Their name says it all… ORDERTHEFISH&CHIPS! Excellent fresh fish and just a light batter make this one of the most desirable fish & chip joints in the local area. And the tartar sauce is super fresh, chilled, and seemingly homemade. If you’re reading this post, I think you’ll be very, very satisfied to have a great meal at Tug Boat Fish & Chip #8!

The owner and his family make a trip to this joint worth it! Hidden behind its dive like interior is a owner who really understands customer service. He was kind and funny and well versed on all menu items. I my husband and I had a huge order and he came and talked and also gave us some Korean crackers to try while we waited! Will be back for sure!

I read the reviews on here and I decided to try it myself and it was ok, they don’t give much french fries and my chicken strip were skimpy smaller then I saw in the pic compared b to what others got. But I guess it was pretty good just small portions for the price of them. I also ordered egg rolls(lumpia) it was raw. But at any rate the The owner was nice he was very interactive with us, but I felt like it was too much, over doing it sometimes I don’t like to be bothered while eating my lunch. Overall everything was okay but the egg rolls.

When you walk in the heavy smell of oil scares you and makes you think the fish might be oily. Let me reassure you it is NOT!!! This place is very clean inside and has large tvs on both ends for your entertainment. We ordered the fish and chips platter. The fish was fryed to perfection and was not greasy at all. The chips were delish as well. House made tartar is good. I recommend checking this place out if you want good fish. P. s portions are huge our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs and took home left overs.

I’m changing my review based on the last experience. I will admit I was on a call when I order yet he had my full attention because I told the person on my line to hold on and placed my phone to the side when I placed my order. I ordered the catfish po boy. When he gave me my food I realized he didn’t ask what sauce I wanted like he has EVERY other time. So I asked and he told me sriracha. I told him that’s way to hot and I couldn’t eat it. He tells me not much he can do the foods already made and I shouldn’t have been on the phone. I believe his wife came out and said she could fix it. When I went home the bread was soggy only at the bottom like it was soaked in water. Never again.

Yummmmmm… says it all. Eat here often and are never disappointed. Fish is perfectly crispy with on the outside and mellow whit fish on the inside. Prawns are the best ever, huge and crispy with tender insides. Tartar sauce is the most amazing perfect complement. Fries are ordinary, would be much better to invest and make fresh cut fries. Trying the clam chowder is next on my list. And yes, love Peter… always happy and cracking jokes.

Had the lunch special today and it was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Sign outside says«healthy» and I was skeptical, but as far as fried food goes, this did taste pretty healthy compared to others I’ve had. It was a really fair price for a good variety and lots of food. Family who owns it were very nice and friendly. I noticed they let customers change the channels on the TV which is thoughtful. The food came out fast, too, which I appreciate in a fish and chips restaurant. Will definitely go back! Oh and the tartar sauce was the greatest, most delicious, most fresh I’ve ever tasted.

Took my family there today, most don’t care for fish and didn’t even want to go in. However when the huge serving came out, they all ate it up even my daughter the biggest critic of them all. Thank you

Solid place for fish and chips. Will definitely be coming back for more. Good food(tried the seafood sampler and love the oysters plus their homemade tartar sauce is so good.) Nice owners. Quick service. Positive atmosphere although it may not look so friendly at first glance. I was originally trying to go to another tugboats off of Elkhorn but I’m glad I ended up at this location. Can’t wait to go back and get more!

Peter is so personable and friendly. He took his time to explain to us how he prepares the food. He only uses quality canola oil and takes pride in using clean oil which is evident in the quality of the food they serve. This is a family business that is run by Peter, his wife and son. We were happy with everything we ordered. The sampler platter with fish, clams, oysters, shrimp, calamari and French fries. He also has a condiment bar with a large selection of sauces including homemade tartar sauce and ranch.

We’ll start this by saying that my dad is a VERY picky eater, in the most simple way possible. It’s extremely hard to find a way to balance my desire to constantly try new places with his desire to only eat the same thing … but some how Tugboat managed to completely satisfy us both(and my mom too)! It’s super super neatly located in the center of all that is Antelope, and while I so often complain we have nothing in our tiny little suburb to eat, this little gem has proved me wrong. It’s been sitting here for years, seemingly just a boring ol’ place from that outside, but it seems more of a neat neighborhood spot — mainly, I assume, because of the new owners that took over just over a year ago. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted by a smiling Peter, the owner. He patiently waited as my family dramatically attempted to order(we’re a pretty scatter-brained bunch), cracking jokes as he helped us figure out what to get. He promised my dad the chicken strips he ordered would be the best of his life, and proudly explained how his wife made them — baked in canola oil, not dipped in batter until after we order. My dad ordered that, I ordered fish & chips, and my mom ordered fish & prawns. Once seated, Peter kept up the spirits in the almost empty place. He checked on customers to make sure they were well and we constantly heard him telling jokes(funny ones too) at the front counter. His energy alone made me like the place! After he handed us our food, we found the spirit obviously matches the taste. The fries/chips were good fries, thick and just crispy enough. The fish was great as well, perfect texture. My dad willingly admit that they were actually the best chicken tenders he has ever had, and how perfectly crisp they were — and that he’d be willing to come back. So hooray for find a place that satisfies both my mom’s need for seafood and my dad’s need for the best-done basics, we’ve found a new place right nearby that I promise we’ll be back to! Five star service, really great food … if I try a few more things this rating might just go up.

Tugboat has the best fried seafood!!! For a fish n chips establishment. I just had there po boy(catfish) sandwich and it was amazing. It was huge!!! More like a «manwich» with a side of fries. I am a regular now. They even will accommodate for a healthy alternative. Last time I was here I had the grilled fish and salad. It was wonderful! Thanks Peter and Helen!

I’m constantly looking for a good place to get fish and chips, and I’m excited to have finally given this place a chance. My sister and I went right as they were opening up, and the owner was super nice and answered our questions. I was pleasantly thrilled with the rather generous portions, we couldn’t even finish all our chips — though we did try. The batter they use was a bit unexpected, I think it’s a tempura batter. However, I actually think that it made a good covering for the fish. Another great thing, they make tartar sauce. And it isn’t just a glob of mayonnaise like one place I’ve been to. I was excited to eat it. Also good to have malt vinegar available. I love that stuff. Overall, I want to go again and I would tell others to go too.

These guys have it a together. Outstanding service that went way above a stand and order type restaurant. We came in with our approx 17 children and the owner was SO helpful and SO nice and accommodating. He helped us order the right amount then got us situated with all the fixin’s. We genuinely loved the whole experience from start to finish. Outstanding service, but then the food… Oh sweet mother of fried fish. Not a greasy mess, actually had flavor and was substantial enough for sauces and dips galore. We will definitely be back. If I had my way, daily.
