I also stayed at the main cabin… It was so comfortable there. Everything was clean and in great condition. It is a great headquarters for a family reunion. Everything in the kitchen worked and there were some plates and utensils to use and if we kept up on the dishes we could have gone green… maybe we could use more silverware and more dishes and cups. Could there be a place to recycle at the office? That would have been soo nice. I liked how the bathrooms were restocked. The altitude is about 8000 ft. and so a lot of us had to get used to it… but if we took it easy for the first day or two we did fine. I have such good memories of this place!!!

I stayed here with my family for a reunion during the summer. I believe they have about 13 cabins. I stayed in the main cabin which has a big kitchen and dining area plus a large living room with fireplace. There were two bathrooms and two bedrooms in the main cabin each room with a full bed and a twin bed. The bathrooms were fully stocked with clean towels and toilet paper. The sheets on the beds were clean. It was a nice place to stay. There is also a large porch on this main cabin with a large pile of firewood that would be useful in the colder months. Our big family ate out here, played board games, chatted. The location is pretty desolate: high desert. It is a quiet town and you can see part of the lake from the front porch of the main cabin. It’s about a 15 min walk down to the lake. We didn’t swim only because parts of the lake looked swampy. It would be a great place to take a boat out on but I imagine it would be pretty rocky on a windy day because I could see some white caps out there. Diana, the woman who we spoke to at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place to stay in Eagle Nest, NM this is really not bad accomodations at all. They are clean, well kept and affordable. I’m only giving 4 stars because of the location. I didn’t LOVE the town of Eagle Nest.
