While there are some beautiful pieces here and the décor is lovely, many of the clothes were not in good condition at all, particularly given the prices — there were stains and holes in dresses and coats that were priced above $ 100. There are plenty of vintage shops in DC with much better quality merchandise for the same price or less, so I was really disappointed in Retropolitan. Basically, if you buy something from here make sure you inspect it before you do.

This place is must visit if you love beautiful vintage clothing, hats, shoes and also beautiful antiques. They have quite a few lovely fireplace mantels and unique chandeliers. Very beautiful curated-like collection. I am going to tell all of my fashionista friends.

Visited the store in its new-ish Annapolis location for the first time, and it’s as amazing as ever. It’s so well-curated – every item is a treasure. They have pieces in a range of price points and sizes, which is a rare and wonderful trait for a vintage store.

A fine selection of vintage wares. The sales clerks from what I can tell really know a good deal and at very friendly and helpful. Their prices are pretty high but considering the quality and their attention to authentic pieces I don’t blame them. If you get on their mailing list they send you tips when they get new stock and a discount.
Now if they could only stock small sizes so I could buy things…

They don’t have as much vintage men’s clothing and accessories as they used to, which is a shame, but I was able to pick up an early 60’s classic men’s cashmere/wool overcoat in my size for $ 100. There’s always something interesting floating around their inventory, but it’d be awesome if EC had just one store that specialized in guy stuff, too.
