Delicious Philly Cheese steak! Quiet atmosphere. Great neighborhood spot with a healthier selection than most hometown cafes. Service was fine. Would have liked to be checked on a bit more than was, considering they had just opened for dinner and we were only customers

My husband and I tried the Brick and Mortar Grill for lunch today and what a treat! We both had burgers which were served with a warm, buttered bun. How many places care enough to do that? Both burgers were done perfectly. Their loaded potato soup with bacon(one of the featured soups of the day) was thick and delicious. The service was friendly and quick. Can’t wait to go back and try something else on their menu. It’s well worth the drive from Fuquay!

Such a delightful place for lunch. Small dive like place with tremendous heart. I think the owner/wife was working the dining room, such a lovely lady and caring for her business. Making sure everything was proper and quick. I also think the owner/husband might have been working the kitchen. Everyone was really giving it their all to do a great job and be friendly. I really appreciate these types of places. We will return when in the area.

My wife and I visited here at lunch for the first time based on recommendations from some friends. We were seated promptly, greeted by owner, Lori. The place is clean and very nicely decorated with a great atmosphere. We started with the Onion Rings. Normally I don’t care for them as many places are either too greasy or dry but they were the perfect tasty balance. For Entrée my wife had the French Dip with a side of homemade Macaroni Salad. The side was great and the French Dip was wonderful too. I had the Black Bean Burger with the homemade Potato Chips. Both were very yum, yum tasty. We finally wrapped up lunch by sharing the homemade Butter Pecan Cheesecake. OMG it was the pinnacle of the lunch, so delicious. We will go back and bring friends too. Kudos to the owners and chef.

I traveled to visit my daughter in Fuquay — Varina, North Carolina in early March. Needless to say, there are not many good restaurants in the area. I heard of this new restaurant called Brick and Mortar in nearby Angier, North Carolina. What a welcome change to typical southern food. In both towns there is basically just fast food restaurants with few exceptions. All the food in this restaurant is fresh made. The chef is only 29 years old but he does a great job. On the menu are cravers which consist of items such as wings, quesadillas, cheese fries, chicken tenders, loaded potato skins, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and chipsters. I loved the chipsters. They were thin, fried crispy potatoes. Served with a side of ranch dressing. Soups and salads consisted of a crock of French onion soup, soup of the day, half sandwich with cup of soup or side salad, Caesar salad or side salad, black and blue salad, shrimp salad, grilled chicken salad, coldplate Salad, chef salad, southwest salad, and Mediterranean salad. Sandwiches served with one side item. Extra toppings, cheese or bacon. The one good thing about this restaurant I found where their selection of breads. It is really hard for a north eastern person to find bread that is acceptable in the south. I particularly loved their marble bread. Cheeses available on the sandwiches were American, cheddar, Swiss, provolone or pepper jack. During my first visit to the restaurant I ordered a sandwich called the Rachel which was basically a Ruben except made with turkey, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and thousand Island dressing grilled on marbled rye bread it was skipping whatsoever on the meat or other ingredients on the sandwich. Also available is the French dip, grilled chicken breast sandwich, they had a header melt, the Rowlick, The stretcher club, the shiner, any BLT. The most important thing for me was the fact that they served real turkey on the sandwich and not that pressed turkey or lunch meat turkey it was actually turkey breast and delicious. The burgers list was long. They are made from 100% certified Angus beef. all the burgers are interchangeable with grilled or fried chicken. They had some very unusual burgers. The BMG burger was topped with tender brisket, coleslaw and barbecue sauce. The apprentice burger Melt is pepper jack, jalapenos, sautéed mushrooms and onions on sourdough bread. The holy guacamole burger is bacon, cheddar, guacamole with lettuce and tomato. This is just a sampling of the many burgers available the list is long. Southern style sandwiches were available. They had a shrimp Po boy, warm brisket sandwich, and fried flounder. I did make a request for them to bring back the fried clams sandwich or basket that was available when it was formally Cooley s II restaurant. Wraps were available and you could purchase a Philly steak or chicken wrap, chicken tender wrap, club wrap, grilled and fried chicken Caesar wrap, and a few more as well as a veggie wrap for the vegetarian. Dinner items are available any time of day they are served with one side and a side salad baked potatoes are available after four. Be sure to ask the server about their steak specials. A children’s menu is available and I highly recommend the mac & cheese bites were something unusual. Side items were french fries, Chipsters, potato cheddar jalapeño bites, homemade macaroni salad, homemade potato salad, fried okra, fresh veggie of the day, sweet potato fries, fried pickles, onion rings, fried mac & cheese bites, cup of soup or side salad. They used fresh oil which makes a great big difference in fried foods. The macaroni salad is nothing like what is found in the north or the usual. It is made with bowtie pasta and very very good. more of a vinegar-based than a mayonnaise-base. Highly recommend the macaroni salad Beverages available are Pepsi diet Pepsi, sierra mist, pink lemonade, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, mug root beer, tea, and coffee. Also cold beer and wine. Desserts are made on a daily basis by the chef and owner I was able to taste quite a few Hours are not quite typical of a restaurant but, when I asked the owner they stated that they based their hours around there busy times. They are closed Saturday and Sunday for family time. If planning to go for lunch or dinner I would definitely call first before making the trip to get their hours. They also had a hotdog day which I believe was Tuesday and the list is long of gourmet dogs that you could purchase. They had all sorts of combinations. I actually went back to have a hotdog the following Tuesday. They were all beef hotdogs and delicious. My third visit to the restaurant why was in the area was a Friday night. It was prime rib night and the food was excellent this is when I decided to have the prime rib, potato, and macaroni salad which was excellent in my opinion.

Great fresh food from a local family owned business! If you want a salad, wrap or a burger it is here! I had a great black bean burger with avocado and red onions whcih rocked! In a cute little downtown location, with very friendly folks. It is a small place and busting with hospitality. My family have only been there twice and they recognized us the second time we came in to dine. Nice folks! Very personable and attentive to detail.

Been here twice for lunch now and was reluctant to give 5 stars after only one visit. Today I tried the ribeye sandwich and it was excellent. They also cary Utica Club beer which is a very rare find around here. I guess I will need to get out of Fuquay and head to Angier a little more often!

Quaint setting. Attentive and knowledgable staff. Chipsters and sweet potato fries were yummy. The main courses were all served fresh and portion sizes large enough for take-away boxes. Beer and wine are both offered and although the selection is not large, we were all pleased with our choices! We’ll be back. This is just the type of restaurant we were looking for in Angier. I hope they will extend their hours on the weekend. They told us private parties would be welcome over the holidays. Yes!

Went there for an early supper with wife and elderly aunt. Veggie wrap, Grilled marinated chicken & one with bacon. All of us agreed that this«local» joint was excellent. Not fine dining, but very good food. As 6PM approached the place began filling up with locals. The service was excellent as the young man kept checking on us as we talked without being intrusive except when necessary. The aunt now has a new place to go get a meal!
