I ordered the unagi don to go. The unagi is incredibly rubbery, and hard to chew. It’s also not seasoned too well. The side dishes: cabbage kimchi, I didn’t taste because every Korean’s taste of kimchi differs(your mom’s will almost always be the best), the lettuce kimchi was simply too salty, the bean dish was bland, but the bean sprouts were acceptable. I… Probably won’t come back here. None of the food were to my taste.

If i was able to give 0 stars i would… i was a regular, leaving 30% until today… all seafood seemed like it was left over… no comment on the food… i spent 150, eating only quarter of what i have ordered. never coming back…

The sashimi platter is fresh and good! It comes with a bunch of sides, which are all delicious! In the sides, there is a spicy raw crab which is really impressive and reminded me the«drunken crab», a special preserved raw crab of my hometown taste.

I always get the hwedupbap and sashimi here. The hwedupbap has a ton of sashimi in it – yum!

No no, since the ownership has changed, the foods are all mess. Side dishes and main dishes were not fresh at all! They do not know how to prepare sashimi and Korean hawl-auh. Removing blood of fish was really poor. Now I go to SoJU Sarang in Seoul Plaza. They are 100 times better than here if u feel for fresh sashimi.

Overpriced fresh seafood We arrived at the restaurant pretty late around…10pm The waitress recommended us the medium sushi + seafood special($ 89) for two people. She said that it would be okay for 2 people but it was waaayyyy too much food. Few of the side dishes were dosappointing. I guess we arrived when they were getting ready to close butthere were a couple no nos in the restaurant. 1)we found hair in one of the side dishes. They apologized and they gave us few more side dishes than usual(the lady said) as an apology. 2)the service was way too rushed and inattentive. 3)sushi was mediocre… Nothing special I wished the waitress would have been mpre honest and recommended us something more budget/portion appropriate for the two of us rather thN recommending sometbing enough for 3 – 4 people.

For Mother’s Day dinner we ordered medium size sashimi«boat». Plenty of food to go around. All the ban chan and extra small dishes came out. We had a great experience. Service was great. However, there were a lot of drunk people at the establishment being«loud». I recommend this place!

This place is amazing. I go so oftenly I’m pretty sure they know me by now. They’re always very kind and their service is great. The sashimi comes with a ton of sides and the mahoontang is DELICIOUS. It hits the spot if you want something spicy. It’s very cheap for the quality. I love this place and would recommend this place for sushi lovers. It’s hard to find a korean place with good service now a days … But i love this place.

Decent food(tuna was fresh, mehoontang was delicious! Light on the fish but that’s the way I like it!) plenty of side dishes, good service which turned great after our 3rd free dish! I’m in love with the spicy tuna maki roll

Decent food, excellent price and most impressive service I have experienced in Annandale being a non-Korean. Someone from the next table ordered steamed eel that I will have to go back to try.

One of my favorites in Annandale as a local. Can get large amounts and varieties of seafood with their combination specials for reasonable prices. Overall clean and service is usually good.

I find that I’m always in conflict with my friends whether to eat Korean or Japanese lol it was a delight to find that this restaurant had both options available. My experience here was more than pleasant :) Parking was of ease. The hostess greeted us and directed us to our table in an appropriate time. The appetizers were simple and delightful. I ordered the Korean Kal bi which is my absolute favorite dish. The Kal bi tasted great! My friends ordered the sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious! We ordered a few sake bombs and had great laughs. The one thing i would recommend would be that the lighting was brighter than we are normally used to. We were looking for a more intimate type of setting. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be coming back gain soon. Thank you :)

I came here with my husband and in laws after seeing so many advertisements about the grand opening on the Korean tv channel and newspapers. The initial side dishes and soup were very good as was the attentive waitresses. However, what was supposed to be the highlight of the dinner was the famous eel special for $ 60 per couple. We were really disappointed to be met with soggy ggaetnip, brown pieces of lettuce, and worst of all, tiny overcooked eels. Being a lover of eel, I’ve tried various places in Korea that specialize in this dish and perhaps had my hopes too high. The sushi/sashimi may be better but we did not try that as it was $ 250 for the combo with the eel.

Love the Ellicott City restaurant and decided to try this location too… Menu was a tad different and they didn’t have combo sets like they do in Maryland. Service was pretty slow, even though it wasn’t that busy. Ordered the sashimi appetizer, which ended up coming out after I finished eating my main meal. Had the sushi/sashimi/mae eun tang combo… Sushi and sashimi came out after I ate the soup and rice… The ban chan/side dishes were very slim too… Only four came out and they weren’t that great. Tasted and looked like someone else’s leftovers, and no one came to ask to refill that or the water. Not going back.

I’ve been here before once with my family. Now I came back with my bday and my sis. We ordered medium sushi and sashimi combo. Sucked liked HELL! i don’t think I’ll be coming back here. Also the service is bad and we were sorted way in the back by the window and our waitress came by once. She’ll be getting less tip. Right next to our table is empty dirty dishes. Take a look… unacceptable!

Been coming here ever since it was a seafood market over 10 years ago. Its since changed ownership many times throughout the years. The last 2 times I ate here iv had bad experiences. It is now under new management yet again which I believe is the 3rd or 4th time now. This place went to shit after the original owners sold it. I like what the new owners did by removing the live fish tank and making that space a private dining area. The service was friendly but the food was a major let down yet again. You might have a good experience here on occasion but people want consistency, and unfortunately this place doesn’t have it. This last meal will definitely be my last. Gave it many chances but they just cant seem to get it right. Sushi rice was mush which ruined the entire meal. Iv had bad sushi rice in my time but this was hands down the worst iv ever had. How the hell can you serve that crap to your customers? Some of the sashimi looked old and dry. All the ponchon was horrible. The tempura was dense and bland. Well after over 10 years of going to this place im finally done and will never ever return. Its was nice knowing you, good luck and far well.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a Korean friend, and so glad that I was. I don’t know that I would have ever thought to consider walking in. There are a multitude of other Korean bbq restaurants in the vicinity, having a focus on seafood makes Janguh Si unique. The fish for sushi/sashimi is the freshest and tastiest I’ve found. Though they provide the wasabi and soy sauce, I frequently eat the everything plain just to enjoy the unaltered flavor. The sushi creations will strike a nice balance, and I wouldn’t want to overpower the subtle flavors of fish roe. They recently changed ownership and management, Fortunately, they didn’t do much to the menu, most of the improvements were in ambience and service: the malaprop Elk antlers are gone, replaced with a more fitting mounted swordfish. I think there is more attention to the presentation, with some small additions that really contribute to the overall impression of a dish. I always go in alone, yet receive the same care and attention as a party of eight. And I can also find items and portions that are satisfying. The seafood soon dubu has substantially more content, both in diversity as well as amount of shellfish and shrimp. For Westerners, the waitresses are happy to provide recommendations and explanantions of the dishes. Update: I’m perplexed by some of these bad reviews. I can understand sometimes bad service or a bad meal. And this is a one-off restaurant, there is no «other location» restaurant. I’ve had to change my diet for medical reasons, Janguh Si is now my preferred location for lunch. The sushi/sashimi lunch box is perfect, my only guilty pleasure is three pieces of fried tempura vegetables and a few bites of kimchi. The new ownership is striving to make it great, with more emphasis on family service. I appreciate that, I don’t have to wade through a crowd of smokers to get in the front door. Maybe the tables of boisterous men were better tippers, but I like the quieter ambience.

I’ve been frequenting this restaurant for years and I love it! I haven’t been in a few months, but I like their lunch menus since its really good value. When I feel like spending a lot, I get their sashimi boat which not only comes with fresh fish, it comes with a ton of side dishes as well. They also serve abalone, conch, and sea squirt sashimi with the boat I believe. I usually go for the sashimi over rice or the spicy monkfish soup for the lunch menu!
