This was a really great place with lots of birds. The staff really cared about the animals and their well being.

The Avian Reconditioning Center is a great place if you like birds. Luckily, I happen to love birds! They’re only open on Saturdays, and they’re kind of out of the way in Apopka, but if you can get over there, it’s a really unique place. It’s usually pretty quiet, and if you luck out, you might be the only ones there. They rehab injured birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and falcons, and they have some injured birds that live there full time. These are the birds that are outside on Saturdays. It’s a neat place because you can get really up close and personal with the birds, and the volunteers all seem to know a lot about them. They also have some birds that they can free fly around their property, and it’s so much fun to watch them fly! My favorites are the Harris’ Hawks, because the two hawks fly together, and are just amazing to see. I’m not sure if there’s another place like The Avian Reconditioning Center anywhere. It’s all run on donations, and there’s no set entrance fee. It’s a give what you can type of place. They really seem to be passionate about saving injured birds of prey.
