Amazing service and really good food! We were on a 10 hour road trip and decided to stop off here! It was the exact type of restaurant we were looking for! The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I was going to order pie but when I went up to the pie case and looked in i noticed everything was store bought not homemade :(!

Only been here once… for a couple of reasons. The food was awful, it took most of an hour, and although the staff was very nice, they weren’t at all professional.

Our waitress was very nice, but our food was very average. Took a surprising amount of time! Everyone felt very flustered. Love that they have a huge menu with many many options

If you like bob Evans you’ll like it here. Serve better ingredients please. Gross cheap eggs. Artificial syrup. Really enjoyed the guy next to me at the counter… he was cutting his nails. 20+ minutes to get a terrible order of biscuits and gravy. Non weekend. Not busy. Eat at home.

Delicious food. Nice service. The food came out pretty quickly. The vibe there was a cross between a Denny’s and an old diner. I was the youngest one in there but no one goes to diners to be surrounded by young and hip people right? Anyway, the food was good and it’s kinda the only place in town that looks safe to eat.

The only reason I gave any stars for this visit is because we were finally waited on by someone I believe to be the manager and he was great. We were at our table exactly one hour before we got food. We were immediately seated, given drinks and told our server, Stephanie, would be right with us. That never happened. I can’t even tell you who Stephanie was because we never saw her. After people who were seated after us received their food we began trying to get someone’s attention. Finally, Dirk came to our rescue. The food was standard breakfast food. No better or worse than any place else. They weren’t at all busy for a Sunday morning/noon. Trying to keep our business local is hard to do when there are so few choices and one of them has service this bad.

Synopsis: Excellent service, decent food on a good sized menu. Clean dining area with comfortable tables. Thumbs up! Full Review: Have to say I am pleasantly surprised here. Didn’t really know what to expect with this diner-like restaurant. The menu was impressive with all day breakfast and a good range of American fare from burgers to salads. I had the veggie burger and it was excellent and hubby tried the California Chicken Sandwich — also a great choice. The side salad was a good size and fresh, hubby’s fries were hot and delicious(I hear — he wouldn’t share even after I said I needed to try everything for the review) Wait staff was friendly and had an uncanny ability to show up just as I needed something. Weird. Vittles is a decent, middle of the road dining experience where there is something of everyone and you won’t be sorry.

Give it 3.25 stars. The waitstaff is certainly competent enough, even though our server was not old enough to pour a beer. No problem… I had the fried scallops, about a dozen dime sized mini-scallops. Pretty decent. My wife had the fried shrimp. She offered me a taste of her shrimp and I couldn’t taste the difference between the scallops(heavily coated) and the shrimp, also heavily coated. Vittles is as the name would suggest, a Family(geriatric) Restaurant. Nothing on the menu looked like a gourmet meal, unless you considered chicken fried steak an evening treat. The six person family behind us ordered breakfasts at 6:00 p.m., including the aforementioned chicken fried steak that seemingly had the same coating as on the scallops and shrimp. Nah… that wouldn’t be kosher. All in all, basic food that was basically prepared.

Nice atmosphere, clean. Good variety on menu options. Folger’s coffee served here(ewe). Tried the beef tostada salad. And it tasted as good as it looked .good portions. Service was ok but this was well after lunch hour. If they had better coffee I would give 5 stars for a lunch place.

Food was tasty-we were two adults and two kids. Kids had breakfast for dinner and gobbled it all up. My wife had tacos, and I had salad. The waitress was fun and the service was great. Best part was the Kids Eat Free Tuesdays. Our bill was only $ 32!

Great chicken fried steak, country fried potatoes, and biscuits and gravy! My wife and I drive down to Anderson from Redding just to eat here! Better service at this restaurant and you get at most restaurants in Redding.

The waitress was sweet at first, but when our omelettes came, my husbands avocado, bacon and cheese omelet had no avocado. And my California omelet did not come with the side of salsa that it was supposed to come with. Then I realized my omelette also had no avocado. I spoke with the waitress, who informed me it did not come with avocado. I told her I was sure it did, she argued with me a bit, then finally got a menu to prove to me I was wrong. Nope. Avocado clearly there. Brings me two little slices. But, in all fairness, when we finally got our food the way it was supposed to be, it was delicious!

Based on the photo of the French Dip sandwich, I ordered one. Not as good as the photo. The sliced beef was meager and the fries were as soft as baked dinner fries. There’s better value at the fast food chains for this price.

This was a nice place. It was clean and decent, affordable, and easy to locate(for someone not familiar with this town) not far from the freeway. I had chicken-fried steak and gravy. It was cooked right and I cleaned my plate :) The staff were nice and courteous. There was a large party of people there at the same time, making it take longer for us to be waited on, but it really wasn’t the fault of the staff, as the group contained quite a number of mentally-handicapped people who were making things difficult for them. The waitress apologized for the wait, none the less, and allowed us to pay ahead of the party, who all had separate checks for each of their 20+ people in the group. I would recommend this place to a friend, and would go there again if I have the chance.

This place was bad all around. We ordered 2 patty melts with soup. I asked for no onions on mine which the waiters wrote down. We also ordered a breakfast. While waiting for the food I waved her down 3 times to ask if we can get the soup first. 3 times! Each time she glanced at me and walked the other way. Took almost 40 mins to get the food, during this wait not once were we checked on for refills or to see if we needed anything(like the soup first). Once the food comes out both patty melts had onions, and the soups weren’t even warm. She takes mine back and I wait another 25mins for my burger. We had already asked again for a decaf and during the 25 min wait we asked for the decaf coffee 2 more times. Each time we asked she didn’t say anything just listens and walks away. By the time my food finally came out properly everyone else was done eating. That’s also when we finally brought the coffee, which my dad passed on since he was already done with his meal. When she brought my food she noticed everyone else was done eating came back quickly with the bill and left it on the table as she walked by, didn’t look at us, say anything or ask if we needed anything else. The food that came out first was average if that. My patty melt that took 25 mins seemed rushed because the Kraft singles they used as cheese weren’t really melted. They offered us no solution to the fact that 25 mins after everyone’s food was out and already done I barely got mine. No one goes to a restaurant with a group to eat at separate times. We asked for a discount and a different waiter told her to take the meal off the check, which was nice considering I had a couple bites and decided to pass on the rushed food. We only stopped her because it was off the freeway and we are road tripping. Next time we head back this way we’re gonna pass on this place!

Great service, great food, great prices. So much to choose from. Breakfast served all day. About 5 or 6 different items for the kids to choose from on the kids menu. I saw a ton of different menu options that I had to choose from… a burger(about 4 different kinds), BLT, Philly steak sandwich, taco salad to a patty melt and what I decided on was their french dip sandwich from the lunch menu. YUM!!! I am very picky about how I like my meat sliced when having a french dip… I like the meat thinly sliced with my bun buttered and toasted. That’s EXACTLY how I got my meal! There was plenty of meat on there too, not skimpy at all! Fries were baked not fried, thank gosh! I was a happy camper with the way my meal tasted. Lemonade was quenching, not sour! My hubby got the hamburger club sandwich. It was HUGE! Great portions for the money. He said that the sandwich was made with generous portions of fixings and the ham was quality as was the burger. He had his with fries as well. Our kids had the 5 chicken nuggets meal from the kids menu, she ate them all so that’s a plus! Son had the french toast with egg over easy with bacon. It was 3 slices of french toast buttered and sprinkled with powdered sugar. He smacked the egg and bacon in between the french toast and ate it like a sandwich! Hey as long as his plate is clean in the end is all that matters! He loved it and got himself a «clean plate sticker» LOL! That was from the breakfast menu. Service was friendly and energetic. I will remember the place when traveling out of Redding and hit it up again! Better than Denny’s hands down! Extensive wine list with a lot of local wines.
