the Mick Nickel. Huge, quality burgers on delicious brioches buns.
Chili: good homemade chili
Cool place. Great service. Nice folks. Good food.

My sister and I came down to Girdwood for a birthday day weekend getaway. I saw the reviews and I had to try it. We went early for lunch and was greeted by a very friendly staff. I don’t remember our waitress name but she said she was working a double.
We ordered the buffalo wings as our appetizer and let me tell you they were the best I ever I had. I am very picky and these are by far the best. We had a couple of beers to wash them down and it surprised me they had Pacifico. Now I knew I was in heaven. We both then ordered the Halibut and chips and all I can say is Amazing. The Halibut was fresh and so delicious. The only thing wrong was we couldn’t finish our food because we were stuffed. I plan on going back for dinner and if not I will be getting a couple of orders of wings to go tomorrow when we check out.

Deep Dish pizza was as advertised. Get one!!!
Wife had a burger and it was awesome. The bun was «amazing.» She had a side salad and the Homemade Ranch dressing was «amazing,» as well.
Good high chairs for a one year old
Bathroom has a good diaper changing station.
Will be back and make this a regular stop!!!

I’m not sure why everyone’s so excited about this place. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. But how can one go wrong with a burger & beer? We wandered in on a late Saturday afternoon because we were hungry & this seemed to be the only place of the road that was open. The inside looks like a bar with tables on the side. It was pretty empty when we arrived. The food wasn’t very tasty. The burger was dry & overcooked. Because I was hungry, I ended up choking it down with a watery IPA. The pricy meal wasn’t worth the money. Happily, the staff was very nice.

Hubs and I took a drive out to Girdwood today. Hadn’t gotten the opportunity to do so since moving to Anchorage this summer, but the drive was beautiful and we came upon this place at the ideal time… when nobody was in there!
Ambience: ¹⁰⁄₁₀ for your typical Bar/​Pub. I loved the wood, and furnishings, and the fact we could sit next to the window looking out on snow covered trees. Loved it!
Service: ¹⁰⁄₁₀. Nice server. Quick with his service and he got everything right.
Hubs got the Halibut fish and chips while I got the Tundra Burger and a couple beers. Hubs had to work later so I drank alone, lol
Tundra Burger/​Fries: ¹⁰⁄₁₀. I got this because the meat used is a combination of Caribou/​Bison that’s delivered fresh from a local Anchorage butcher. I was very surprised to find it tasted exactly like a super high quality beef. Crisp produce and high quality cheddar cheese along with a good sesame bun and I was very pleased. The french fries also get a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ because they were perfectly cooked and crispy! Great flavor! Burger was so filling that I still haven’t eaten anything else today and we ate here around noon, today!
Halibut fish n chips: I only had a small sample, but hubs loved it and I thought it was pretty good myself. Same fries. ⁹⁄₁₀.
Nice place overall. Would come here more frequently if it were closer. We’ll definitely be back though as Girdwood is a possible location we’re considering for buying our house in the not too distant future.

I’ve come here quite a few times over the years, and I used to really like it as a kid, but the high prices and the pretty average food have kept me away.
My brother really likes the pizza here, so we came here once this summer. I had a tasty fish sandwich, but the service was ridiculously slow. Even though we came about 3pm (and the restaurant wasn’t all that full), it took forever to to place our orders and get our food, and I swore that I wouldn’t come back.
This past Friday night, after being turned away from another Girdwood spot (one guess where), I somewhat reluctantly brought my visiting friend here because it seemed to have the most vegetarian options (even though you have to spend $ 3 to get a veggie burger instead of a meat burger, which just seems counter intuitive to me…) We split a pizza with a visiting friend this past weekend and thought it was pretty good, the crust was both crispy and pillowy in spots, and there was lots of fresh mozzarella on our margherita pizza which was a plus. Service was prompt and friendly this time, and Chair 5 has somewhat redeemed itself in my mind.

I got the jalapeño burger and it was lame — crappy bun, crappy not hand pressed burger, pretty much tasteless and over priced. Wife spent 2 bucks more for the Greek salad which had 2 grape tomatoes (neither was fresh and one was rotten) the rest was just a bunch of lettuce. Fricken 14.75 for the Greek crap salad lettuce
Entrée what a joke. This place wouldn’t last anywhere but Girdwood. Fries were ok I guess.

One of my go-​to spots when I’m at Alyeska. This place is always packed, always loud, and always awesome. Beer, pizza, and a whole bunch of other awesome options. Parking is super tight so you might have to drive around the place a few times to get one but don’t let that keep you from going in! 5 stars without a doubt!

THis is the pizza to get in girdwood. Traditional or deep dish, it is hearty and yummy.
Salads were good too.
Good mixed drinks. Friendly service.

After a long day of hiking the trail at the nearby Alyeska Resort, we decided to head to the new townsite of Girdwood for a bite to eat before heading home. We followed the knife and fork symbol on the highway sign down the small main street and the first restaurant we spotted turned out to be Chair 5.
We showed up around 6pm on a Tuesday and the dining area on the bar side was full and loud, but the smaller, quieter room on the side had one booth open with our names all over it. This dining area has forest themed furniture, neutral walls, and tons of Alaska posters for everything from film to historical town photos.
Before looking over the menu, familiarize yourself with the House Rules on the front page (number one of which says No Gunfights). The lunch menu is full of seafood and wild game meats to satisfy anyones hunger. I landed on the Kodiak burger (locally ground Alaskan elk patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and a side of fries). The patty was lean and amazing with sharper flavor than the usual beef and each bite was as juicy as the one before it!
Even though the place was packed, our waitress was hustling all over the place while making sure everyone got what they wanted. Plus, on such a hot day, our water glasses were never empty!

A must stop. Great local bar off the main road near Girdwood. Not city at all and the people here are very friendly and nice. Good selection of beer on tap and a full menu. Can’t talk much about food (good or bad) I just had a burger that was good and seemed pre-​pressed and my wife had salad. If traveling up coastal highway between Anchorage and Whittier, worth a stop.
